I bought this game mostly to get my hands on the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo ..., but once I had finished it, I thought I might as well play the free game that came with my [price] demo.

Zone of the Enders is the type of game I've been wanting to see for awhile. I loved the robot combat theme of it. It's like all the japanese animes like Gundam Wing, maybe even Evangelion.

As for the graphics... WOW. Just WOW. The best graphics I've seen on the PS2 yet. Absolutey awesome. No errors, no cheap 2D side scrolling, nothing like that. Full 3D non-polygonal graphics everywhere you look. That almost made it worth the [price].

As for the gameplay, fairly simple. No complicated button combos just to attack. Very easy to get used to.

But enough of the pros, now with the cons:

I ordered this game on Amazon, and as soon as I got it, I popped it into my PS2. 6 hours later, I was in my living room watching TV, wondering where the game went. That has to be the shortest game I have ever played. 6 hours to finish, when 3 are in-game videos. Major letdown. I was expecting a 60 hour, full-fledged RPG. I repeat, major letdown.

The only other con I can think of is that when the game was dubbed in english, the mouth movements didn't change, so you'll see the mouth moving independently from what is being said. Not a very big con, but it's best to mention it.

In conclusion, I would say that I spent [price] on the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo, and [price] on Zone of the Enders.

its ok

this game is to repetitive. it has a great game engine and alot of potential, but why in the world were there only 4 badguys in the game? even though the game was really short, fighting the bad guys still got old. the badguys supposedly level up as you go along, but this doesnt change gameplay much at all. why didnt they just make a few more bad guys. i know the ps2 can handle it. and the voice acting is annoying too. if they can get things together in the sequel then it would be a nice game. oh well i guess kojima is just busy with mgs2, which is an awesome game i might add.

and one more thing- "olaf the bear" is supposedly a top 500 reviewer but i read his review and its taken almost direcly from psm magazine. same with the review on shadows of destiny. what a lifeless guy huh?

Aaah! It's a Gundam.....um...Jehuty!

The game's a complete rip-off of the storyline of Mobile Suit Gundam, with a whiny little Amaro Rei clone named Leo Stenbuck (what's with these Ender guys and animal themed names? Are they descended from Native Americans?)fighting in a 'Side'-like colony atmosphere against the pseudo-Zeon forces of Bahram, clashing repeatedly with the even more feminine (though that's reasonable since she's a woman)version of Char the Red Comet. It even abruptly ends like MSG(that's Mobile Suit Gundam, not Metal Gear Solid or Mono Sodium Glutemate!) to be resolved in a movie or in this case, the sequel(s). That's fine though, as Gundam games are more akin to what the Gundam leaves in it's wake after a battle with Zakus...garbage. Konami almost captures the thrills of giant mech games with fast paced dynamic combat that's so easy to control (think action games like Dynasty Warriors 3 combined with Sega's Virtual ON series with a bit of Sega's NiGHTS thrown in for good measure)that any squashed flyboy can feel like the Red Baron when they pilot Jehuty. The difficulty is a little imbalanced at times, being a total breeze one moment and tongue biting hard at other times entirely due to mission objectives but then even the difficult missions become easy once the player figures out what to do (such as defusing bombs while fighting high level enemies at the end) so it never gets to be too tough. That's not the biggest problem with the game. The seemingly endless repetition (though the game can be handily completed in 5-8 hours) is, by which I don't mean fighting the same 3 types of enemies (besides the occassional fantastic boss battle) but the horrid scavenger hunts for items and the constant back-tracking to previous areas of the already-small-in-comparison-to-Jehuty colony levels. The game's a blast to play for a while, but I suggest that you buy it with the sequel (especially if the now useless demo of Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't packaged with it.)so the ending doesn't cheese you off like it did to some people. I bought both at the same time so I don't care.

The Best game so far

This game is the bomb. Im a hard person to please with a game but this one hit a grand slam. The graphis are awsome along with the deep story ,and sweet control. Not only is the game outstanding ,it even comes with about a 1 hour demo for MGS2 (Metal Gear Solid 2). If your thinking about buying a game I would strongly recommend this game to anyone.

Ingenious game design.....but game has flaws.

Zone Of The Enders is a fast paced mech fighting game. This game really shows how powerful the PS2 is by having excellent 3D graphics moving at a fast framerate.

The gameplay was design to match up perfectly with this type of game. Movements are very smooth and accurate. The camera turns the way the intense battle is so you will have the full advantage.

Sounds are a biggy here. Sound effects are in a techno style and coincides with the movements and fighting. The music are techno.

This game's only and MOST dissapointing flaw is the storyline. The whole story is not that exciting but it just ends suddenly. One minute you're killing this frame and the next a mysterious "Anubis" frame appears and wrecks you. You escape and that's the end of the game. You don't even get to fight that guy again.

A rewarding feature is the versus mode. Once you have completed the game, versus mode becomes available. This is where players go to just pratice agaisnt the computer. Or, you can go head to head with one of your friends. Completing rescue missions and getting a good rating opens up some characters.

This game will leave you hanging, and hopefully there will be a sequel to where it ended. Overall this game is pretty basic to play and has good reply values.

What a joke.

Well, It seems that you can't trust Konami. They come out with great games like Metal Gear Solid, but also produce [junk] like this. The demo disc, well it's worth it, but you can buy the game now. The gameplay is horrible. It's just a giant robot collding into other robots in order for them to explode. WOW! And that awful awful AWFUL soundtrack.[Bad] techno with a singer who's genitals were ripped open by fishing knives. The voice acting [stunk], espicially Leo...Bad game. Don't waste your time.

nothing

What is the japanese obsession with teenage boys saving the world? seriously. Its unrealistic. Sure its a robot game. But think of it as a future game. In the future little kids would be able to defeat army people? I doubt it. This game was fun and pretty and cool. But it was short and kind of repetitive.

Too Short? Does it matter?

Lot of people who have played ZOE say it's too short. I have to agree, but there is something that can overcome that. The games easy to learn controls, amazing graphics, cool weapons, and great gameplays.

The game comes also along with the MGS 2 demo, which is probably the only reason ZOE is rated M.

But ZOE also has some more bads too. You have to beat the game before you can play Versus mode.

Well, The game is still awsome though. I mean who gives, Hideo Kojima is porobably going to make "Zone of the Enders: 2."
