The BEST SHOOTER since Halo2

This game absolutely beats any games including splinter cell double agent, or gears of war. The graphics are incredible, gameplay is great, and there's so many weapons to choose from. This is a must have for any serious first person shooter lover. The multi player capabilities are excellent because you get to choose from tactical light, tactical medium, etc. However, if you dont like a game that has pretty challenging enemies you may not like it. Overall though this game is very good.

At first thoughts of playing this game (two days) this is what ive come up with.

Campagin mode is fulfulling and long, atleast judging from the played time on just the first mission. Its the basic shooter to me... kill the enemies in the room, down the hall, climb down a ladder and shoot some more. The graphics are pleasing but not anything to go crazy for.

Xbox live mode is good as well. The customizable character is a great aspect. As you up rank in xbox live matches you can have more clothes and armor to equip your character with. A big problem i have with the ranking is that it doesnt require skill. You can gain points by not killing anyone, dying, and losing a match. Although you gain more by winning and getting the kills, the ranking is based more on time consumption. You can easily grab a friend, alternate who gets to win each round and just easily rank eachother up from what i can tell. Also, you still get ranked up in player match? either mode you choose it isnt just for fun, which may be the reason you cannot lose points for doing terrible in a player match.

I'll stop though, I tend to skim the long reviews.

Brilliant.

I think Rainbow Six Vegas has amazing graphics. Ubisoft probably focused on making the game look great more than the gameplay itself. Yes, there is a large variety of weapons like assault rifles shotguns, sniper rifles, light machine guns, turrets, and submachine guns. You get allies, and you do fight against enemies who take cover. You get to command two allies. The cover system is similar to Gears of War, where you get blind fire and look behing walls. The game spawns about six missions, and features multiplayer which you can customize your own character.

Here are the things that really bug me:

-There is only Normal and Realistic (Hard) , no easy for beginners. Normal itself is hard.
-When you get shot, your vision gets all blurry and blacks out, sometimes turns red. When this happens, it is extremely hard to see and enemies are likely to finish you off.
-Falling from a distance off five feet kills you already.
-There are huge gaps between each checkpoint. Since you die very easily, you go back to the last checkpoint. This is really frustrating especially if you have killed most of the enemies and completed many objectives.
-You only get two allies, against, what, a whole army of ists?
- Stupid allies. They get in your line of fire, and when they get hurt you must revive them. No returning favor.
-Repitition. After enemies and dying, it's as if you're doing the same thing all over again. This makes the game realy boring.
-Hard to see. Enviroment is very dark. You'll use night vision mostly.
-If an ally dies, game over. Doesn't that always happen in warzones?
-Very slow reload times.

To be honest, people get attracted to it by the graphics. I really thought I would like it seeing the trailer and all, but the gameplay turns out bland. So, I won't say this is garbage and not worth acknowledging, but it is worth a rent.

FREAKING AWESOME

If you don't buy this game you are one of these choices: A.)A Girl, B.) A kid whose parents won't allow violent games in the house, or C.) A sissy. If you don't buy this game or if you don't like it you're not a man, and you don't deserve what makes you a dude. In fact you'll probably be condemned for an eternity to only play Fuzion Frenzy 2 or Bomberman: Act Zero. This game may be frustratingly difficult but it's just so addicting when hunting bloodthirsty terrorists. You get awesome heat-seeking goggles, you get cool cover and shoot moves, grenades, and all sorts of lucious weaponry. You can also direct your teammates where to go and the graphics are gorgeous. This game ties at #2 in my top ten favorites list with F.E.A.R. and Bullet Witch right next to it. So buy this game or you're not a man dammit !

I was skeptical.

I have been a Rainbow Six fan since Rainbow Six 3. And when Lockdown, Rainbow six 4, came out i was not happy. It had seemed that they ruined the franchise and many people questioned if ubisoft would reclaim itself.

To me this game means reclaimation of the franchise and dynasty. This game is a must if you want to build a team online to play competitively and through this game it will make you a skilled player in other FPS type games.

The Xbox Live features is really where this game shines. You can jump in a room with your friends and play in a fun and strategic environment like previous rainbow six's. Also is the new PEC 2.0 system that allows you to unlock new clothing/ armor. This new PEC 2.0 feature i thought would make the game unfair and make it that people who have played it more would win more. But after playing for awhile i have noticed that this just isnt true because the stuff you unlock has drawbacks with it as well such as better armor but you move slower.

This game puts you in Las Vegas as terrorists are threatening the city. You must go through many different areas in the city as well as a few casinos stopping terrorists in many ways.

Again i must say this is a must have for any Teams/Clans that play on Xbox Live and any gamer that plays on xbox live in general.

