This is for sure an incredible fighting game. if you like to hang out on the night with your friends and just play some fighting games, then this game is for you. I think what makes this game so incredible is that it never gets old. You can play for months and you will still have something to unlock or best in this game, be it a new costume, weapon, mission, video or anything. The mode Chronicles of the Sword is absolutely amaizing, you can improve your character up to level 99, work with tactical maneuvers to beat the opposing army, and even customize the pregenerated characters they give you.
The graphics are beautiful, the modes of play are varied and fun, and the amount of characters (25) is just enough to give you from where to choose.
In short: it's a great game, worth buying if you like good fighting games.

I have been working on my soul callous since I first started playing Soul Calibur II in the arcade several years ago. I love this game. It is addictive, and I keep coming back to it. Soul Calibur III builds off of Soul Calibur II by adding characters and having different, smoother graphics than its predicessor. Anyone who likes fighting games needs Soul Calibur III.

Some of the control changes are awkward. Not really sure why you can't just play a simple arcade mode. "Chronicles of the Sword" feels clunky because of all of the load-times. A Pretty game, but unnecessarily complicated.

The game is fun. We were hoping it was more like Soul 2, but it is not quite as user friendly. We still enjoy playing it as a family!!
The best until SOUL Cal. 4 comes to the PC/360/PS3

This is the best "3d" game street fighter-esque game there has ever been out, not in the arcade, but at home.

If you are interested in fighting games, Soul Calibur is always a safe bet. They tried some new stuff with this one, and the "strategy" section of the gameplay is sort of hit and miss. Overall it is alot of fun to play, but the new stuff they added may turn some people away. I would say that if you just want to play with your friends you'll have no problems enjoying it at all. One of the best new things added is the ability to create your own fighter and customize the way they look, I really liked that idea. The fighting styles are pretty limited for them, but you can't really expect too much as far as that goes (I remember trying to play Fighter Maker a long while back, and it is way way way too much work to make your own moves on your own step by step).
I'd say that if you are considering this game and you liked the others, get it. If you haven't played the others, then maybe you should rent it first. You just might be surprised at how much you enjoy it.
Tekken's more attractive sibling

The first difference between this and Tekken is weapons. This was the only difference to beign with but in the end this has come out on top.
Firstly is the amazingly good character creator system which may not be as detailed as other games (Tony Hawk games are quite accurate) it still feels really satisfying to watch your creation slice up classics like Voldo and Mitsurugi. Nice and simple.
The modes here are very varied for those who have time and for those who just want quick relief. For those who really want depth there is the long Chronicles of the Sword mode which involves basic strategy with the same beat em up power on the real game. It also has a nice little story in it and although the strategy system isn't revolutionary it is enough to keep you entertained. Another mode is the Tales of the Souls, which is like the arcade mode but what you choose affects who you fight against; however after you've played it a few times you'll realise that everyone's story is very similar and the only thing seperating them is the ending. The other mode is Arena mode which is basically a random choice of very random modes (fighting a giant statue!?) that are used for quick relief and addictive gameplay which is what they do best.
The characters in this series is literally the entire set. Although there aren't many ? squares in the selection process there is a small area where they've shoved random old characters (does anyone remember Li Long and Hwang?) along with some random other characters. One of the biggest selections so far.
Overall...buy it if you have a craving for a good beat em up. If you don't like it then you don't like beat em ups so that's not my problem; everyone else is welcome though.

If you loved Tekken, this is probably the best gift you can ever get. It's fun, you get to create your own character, and it has stunning moves and graphics! I HIGHLY recommend this game to fighting lovers and newcomers alike.

Soul Calibur III builds nicely onto the series with the exception of no online play. Contrary to the previous chapter, part 3 of the saga was an exclusive to the Playstation 2.
Soul Calibur 3 introduces a handful of new characters, such as Zasalamel with a scythe, Tira with a large ring blade and Setsuka with her sword in a parasol. New modes have also been added, such as Tales of the Soul (story mode) and Chronicles of the Sword, which allows players to use their own custom character from the Character Creation feature.
You can unlock a host of weapons, armor and clothing along the way for your custom character as well as unlocking items for all your favorites from the past games. There have been reports of a file corruption within certain aspects of the game, such as the Chronicles of the Sword, but I have never encountered any problems myself.
Overall, if you've enjoyed the previous Soul games, you'll be pleased with part 3. It delivers on all fronts, but if you're thinking of picking this one up, you better hurry. Part four comes out soon and in my opinion it will be delivering a swift "Ring Out" to the previous titles.
