Well, It seems that you can't trust Konami. They come out with great games like Metal Gear Solid, but also produce [junk] like this. The demo disc, well it's worth it, but you can buy the game now. The gameplay is horrible. It's just a giant robot collding into other robots in order for them to explode. WOW! And that awful awful AWFUL soundtrack.[Bad] techno with a singer who's genitals were ripped open by fishing knives. The voice acting [stunk], espicially Leo...Bad game. Don't waste your time.

What a waste

Waited so long for this game to be released and when I finally got it, I ejected it after 30 minutes. Boring characters, irritating cut-scenes, horrible voice-over. The only good thing is the MGS2 demo included. But to say that's worth 50 bucks? If you want fast paced mech action than I opt for Virtual On Oratorio Tangram (Sega Dreamcast) anytime. ZOE doesn't even come close in any aspect...

this game is borinnnngggggggggggggggggggggg!

There's good news and bad news with Z.O.E. The good news is that MGS2 will be the greatest game ever. Heck, the extremely short demo packed with Z.O.E. is currently the greatest game ever! The control is a dream, the graphics are poetry in motion, and the re-playbility is unheard of. When Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty rolls around, the PS2 will be THE place to be. That's the good news.

The bad news is that Z.O.E. is none of the things MGS2 is. The story is melodramatic, the voice acting is horrendus, and Leo is the most unlikeable hero in video gaming history. The graphics are good and there is a great attention to detail, but there is no variety. Every level has Leo's bot simply destroying the same three enemy bots and the occasional boss. The control is excellent, but this game is ultimately just NO FUN. The selection of weapons is sub-standard and fighting through level after level of the same old thing is down right boring. Finally, for a game with a rating of "M", Z.O.E. should have had a more mature storyline. The main characters are pre-teens with incredibly annoying, horribly high voices. Z.O.E. is like a bad episode of Digimon or Power Rangers. Don't let the good graphics fool you, this is a horrible disappointment of a game. Buy it for the excellent MGS2 demo, or save your money or a video game that's fun, because Z.O.E. is NOT!

RENT IT!!!! You'll pass it in UNDER five hours!

Firt off, I must say that this is truly an AMAZING game. It is by far one of the most beautifully made games that I have ever played and the control scheme is nothing short of stellar. Also, I have to say that I had a lot of fun playing it and I didn't want to put the controller down. However, after under five hours, I was forced to put the controller down, because that is how long it takes to beat the game.

ZOE really does demonstrate the cababilities of the PS2, however, for a game that was sooooo hiped up, I am left with a complete feeling of disapointment. As soon as the plot begins heating up, the game ends. Even worse is the fact that the game ends with NO resolution to the story. EVEN MORE WORSE is the fact that the game ends BEFORE you get to participate in the battle that they talk about from the VERY begining of the game.

This is truly an AWESOME game and EVERY PS2 owner should take a look at it. However, don't bother purcahsing it, because a five day rental from Blockbuster will give you ample time to pass the game four or five times.

On a more positive note, the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo is AMAZING!!! However, as we have seen with ZOE, even if a game is truly a great technological feat, it can still be a disapointing experience if the programers spend so much time on the graphics and gamplay that they forget to actually program a game!

Very pretty, but uninspired otherwise.

First off, the great thing about this game. The control scheme is very well planned. The graphics are incredible, but since it's a PS2 game, it is almost always a given. The action is fast paced, and the animation is fluid. The sound is iffy at times, but the music is great. So, if you like a fast action game with incredible eye candy, this is the game for you.

However, if you are looking for a deep, involiving RPG with a moving plot....this isn't for you. The setup is cliche and trite. A young boy finds a robot of incredible power and goes on a spree...many mecha anime have done the exact same storyline, with far better results. As the story progresses, I find that you care less about the characters and their ideals. Maybe it's the bad voice acting, but seen that, done this. (In truth, for Gundam fans...It is reminiscent of the Crossbone Gundam manga...A colony in Jupiter's orbit is underattack, etc...)

Anyway, it's a nice rental, but it has poor replayability, a below average storyline, however, its saving grace is the action and graphics.

Not my type of game

I rented this game and got bored with it in minutes. However, it came with a demo of MGS2 which I think is awesome.

I bought this because of the 5 star rating...

Okay I know you've come here and read all these glowing reviews. But Zoe doesn't live up to the hype. The graphics are good but the scenery is plane. The game is repetitive, not in a goodway. There is hardly any variation in enemy's and missions and in the end you'll find it better to have rented then buy. yes Metal Gear Solid is packaged with it and is amazing. It only demonstrates what a good game is and what Zoe of enders is not. Either way I would rent it first. If you like it then buy it.

ZOE: Poor Game, Great Demo

Although ZOE has great a great gameplay, controls, and story line, the ending and complexity of the game are much below par. The ending, which some say leads into a "sequel," is much more a cheap way for Konami to get you to pay an extra ... bucks in a few months to find out what happens. There should definately be a discount for those who bought ZOE if there is a ZOE2. Either way, the MGS2 Demo is what makes this game buyable. With loads of fun "extra" features (which we can hopefully expect to be standard for PS2 games) as well as a great opening story line, the demo in itself is worth 20 dollars out of the ... that you pay for ZOE. Extremely bloody with lots of fun things to do to the terrorists on the boat, as well as 5 difficulty settings and an array of weapons, this demo is incredible. Save 50+ dollars for the day MGS2 is released so that you can be the first to get it. Don't bother going to ... to rent the demo- they take them out of the ZOE case. I've played the MGS2 demo more than ZOE and I'm glad I spent my ... bucks.
