This game is great. It is a bit difficult to master and discover all of the attacks, but the characters are cool, and the game even alows you to design your own custom fighter, not to mention there are a couple of diffrent modes to play in. Overall, a very fun game.
Extremely Satisfied

Stunning graphics, great characters, interesting weapons and an easy-to-master fighting system make this Soul Calibur the best of the bunch so far. And let's not forget the incredibly deep create a fighter feature.
If you've played the other games in this series, you know what to expect (Voldo). You know the fighting is based around weapons, and there is an intriguing back story for all the fighters. A lot of care was put into the creation of this game and it shows. If you've never played any of the games in this series, this is an excellent place to start. You need not have played the other games to appreciate the characters here, and the controls take but a second to learn. It's what a fighting game should be ... and more.

Namco has done again with their latest incarnation of the Soulcalibur franchise. Classic and new fighters (four) clash in battle to claim the two legendary swords. Select your fighter and continue in an epic quest in "Tales of Souls" or enjoy the new real-time strategy of "Chronicles of the Sword." Featuring new battle stages and music, Soulcalibur delivers hours of entertainment with a new character creation mode as well as many other modes that the series in known for. A blast to play with friends,
it's like having the arcade in your home. Four stars out of five.

Soul Calibur III was the third game I purchased in this genre of fighting, and it is by far the best I've played. Of course, there are always problems to be dealt with, so these were mine:
-Frustrating interface- The menu interface at times was a little frustrating to navigate, as to get to certain options, you'd have to backtrack all the way to the beginning and work your way over. After a while you start to get annoyed.
-CPU AI can get VERY difficult. They will string together high combo moves in one go, reducing your health anywhere from 1/4-2/3 with just one combo.
-Load times can seriously hamper your game play experience, when going between battles in CotS, and when shopping for armor.
-Unique storyline what? Each of the characters basically follow the same route, fight the same ending boss, etc etc. The only replay value is to unlock characters, items and weapons.
-English voices were a pain. However, the staff were kind enough to include the japanese voices, so I switched to that.
The pro's:
-Highly customizable character creation. There is a huge selection of armors (you can choose the colors as well) available for you to create a character of your liking. This is one of my favorite parts of the game. If only they had more character slots! (You can unlock an extra in the game though)
-Beautiful graphics. The graphics are fantastic, utilizing the PS2's processor to its fullest extent. Everything is smooth, no cutting or anything of the sort. However, widescreen mode on a relatively large TV will result in blurry text, which can make your eyes watery. Actual combat however is perfectly fine.
-Extra side-games help keep you supplied with a variety of things to do, such as the CotS, the Soul Arena, and tournaments. All will earn you gold towards the shops, and continuous battling will allow you to unlock more items to further enhance your gameplay. (Also, you will need to play all of them in order to unlock all aspects of the game)
-VS Mode! This game is a great hit for parties, where you can fight against your friends. In a group of people where nobody knows what they're doing, or the extreme opposite where you have die-hard fans, everyone will enjoy this game alike.
Bottom line: You really can't say no to a game that has such a cheap price tag and so much stuff bundled into the game. This game offers countless hours of gameplay and stunning graphics.
This time its for real

This game is fun just like part2 is but this one is better. More characters more stages and great graphics. The storymode was fun to and i beat it, it's was more better then soulcalibar2's storymode cause that one was hard but this one was a little easier. The attacks are the same but just some new ones for the old characters but this game was fun.
soooo fun!!!!!!!!!!!

When I first saw this game, I thought it was the same thing as Tekken and Mortal Combat. It does have this mode (versus mode) but it also has other things as well. My two boys enjoy the fact that they can create and arm characters. You choose what type of character you want to create, be it a male or female character, and then add all the attire (armor, helmets, weapons, etc.) You can even choose the voice, the hair color and the eye colors for the character, and the colors of their attire, which my sons have found fun to do. Aside from that, there is a mode where you have different quests, and they can send their newly created character on that quest, to conquer the enemy strongholds. For a teenage audience, who like the "fights" games, this I have found to be more interesting than others I've seen.
Fun Fun Fun

I was pumped when I bought this game at the store, but as soon as I popped it in, I was seriously disappointed. After playing a few matches with most of the characters, a friend and I started playing Soul Cal 2 again for XBox. The graphics are worse, the sounds/speech is worse, the movements are slower...I could go on forever, baby. I really want to know what Namco was thinking when they were making this. We were joking, but being serious, that if we had been told this game was for PSOne, we would believe them. Any advanced Soul Cal player should say that this game blows. If they had taken Soul Cal 2, and used the new characters, made a new Weapon Master, and used the new outfits, then I would actually be pleased with spending $50 on this game. Everyone, do yourself a favor and don't buy this game, and if you don't have Soul Calibur 2, get that instead.
