If you like shooting for 10 minutes then searching for what your supposed to do for 45 minutes then this game is for you. Some maps have objectives others don't so you end up spending most of the time just walking around trying to figure out what to do. Also no way to save games except at checkpoints. First run of the game there was a programing error that would not let me advance, without the ability to save the game I had to start all over again.
Get ready to die....a lot.

Very difficult game. And I mean VERY difficult. Personally I have no issues beating games like BioShock or Call of Duty series type games while dying minimal times. So far I am two acts through Rainbow Six Vegas and I imagine that I have died at least 50 times. Whether it's due to my partners dying or myself, I die a ton of times.
The cover mechanism of this game is superb. The graphics are superb as well. The weapons are incredibly realistic, and what you will find is that since they are so realistic, the aiming is much harder than other games.
I found this game to be very frustrating. I love the story, controls are good, it just seems like guys randomly pop out a lot and you die a ton. Other than that, a very solid game and one that will take you a long time to beat!
Compared to 'Splinter Cell Double Agent' This is AWEFULL

As far as this Vegas & Ghost Recon, these 2 games are Not Even Fun after playing Splinter Cell Double Agent. I bought that first and then got Vega & Ghost Recon. The later two have NO story line compared, the graphics suck compared, and the game play sucks compared. Splinter Cell is a masterpiece in Gaming. Because you dont go around with a big gun or grenade in your hand the entire time. You actually play a role and use your'e body. Very disapointed with the Earlier games. It'll be fun when the next Splinter Cell games come out, they are in their own Genera. Period.
BEST ever

Do not buy this game if you've played Call of Duty 4!! The graphics & game play blow compared. You will not like it.

I was playing Call of Duty 3 before getting VEGAS. I'm playing VEGAS now. I love the tactical side of the game and your mates really do play well as A.I. The colors are also really sparkly. Don't worry about being dissappointed with this one. Get it.
Excellent Game! The most fun on XBox Live since Rainbow Six 3!

I really, really like this game. The single player campaign is a blast and the enemy A.I. makes it a worthy challenge for even the most seasoned gamers. The multiplayer, of course, is probably some of the best online gaming that I have ever experienced with great co-op and adversarial matching. Graphics are top notch plus the overall sound design is just about perfect.
I wouldn't say that this game is for everyone, as it is a little slower paced and is by no means a run and gun shooter. This is definitely a one shot, one kill type of game and emphasizes the importance of staying under cover. Still, the sheer amount of insanity that happens during a close quarters fire fight makes this game an experience worth checking out. Just the other day while playing an online co-op match with three others, I made the mistake of rappelling past a building window three stories up without checking it first. To make a long story short, after the match, one of the other guys told me that he looked up just in time to see the window explode outward and my body fly back and down to the street below from several well placed shotgun blasts.
Character creation reaches a new level also with the ability to put your own face on your character using the Xbox Live Vision camera. It's implemented really well and you'll be surprised to see just how good it looks after you complete the short process. A big plus!
All in all, I am strongly recommending this game. It's a lot of fun, there's a huge community online playing as we speak and there's hardly anything wrong with it to speak of. If you liked Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, chances are you'll love this.
best 2006 shooter...

I played all the big ones of 2006, and I think RSV is the best. Gears of War is better looking, Splinter Cell (kind of a FPS) had some better story elements and cool things to do, but overall Rainbow Six Vegas is the best shooter of 2006. Without question it is the best multiplayer shooter of the year as well, as it is a very realistic and powerful platform for multiplayer matches.
The only downside is that the single player campaign is very very hard. Literally sometimes you have to die 20 times or so in trying different ways to make it through a nasty area full of enemies.
Another wonky thing about the single player is the varied accents that come and go in the game. This black guy about halfway through the game (maybe I didn't notice the accents until then, but then it was like they were hitting you in the face with them. bad voice acting) starts sounding like an Aussie, and your character starts to sound like some banjo player from Deliverance. Weird, and poorly done.
Great Game

I bought this game for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. He thinks the graphics are great and the missions are fun. He does get frustrated because he keeps dying at the same part but that is part of the fun he says.
