best RPG I've ever played

First let me just say that I've never played D&D before. I saw this gama and it looked like diablo 1&2 (which I both love). Only problem was I was a little scared I'd buy the game and not understand how to play it, since I've never played and D&D game before in any way shape or form in my intire life. on the back of the box it said stuff like "2nd edition AD&D rules". Which I had no idea what it meant. I was worried it would be complicated and i'd have wasted my money cause personally I dont WANT to learn about D&D i just like playing a fun RPG everyonce in a while, so you dont need to know anything about D&D to play this game, also it's about 10x funner then diablo 2. I know the game came out about 2 1/2 years ago and the graphics are a little bit dated, but they still rock. And also when your done with baldurs gate you can get baldurs gate 2 and import your guy so unlike diablo 1&2 where after you beat the first one you have to start from scratch on the second one you start with your old guy and your ready to go.

Baldurs Gate is first of its kind.

Baldurs Gate is by far one of the best computer role [laying games to come out in a long time. The game is by first of its kind. It is the first game with the DND name to be in 3D. But what makes the game so special is its fantastic story line. The story is brilliantly thought up and flows wonderfully. The game also has very real NPC's with actual backround stories and everything. The game also has hundreds of monsters to fight and even more things to throw at them, including spells and numerous weapons. This is a great game for even those who have never even played Dungeons and Dragons before and I highly recomend it to anyone with any intrest in roleplaying whatsoever.

THE BEST GAME EVER!!!

Baldurs Gate redefines, and completes the lack of roleplaying games recently. I can't remember last time I played a good role playing game on my PC. I must say that games like Zelda, and other "role playing" games, are quite good. But for the hardcore experience of role playing, as true to real role playing as possible, you have to have a PC to make it work.

Finally, the PC gets a game that IS hardcore role playing. Baldurs Gate is everything I want in a game within this genre, plus much more. I only wish that there were more games like this. For any role playing fan, I urge you to try this one out. It has lots of characters to get into depths with, many paths to take, although there is of course just one plot in the game. The music is breathtaking as well, which I think is very important to captivate the player.

Not since Daggerfall has there been a game that captivates the player into it's world as much as Baldurs Gate, and still, Baldurs Gate does know it's limitations, unlike for instance Daggerfall.

Baldurs Gate 2 is ok, but I recommend the first game most hearty. Because of its incredible music, wonderful story, compelling AD&D style, and with the quality which no game that I can remember has.

A fantastic start...

This game is a fantastic start to a very enjoyable (and long) saga...that of the Bhaalchild traversing Faerun, ever pursued by his/her destiny.
The game is highly enjoyable and the graphics and gaming engine are superb.
However, the game loses much of its fire after its sequel is sampled. Shadows of Amn is even better, and the improvements are very tangible as everything is heavily complexified and the game becomes more challenging and engaging. I advise that gamers play this game to see if they enjoy the setup and type of game, and then delve into the far richer Shadows of Amn.

A fantastic game for any RPG fan!

I have to admit I have never played the pen and paper version of D&D, but be that as it may, I still found this game to be a very enjoyable, humorous, exciting and interesting RPG adventure. I have been playing RPG games for a long time now, and I can say that this game hands down is in the top ten I have ever played. And if you get the expansion pack that is also available, it will be even better!

Baldurs Gate is the best game I've ever played. It gives you the freedom in a RPG you've always looked for. You can go anywhere and do anything.Gain up to five players on your team, all with their own special abilities. You can get tons of accessories-Helmets,ammors,swords,mace,bows,clubs,slings,rings,
amulet, boots, and lots more. This RPG is different from the rest
when you get level ups the enemies just dont get weaker or stronger but smarter. The enemies include:orges, gnolls, skeletens, giant spiders, wizards, other humans, badits, wolves, hobgoblins, and plenty more.In some RPG they say you get to custimize your characters. In this game you can choose:human, elf, half elf, hafling, dwarf, gnome, then choose from a paladin, ranger, warrior, fighter, mage, druid, bard, then choose your skills, then your weapons(you can buy different ones though. This game takes a lot of time to beat. It is truly a Great Game

The graphics of Baldur's gate are tight. The game world is huge, spanning 5 full CDs. You can explore everywhere, battle monsters and complete quests and other missions. The character creation is highly detailed allowing you to choose from a variety of attributes for each race. If you like rpgs, get this game! You can play on-line too, but I haven't tried that yet. :)

Interesting story

Baldurs Gate, is probably one of the better role playing games on the market today. It has some good characters, along with a riviting story line that will keep you hooked as you play it. The music is great, and the graphics are very good for a computer game. There is a wide list of characters and NPC's that will help your character on their quest. And the best part of this game, is that the controls are actually easy to use, so you arent stressing yourself out to looking for the right buttons to use in your battles. I rate this game at 4 stars because it could be a little longer, and a little better, but for 19.99 it is definately a game worth buying.

Lotta fun but addictive

This is a good game. It has lots of fun and you cant quite turn it off. I say to myself just a few minutes and next I know a few hours have passed. My only misgiving is that the game does not give enough insight into what you do next. I go to a place and it takes a few tries to figure out what next. Otherwise great game.

Baldur's Gate rocks!

I gotta say, Baldur's Gate is one of the best RPG games out there, even though its graphics and interaction between characters is a little dated. No wonder it got '98 RPG game of the year. Baldur's Gate is just awesome. Besides the fact it took away from my social life and glued me to my PC for hours on end, it was great. It's one of my best game that I have right now. Really neat and awesome.
Personally, my fav character is a fighter/mage half-elf. Awesome character.
If you haven't played Baldur's Gate yet, then buy and play it; you won't regret it.
But bear this in mind, since nothing else will warn you about: be careful about who you invite into your group: try and stay away from those of opposite alignment, so like if your Good, then be wary around Montaron and Xzar, but if your Evil, stay away from Khalid and Jaheira.
Happy gaming!