Rainbow Six Vegas is an incredible game. The graphics, the gameplay is amazing. You start off solo in Mexico, yes Mexico, before you'll eventually get to Vegas ,but not to worry mexico looks just as detailed as Vegas and Mexico is only 4 of the 21 total maps in the story mode. The enemies,at times, will flank you and your squad very very agressivly and are pretty good shots. You'll hear your squadmates say"there flanking us".Likewise your squad A.I. responds very well to your orders and will go just about anywhere you order them to. Some of the commands are 'fire at will' or 'return fire only' or 'stack up' and prepare for entry into door. You can order your men to either assault upon entry or check your fire upon entry some the door entry commands are as follows -frag&clear-breach&clear-smoke & clear, flash & clear etc. Your men will also line up just about anywhere you point your crosshairs & (press A button) .You and your 2 men have ability to Rappel and fast rope. While rappeling down the side of a casino you can invert yourself (click left stick) and still rappel down and fire your handgun.ALSO you can order your men to 'ROPE UP' and they will wait for you too order them to rappel, or they will fast rope down if given the opportunity. There's lots of rappel/fast rope opportunities on each level. The story was quite good and kept me interested in the characters you play with . I liked the cutscenes riding in the helicopter looking down at Vegas. The story also plays out in your HUD too kinda like a PIP on your TV,you'll get plot twists or story info on your P.I.P. or HUD while you and your men are stacking up on a doorway. It makes a nice twist to the old standard watch a 5 min movie cutscene between levels. Onto another issue the checkpoints came at the right times , sometimes I was relieved when I saw the 'saving now' signal. Personaly I like nicely placed checkpoints,I like the fact that you dont have to save every 10 feet just to survive to next level idea, and your not constantly going to your save screen in a game. This game might be too hard for some novice or intermediate gamers,as you have to plan your assaults wisely by using solid flanking technics and using your 'snake camera' under the door to spot enemies locations before assaults begin. In some of the casinos you'll have more than a dozen door/rappel/fast rope entrys to attack enemy. Not just the simple 2 door only flank entry. You can TAG up to 2 enemies for your men to take out first & second upon entry into the room.(press back button) to red tag enemy when using your under door (snake camera). You have 2 levels of difficulty'normal' or 'realistic' I beat the game on both and found that realistic wasnt too much harder than normal. As far as bugs go ,Ive completed the game 3 times through and can only remember once where my squadmate got (buggy) stuck behind a door, and there was some very minor issues with my player not taking cover with the left trigger. But overall this game was very smooth ,no serious bug or slow down lag issues in my experience to really effect the gameplay. Onto weapons you have the ability to put silencers on about 75% of the weapons, when you do go silent your squadmates will do the same, you'll see them switch to there silenced sub-machine gun,I like the fact too that you can take the silencer off in game while playing. The weapons all fire and have a 'real world' feel. They sound and look good. Some of the weapons included are the MP9-MP5N-MP7A1-P90---UMP45-552 COMMANDO-AK47-AUGA3-FAMAS-G36C-G3KA4-M8-MTAR21-SCARHCQC-ETC.ETC. all of which can be customized by adding rifle scope, laser sight, reflex scope, acog scope,6x scope,etc.etc.Dropped enemy Ammo automaticly picks up( by walking over it) when you have the matching weapon for it, likewise you can pick up/switch enemy weapons with yours. You'll also have Ammo/weapon switch out Box (like the one in GRAW) in some locations in the levels. The surrounding areas takes damage as well like the slot machines will spew coins out when shot, the (fish shaped) lights hanging in the atrium of the Calypso casino shatter when shot, etc. etc. All this adds realism and nice effect to the overall feel of the game...When you use cover (by pressing left trigger) it switches to 3rd person view, then when you leave or peak out from cover it goes back to 1st person. This transitions very well and never feels awkward or clumsy. Ive never played a game that felt so realistic graphicly ,there's so much detail everywhere I look. Some of the stuff I didnt see the first time through the game adds a nice touch, like the flower petals flowing out of the dragon heads mouths in the Buddah/asian themed 'Red Lotus'casino. The music/sound effects are done nicely as well , sounds very good on my stereo. This Game truly feels like a next gen game. A lot of work went into this game ,just walking back through a level youve just cleared of enemies and looking at all of the detail all around made me appreciate the game more. With the exception of the Dam level there's no bland industrial grey wall look to the game. You also have single player 'Terrorist Hunt ' mode ,the objective is to eliminate all terrorists on each map. And get this.. almost all 10 maps are completely different than the story mode and some of the maps arent even in the single player story campaign at all. With only a few being 'slightly' simular to the main campaign story mode. I cant remember if the 'terrorist hunt' mode opens up after finishing the main story campaign or not.... anyways its a HUGE bonus to the replayability of this game even without xbox live online. In terrorist hunt mode you play 'solo' and its hard but not to hard. You can set the difficulty level and set the enemy density from low-med-high. Anybody who is a fan of FPS/Squad games should definatly get this game. It has a HIGH replay value even for someone without Xbox Live. I didnt think there would be a game any better than Gears Of War (which is awesome too!) But along comes Rainbow Vegas in my opinion is even a step better. Rainbow Six Vegas is a definate must own game.

