This was another gift for my husband, and he loves Sonic so he was really happy when he got this. He says it is a lot of fun, and it goes very well with the Sonic Rush Adventure. Which was just a ploy to get me to buy both, but it was worth it!

Simply amazing

Simply awesome and addictive. The music above all. Besides, the game is easy to beat. Despite having two playable characters, the game is still fun to play especially playing the game as Blaze the cat because she's so cool.

A decent Sonic installment

For every good Sonic game that comes out now, there's about 4 or 5 bad ones. Sonic Rush is one of the good ones, although it has its shortcomings.
The basic gameplay is classic Sonic: extremely fast side-scrolling in a 2D environment. The level designs are creative and very colorful. There are other gameplay elements that work well too. The boss battles are a new, refreshing experience and are fun. However, both the side-scrolling and boss battles can get very repetitive. The game also utilizes the touch screen of the DS with the chaos emerald bonus challenges. For the most part it works well, but it seems that the developers just through it in the game to add a touch screen aspect.
Irritating aspects of the game include the music and certain enemy placement. You'll be flying through a level, snagging rings, when BAM! An enemy will appear in your path and you'll have less than a split second to react. This breaks up the pace of certain levels and only acts as an annoyance.
The ability to play as Blaze the Cat adds length and replay value to the game. However, it fails to offer any new features because Blaze's levels are the same as Sonic's.
Despite its flaws, Sonic Rush is a decent game and a very good Sonic game. It is a definite hit in a long streak of misses in the Sonic franchise.

A straight forward Sonic game that returns to its roots.

Sonic has strayed from his 2D lineage in recent years to try and compete with the likes of Mario and Ratchet and Clank in the 3D realm of platforming. With the exception of the adventure series, his attempts have been futile. Now, I had been hearing that the hand-held Sonic games were still solid additions to the series, so when I saw this game sued, I decided I'd give it a try.

The graphics here are essentially the traditional 2D look with some tweaks. First of all the characters themselves are 3D models, while the background, along with the game-play itself, is still largely 2D. This provides a unique look to the game, that I personally like. It's sort of like bringing the old Sonic games into the new age of gaming. The backgrounds are all well done and very colorful, in the usual Sonic fashion. Everything is pretty traditional, with some 3D effects added.

The soundtrack is pretty typical for a Sonic game. Not bad, but not amazing either. Fast paced rock with bad lyrics and some techno. I just turned off the music and listened to my ipod while playing.

The game-play is classic Sonic game-play for the most part. Very fast with solid level design and power ups. Although sometimes I just can't shake the feelings that I'm just pressing forward and occasionally jumping so I don't fall into a pit. This is especially the case when you pick up enough speed to just run straight through your enemies. They did add in a few novelties here and there like swinging on a chain to reach an otherwise unattainable place. However, this has all been done before, and you really don't come across things like that very often in the game. You can also play as Blaze for aome more game-play value. The boss fights are in 3D to mix up the game-play a bit, and it actually works quite well. Why they can't accomplish this in the console attempts of a 3D Sonic is beyond me.

If you're a Sonic fan you should check this game out. If you're just into platformers, you'll probably enjoy this as well. This is essentially what the console Sonic games should be.

This is my first game for my NDS, and I am very impressed with everything. Graphics are bright and detailed, and the music is incredibly upbeat and catchy! I would love to own the soundtrack! As far as difficulty goes, it is not as difficult as Sonic games for other systems, especially the bosses. However, just because it is not as hard does not mean that it's not as fun! Also, this is the first game where I've been able to play as Blaze the Cat. While she is not as fast, it's still fun to play as her. I think the music is a different version when she plays too (Blazzy mix?). I recommend this game to those looking for some good portable Sonic fun!

Great game for the money. Son just loves it and has made a great addition to his already numerous Sonic games for Game Cube

A new direction for Sonic 2D, some will like it, some won't...

I am a fan of 2D Sonic, and also like the 3D offerings. I had high hopes for this game, and I was surprised to find that I just didn't enjoy it. After finishing a few acts I just don't have any desire to go back to it.

Sonic Rush features more cheap deaths than any other 2D Sonic game I've every played. Usually I would die without any idea what happened. I'd just sail into a bottomless pit, or be trapped underwater with no air pockets and no idea how to get out. Most of the stages looked pretty much the same start to finish, so I didn't have any clues about where exactly I needed to slow down or jump. Keep in mind that you really CAN'T go slow to learn the level even if you want to; if you aren't running fast you will just get stuck on a swing or be unable to complete a leap. Tails can't help you either--he's developed the voice of pre-teen girl and only acts as Sonic's cheerleader. The new character, Blaze, has slightly different moves but doesn't give you any new ways of finishing an act.

The only way to really play this game is to memorize the level and blaze through. If you prefer Sonic Advance's mazelike levels with lots of possible routes, you are likely to be disappointed.

Pros:
1. Very fast speed.
2. New moves, and the ability to charge moves by doing acrobatics during leaps.
3. 3D elements.

Cons:
1. Very fast speed...too fast for the small LCD screen on the DS, in my opinion. You can't really see where you are going. At full speed, you likely won't even see an oncoming badnik, spikes, or a pit in time to react. You'll need to be good at level memorization.
2. Cheap deaths. Miss a jump...you die. Bottomless pits everywhere.
3. Uninteresting, linear levels with few visual cues to tell you where you are.
4. Hip hop club style music...some people like it, I found it incredibly annoying.
5. Tails is not playable!

Why do you people hate this masterpice??!!

This is a great game!!You rush around HUGE loops and race underwater and...
well it would take too long to explain all the other good qualities if this GREAT game.Oh for you who own the game Blaze lasts 45 seconds underwater and Sonic only 30.The only bad thing is it's a bit harder on Blaze. So what are you waiting for?? Go get this wonderful game!

Boring... Not worth the money

I used to love playing the Sonic games on my Sega Genesis so I was very excited to receive this game. I played for about 5 minutes and put it back in its box. Boring, boring, boring... I doubt I'll ever play it again.
