This is the greatest game I have ever played. The movie was great, but the game was so much cooler. The levels and the characters are so real that it's just phenomenal.
If you are looking for codes, to unlock Faramir, the code is x,x,t,t. t is triangle. That is for PS2, so for everyone who has Gamecube or XBOX, tough luck.

I bought this game recently and I love it. It is much better than the Two Towers game, for you can play as 9 characters, including Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, and Faramir. The upgrades that you can buy with experience points are fantastic and much much better than the Two Towers upgrades. Also, this game has a sort of "choose your own ending" theme, for you can either play the Path of the King levels as Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli, the Path of the Ring, playing as any of the hobbits (only Sam and Frodo at first; you unlock Merry and Pippin as you progress), and the Path of the Wizard as Gandalf. Once you beat the game, you unlock interviews with the actors who play Merry, Pippin, Faramir, and the actor Andy Serkis (who plays Gollum). Also, you unlock a bonus level "Palantir of Saruman." There is twenty floors in which you battle the dead warriors, archers, many other foes. After you beat this level, there is one more level that you have not unlocked yet. There is only one way to get this level, and that is to get Sam, Gandalf, and either Legolas, Aragorn, or Gimli to level 10. Once you do that, the "Palantir of Sauron" level will be playable. This is my favorite level because it gives your character tons and tons of experience points. If you want to get a TON of "perfects," all you have to do is build Legolas up to level 10. Then, you get arrows that penetrate enemies, and the Elven Bow Mastery skill. This allows you to fire two arrows at two different targets at the same time. Also, Gandalf is very powerful once you get him to level 10, along with Farimir. All of the other characters are mediocre, but that is my opinion. I would reccomend this game, not because the single player function, but for the online and co-op gameplay modes. Although the single player aspect of the game may become frustrating (on such levels as Osgiliath, Pelennor Fields, and Minas Tirith; The Top of the Wall), it gives you a great sense of satisfaction after you beat the levels. OK, here's a level summary:
Helm's Deep: This is a tutorial level in which you play as Gandalf. You pretty much can't die, so try your best. Once you beat this, you unlock Paths of the Dead.
PATH OF THE KING
Paths of the Dead: Like most of the levels in this game, this one is unique and difficult. It takes place in the Dead Mountain and doesn't give you much experience points (EXP).
King of the Dead: This level throws you in right off the bat fighting the King of the Dead. He is mostly easy on co-op mode, but can be challenging on single player. Once you defeat him, you must run out of the mountain with the ground collapsing behind you. If you fall, you either (A) in single player, start out after defeating the King of the Dead, or (B) in co-op, start the whole level over again. Once you make it out, you beat the level.
They supply endless hours of fun and excitement.
Great game!

With October basically done with and the looming Christmas season on it's heels, it's no suprise to me that the best video games are hitting shelves. Lord Of The Ring: Return of The King from EA Interactive is proving to be a smash hit, as was EA's Lord of The Ring: The Two Towers.
I own 'TT' and it's one of my favorite personal games for Playstation 2. Getting 'ROTK' should be no problem, right? Well...another game just recently came out that made me second-think that $50... CastleVania: Lament of Innocense. I've been a huge CastleVania fan since Bloodlines back in the late 90's, so I was hoping this new chapter would be the best. It's good. It's not "Symphony of The Night'-fantastic, but good.
I'll eventually get the CastleVania game (I've rented it from a local chain and within three days, i've close to beaten it), but my money is going straight to Return Of The King.
The next games for you to check would be Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 and possibly Gran Turismo 4. Both ship sometime in January( info as of October 28)

I loved the Two Towers for ps2 so this one should be even better. I heard that there is going to be multiplayer on Return of the King so u can have two players playing on one mission. I am going to buy this game right away.
The Return of the King is the best game ever made!