Who knew Vegas could be so much fun.....;)

The glory and essence of Rainbow Six has returned! I had been eagerly awaiting this Rainbow Six game, although nervously after Lockdown, I worried this game series was going downhill. Then the images began popping up for Vegas and the graphics looked incredible. Finally I got it the day it was released (while on vacation so lots of time to play it) and I have to say, the series is back on top. I had downloaded the demo and that got my mouth watering. The graphics are top notch. The Unreal engine 3 is pushing this bad boy, as it pushed the other graphically rich game, Gears of War. This game is rich in detail and rides on a superb plot and storyline. The game begins in Mexico with Rainbow Six chasing after a lady tango. Without giving any spoilers, you are then taken on a route that ends up in the streets of Vegas and into the casinos. Man, I can only say that this is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. The casinos are brightly lit and amazingly caught with the sound designs and ambience. One of the most incredible parts to me was when I was in the casino during a firefight. Slot machines blow up and money spews out. The sounds of slow machines beeping really helped the mood here. The controls are fairly simple to learn and after about 30 minutes, you will be crouching and shooting and peaking around corners without even a second thought.

There is also a feature where if you have the Xbox camera (I am curious if this can be done with any web cam) you can take a snapshot of your face and create your own personal character and the 360 will map your face onto the character. I haven't been able to do this yet as I haven't purchased the camera but it is a neat feature anyways. Single player campaign is well laid out and is not easy in any way. I found myself having to replay sections where I tried to run and gun and was taken out. You are given a nifty feature called the snake cam, which you can use to look under doors. Using this feature, you can spot tangos and even tag them number 1 and 2, for your team to take out in priority. You can use this feature to set your team up at one door while you move to another door and use a dynamic entry to take the enemy out. You have to think because the enemy AI is great here. Tangos will take cover and take pot shots at you from around corners. Tangos will flank you and work as a team. Ubisoft has recaptured what made Rainbow Six 3 so great and made it better.

This is a must have game for the 360. It is one of the top games in terms of graphics, gameplay and longevity. This game will rule Xbox Live. I can only wait for the next Rainbow Six to come out. (Yes, the ending promises another but we all knew that right?) You can't go wrong with this game, in my opinion this is much better than GRAW.

Great game, just a few issues

I am a die hard fan of everything Ubisoft, and more especially, everything Tom Clancy. I've played the Ghost Recon series from the beginning and preferred it to the Rainbow Six series pretty much since the second PC edition started letting me down. I picked up RS:Black Arrow last year on a whim that it would live up to its hype and was, once again dissapointed. So I was pretty hesitant when all of the folks on my friends list on XB360 were playing this game, but decided to go with the flow and pick up Rainbow Six: Vegas.
I am so glad I did!
STORYLINE
This game is everything Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (for the 360) should have been. The story line is great and very involved. Though it gets a bit jumpy at some parts and there is no way to skip some of the cut scenes that you may have seen over and over, the story is realistic and is intertwined in everything you do on the missions (unlike some games where the story line and the missions/game play don't go together).
The voice acting is believable and relevant. Though there is some crude language and lots of profanity, this was not designed to be a kids game, and the language is not gratuitous.
GAMEPLAY
The controls are smooth, and the players mover realistically. The new "corner looking" third person view is especially nice and helps with moving tactically. The team commands are especially nice and for the most part easy to use, though it does get a little bit difficult to use the "order to" command when sending your team mates to a spt that is up stairs or on the same eye level as you (the highlighted circle showing you where they are going can be hard to spot). My only complaint is that sometimes I have found that your team mates don't always automatically take cover while under fire which cna cause them to get shot up during some of the hairier fights. I also was hopeful that there would be a way to issue individual orders to team members so you can provide better area coverage and firepower at multiple entry points, but you have to move your team mates together or not at all, and it really doesn't get in your way too much.
Overall though, the game plays nicely and forces you to use tactics and skill, rather than "my gun is bigger than yours" style of Halo.
ONLINE
The online play of this game adds a whole other level of replayability. The Persistent Elite Character creation feature is nice, though I am a little dissapointed in the ease of cheating the rank system by using glitches and system to gain ranks quicker. Normally, since most games the rank system is just a title, this wouldn't be an issue, but in this game its a flaw because the higher rank you get, the better weapons you can use, thus the cheaters get an unfair advantage in online matches. The load times for maps can sometimes be harsh, and people can be dropped from the server in the crossover. The other downfall is that the online play will sometimes cause your Xbox 360 to freeze.

Overall, this game is great, with just a few minor flaws that can easily be worked out with patches.

If you play in Live, you must own this game

If you see me on Xbox Live, you can pretty much guarantee I'm playing R6:LV. This game is THE Live game. It's fast paced, unforgiving, and as you play your in-game persona will gain access to new items, armor, and weapons. This "roleplaying" aspect, is part of what makes the game so addictive. However, there is a lot more to it.

The gameplay is fantastic and probably the best example of a console FPS to date. It has an extremely intuitive cover system that, once you get used to it, you'll wonder how you survived Halo 2 without it. And like all Rainbow Six games, it is unforgiving and demands sound tactical decisions. No "run and gun" gamers allowed. ;) The sound effects and graphics are also both top-notch.

One of the most interesting parts of this game is the use of the Live Camera. You can take a photo of yourself and it will make your character look like you. It's eerie how well this process works, as well.

Anyway, the point is that this is a must-own game for anyone who likes to play on Live.
