This is an interesting title. I never got into it that far but it is pretty cool. Very difficult. Beware not for amateur gamers. I can get about 5 hours in and half my men die. I don't like when that happens, but you got live I guess eh? Good luck if you choose this title.
Excellent Tabletop Adaptation, but Better Fare on the Way

If you're looking for the best software adaptaion of AD&D currently in stores, look no further! Baldur's Gate is by far the most comprehensive and detailed translation of the classic tabletop game to hit shelves. From character creation to monster generation, it never misses a beat. On top of that, the user interface is fluid, natural, and makes game play 'fair' to the user trying to be six people at once.
However, if you want the BEST adaptaion, I recommend saving your money and waiting for the upcoming release of Baldur's Gate II! This will feature improved character generation (with more classes and subclasses), larger quantity and variety of monsters, improved graphics, and other various engine tweaks.
Plainly put, as great as Baldur's Gate is, I don't recommend spending more than twenty dollars on a game that's going to be eclipsed in a few months. Save your money for the new and improved!
Forever gaming...

Baldur's Gate & Baldur's Gate, Tales of the Sword Coast have provided continuous entertainment for me for FOUR months now. After completing the game the first time, I decided to start over using different character traits and alignments. Guess what? I'm just about done and I plan to PLAY AGAIN until Baldur's Gate II comes out. These are probably the best computer games I have ever played. I have bought LOTS of others, and don't even play for 5 minutes until I am either bored, or frustrated. If you are looking for a great role playing game that can be played alone, or with others, Baldur's Gate is it!

I have had this game for a couple of months, but still haven't beat it. although my lengthiness in beating it may be because, I do not have ready access to a windows most of the time, I find this game very challenging. I finally went out there and bought the guide, and, the game is still just as hard. Overall this game is good, and I enjoyed (and still enjoy) playing it

I really liked this game. It hurls you into a fantasy world with stunning graphics and smooth DirectX animation. It's perfect for any hardcore AD&D gamer and all my friends like it. Five stars out of five!

Baldur's Gate, I believe, is THE most entertaining and exciting I have ever played -- It is truly a classic, and I strongly recommend it for people who want to know where the greatness of the name RPG comes from. With unique character classes, true AD&D rules (no pointless hack and slash like AC), and an immersing, exciting and slowly unfolding mystery/plot, Baldur's Gate transforms you into the hero you wish you could be. Endless hours of play, and a game that is never repetitive.
Impressive Game

Baldur's Gate is a pretty good RPG. Vast worlds, powerful monsters, weapons to find, and adventures you can find such as destroying a group of Kobolds in an iron mine or chasing down a group of bandits that is causing trouble to the people. You can choose what character you want, what race, and whether he/she should be good or evil. I find this game pretty fun but minus one star for difficulty. Some monsters are pretty strong and some can even cast spells that would give instant death to your characters. This game is pretty addictive plus, it's only (price)! A pretty cheap investment. Once you buy Baldur's Gate, you cannot stop playing til you reach the end!
a good game so far

well the setting up of a charecter takes a good chunk of time and the first few minutes drag on but the other charecters and the interaction is pretty well on par with other games in the genra i enjoyed the game and i like the weopons and the addaptability of the game you can do quests in any configuration and you dont need to finnish them right off the bat
