EarthBound is easily my favorite game. But lets get of my life story and talk about why this game is so under-rated. EarthBound is underrated because it was released in the time when Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy III, The three Kings of the SNES RPGs and when it released RPG gamers just whiffed EarthBound off like that thus nintendo lost a lot of money due to low sales on the game making hard to find like Harvest Moon and Mario RPG. Now thats the history part of the review. Now lets hear why this is my favorite game. First of the controls are simple and you pick them up really fast, the battle system seems similar to Dragon Warrior and Xenosaga, The graphics pretty good but they're no FF3, The sound effects are kinda forgetable but the music is amazing and something you'll remember for a long time (my favorite is the hippie battle music), for an RPG it has a high replay value. Earthbound is one of the best RPGs I've ever played (next to Chrono Trigger,Xenosaga,EarthBound Zero, and Final Fantasy X)and it's my favorite game. I'd give it a 10 out of 10.
This is the reason I got a SNES

This is by far my favorite game of all time, I go though and beat it about once every half of a year, I love this game so much. It is about Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo out to save the world from the even doings of Gigus, were you can lear psychic powers and stuff. This is an awesome age I highly recommend it!
On of my favorite games of all time

I have owned this game for about 5-6 years now and I have never liked a game so much. This is definately a must have for people who still own SNES. The whole game is a joke, and that is why it is so incredibly good. You can't take the game seriously, and it can make you laugh. When your in a down mood, this game will take your mind right off anything that's going wrong, since I've beaten the game several times over, I don't hold interest in it anymore. It is an RPG so the battles aren't exciting like an action game so you can't fool around once you've spoken to everyone and done everything. But if you have never played it, you should buy it. It took care of my gaming needs for 3 years.

I owned this game a few years ago, and have been looking for it ever since. It was and still is my favorite SNES game of all time. The graphics are a bit corny, but it's a great game. It's very addicting, though, so make sure you have LOTS of free time!! If you still own a SNES system, GET THIS GAME!!! You'll love it!!

Earthbound is a strange parody of Dragon Warrior ( Dragon Quest in japan) With baseball bats insted of swords, Burger Shops, Crazy monsters. In other words....... COMPLETELY INSANE.
Plus the music sounds like Zappa, Sunny Sherock, Primus, Faith No More, on a total Acid trap.

Earthbound rocks. When I first played this game, I had finger blisters before I put it down. It has good graphics for a Super Nintendo. The gameplay was simple yet fun. I was only able to rent it from my video store but now I want to own it.

Before reviewing this, be ready to visit your local import stores to get the Japanese Version of Mother 1+2 (Earthbound for the SNES AND the original NES Earthbound Zero combined in one cartridge)! It's coming soon!
Okay people, I love this game. I just got it from my friend a year ago, and I gotta say the game rules! I like the storyline!
The graphics are the turn-down. The characters are good, and the scenery is swell too. The battles are what I dislike. You can't see your characters; only the people you are fighting. The Backgrounds are what help it survive; they are animated, colorful colors that swish and stuff to help make up for the factt the graphics are lacking. The monsters have seen better too; I mean, who wants to fight a Taxi car or Gas pump? Its more like possessed objects and animals.
I love the music. Earthbound feautres the best of the best, and lots of it. It really brings out the mood, like in Winters or the town of Threed at night. It truly is the gem of the game.
I also like the characters. Ness doesn't talk, but Pokey sure does. He's like your rival, and he always says random stuff. It's funny at times.
If you see this game, you'll want to get it. It isn't Lufia II or FF3, but its a great game to relax with.

I have read nothing but great reviews for this game. Everybody claiming that this is the "best RPG ever made" and this game has "never-ending charm." All of these great reviews convinced me to buy this game, plus I needed a new game for my SNES. So I got the game, at a fairly steep price, and thought that I was in for a treat. The game was able to hold my interest for maybe 4 hours. Everything about this game is mediocre at best. The graphics are poor, even for a SNES game, but graphics don't make a good game bad, so I was able to look past that. The story is stupid to say the least, and all of the events in the game seem fragmented and disconencted. Aparently you are the only one that can stop this one monster from taking over the world. Wow, how original. I guess they tried to put a different spin on this trite concept by making the evil guy from outer space. Anyway you are supposed to seek out these 8 sanctuary spots, and record all of their sounds with some sound stone that a bee from outer space gives you. I guess the game does have some originality.
The battles in the game are boring. You see the enemies from a head-on view, and there is a text box displaying what happened, what damage was dealt, and so on. This is a very outdated way of doing combat in an RPG, but it can work if done right. Try any of the Dragon Warrior games for example. However, I can't quite put me finger on why it seems so boring in this game. Maybe the fact that your characters miss about 60% of the time is part of the reason. That just gets obnoxios after awhile. It is not like it adds any challenge to the game. Another dull thing about combat is that if you are much stronger than the enemy, which you usually are, you will not even go into combat. When you run into an enemy the screen will flash, and the enemies are automatically killed. I guess that saves time.
Speaking of obnoxioes, throughout the game this guy randomly pops up and takes your picture. I don't know why, maybe it is supposed to add humor to the game, but I thought that it really slows the game down. You are walking along when suddenly the game pauses, some dumb theme music starts to play, and this guy comes out of nowhere to snap a picture of you. Sometimes this could happen back-to-back. It just slows the game down, and it gets old.
So I got to the final boss of this boring game, and I never beat him. I don't care about the ending. I don't care what happens to the characters, I just wish I could get my money back. Maybe the game would be able to save itself if you could find it for $15, but be expected to pay up to $80 for it. I just don't why it seems that nobody agrees with me. I can not find a bad review for this game. Well now tere is one. If you want a good RPG for the SNES try Lufia.