This is such a great game. Now you can be Frodo,Sam,and Gandalf. It isn't that hard. I beat it in 3 days. There are about 13 levels. I was disapointed with the Two Towers. Some levels are Osgiliath,Minias Tirith,Black Gate,and Crinith Ungol. My favorite level was the Black Gate. There are 3 secret characters Faramir,Merry,and Pippin. The co-op mode is cool. The graphics are awesome. The dumbest level is the Crack of Doom. All you do is fight Gollum. Any average gamer should beat this game in less than 4 days. You can get your guys past level 10! I have Legolas at level 20. Legolas is the best character.
Legolas=fast,good ranged attack,weak
Gimli=slow,bad ranged attack,and strong
Aragorn=medium speed,ok ranged attack,medium strength
Gandalf=medium speed,good ranged attack,ok strength
Frodo=medium speed,bad ranged attack,weak
Sam=slow,bad ranged attack,strong
Faramir=slow,good ranged attack,strong
Merry and Pippin=slow,bad ranged attack,pretty strong
Legolas has cool skills like his Elven bow Mastery shoots two arrows at once. Every guy has a special move. Gandalf has a sheild thing that kills anything in its path. Legolas,Aragorn,and Gimli's makes them stronger and gets them in perfect mode faster. The hobbits can turn invisable. The secret level is dumb. It's just like the two towers secret level. There are 20 floors. I got to floor 17. The orcs are so relistic. You can be anyone on any level exept Helms Deep,you have to be Gandalf. You can throw spears,shoot catapults,and pour buckets of fire. There is no mouth movement. Why do people complain at the camera. It's fine. If I can't see my guy I just slash my enemys even though I can't see them. I like being Legolas on Crinith Ungol[the one where Sam rescues Frodo]. There are bosses including trolls,mini trolls,a strong orc,Saurons messenger,the Witch King,3 Nazgul,Shelob,the king of the dead and Golum. Your allies are actully good on this game. You get to kill oliphants which are easy. I like throwing spears because they go into the guys. The upgrades are way better. I love turning invisable with the hobbits.You can sneak behind orcs and stab them in the back. This is one of my favorite games. Frodo is fun to be. He can't put the ring on. Instead he and all of the hobbits use their elven cloaks. The banes are really dumb on this game. There are places like on the Southern Gate where there are unlimited orcs. I haven't used one cheat code at all yet. Legolas only has 30 arrows. Gandalf dosen't have unlimited magic,I guess it makes it more realistic. Every guy has 30 ranged attacks. This is a really easy game. You won't be disapointed. Great job Ea games you made a masterpeice!

The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King is the best game of all, by my reckoning. Especially since you can take the characters in the game to places they didnt actually go in the film. Take Pippin for example... take him to... Osgiliath, or Paths of the Dead. Yeah, take Pippin to paths of the dead, lets have some fun! In Return of the King, I think the best party to stay with is the path of the King. You get to experience the battles for middle earth there, along with a few in gandalf's part. The path of the hobbits is pretty cool, i guess, but aragorns part is awesome. If your a smart person, u would bye The Return of the King, im glad I did!

Anyone who is a fan of the LOTR movies will surely want to play this game. The way the game integrates movie scenes with game scenes, the battle system, the branching storylines, and the fact you get to play as Gandalf are all excellent aspects of this game. The overall dynamic and layout of the game makes it seem like you are actually controlling the events of the movie. The battle system is fast and furious displaying many enemies on screen, but this hardly ever causes any slowdown or game distortion. The soundtrack is slightly above average, and the character voices are decent. Several characters do not sound like their movie counterparts so this may aggrevate a few hard-core players.
Nevertheless, the game is marred by a few negative factors. First, the missions get increasingly harder as the game progresses. Some might think this is what is supposed to happen, but several missions are almost impossible complete, and take numerous attempts to defeat. Also, I am not sure this game provides enough in the replay value department to make it a truly must have game. Unless you just enjoy sitting down for an hour or two and slashing through orcs, this game may not hold your interest for an extended period of time. Nevertheless, these are small considerations to take into account, and do not detract that much from the overall quality and fun of the game.

This is the best two player game I've ever played. In the dark, on a big screen TV, hooked up to a good stereo, just adds to the excitement. The graphics are great also. I would recommend going on-line and printing out a faq (help/walkthrough). Some parts are tricky- like the level where you have to run out of the place before it falls down. Not only do you have to know where your going, but you have to wiggle the directional button back and forth while your going forward so the bolders don't stop you as much. So now that you that, you may have even more fun than I had! Look up how to beat Golem also- push, hit, kill move!
