I ordered Triple Play 2001, eve though it is on pre-order and I anticipate it to be the best MLB game for the Playstation ever created. EA Sports has always done extremely well with their baseball games and I think that this game will add more competition for games like MLB 2001 and High Heat Baseball 2001. I'm a Braves fan, and even though MLB 2001 has Chipper on the cover and Triple Play 2001 has Mike Piazza, I still chose Triple Play because as long as I have played Triple Play has offered so much more tha MLB. ( not intended to offend 989Sports )

A great baseball experience

Among the first things I noticed about TP 2001 where the graphics. While not a great improvement over last year, this year's players look more "human." And as far as the gameplay, it's as solid as ever. Be sure try fielding from the defensive player's point of view. The addition of the 500 home run club members, as well as the Big League Challenge, adds a great deal of replay value to the game. The only gripe I have with 2001 is the roster, as Ken Griffey Jr.'s still in Seattle. If you're a baseball fan, or a fan of baseball video games, I'd seriously consider picking this one up.

EA Sports makes the best baseball game in the business. However, the game still suffers from some fundamental problems. The designers seem too concerned with graphics and "rewards" and lose sight of what should be the prime focus of the game: baseball. Still no past balls and no injuries. Instead, you can earn the ability to play with mini-teams or watch players argue with umpires (which seems totally unnecessary).

Still, it is the best baseball game I've seen and control over pitching/batting is great. I recommend the game.

This has to be the best baseball game for the Playstation today! With new games like the Extreme Home Run Challenge and great gameplay make this game in a whole new league. I recommend this game for everyone who loves EA Sports.

This game is a disappointment.

The truly wonderful thing about last years TP2K was the framerate was cranked up to a consistant 30 fps. The animation is very, very choppy in TP2001, which makes it difficult to understand how Electronic Arts could regress so much in a years time. The new facial mapping is nice, but the stadiums seem to have taken a hit looks-wise in the process. The much touted defensive point of view fielding option is fairly difficult to get used to, and the decreased framerate doesn't make it easier.

On the positive side, the AI hitters aren't hitting your pitching quite as easily as in TP2K -- you can strike them out. The fielding controls are responsive, as are the hitting controls. The "Big League Challenge" extreme mode is pretty fun, combining homerun derby with target practice. There is something to be said for the sight of the Babe launching an opposite field homer straight at a glass building, shattering windows in the process. The audio, as always, is excellent.

I gave this title 3 stars because TP2001 isn't quite bad enough to warrant 2 stars. There are enough positives to recommend this title to newcomers of the TP series. Veteran TP players may want to rent it first, however.

Extreme challenge good but, stadiums and sound are the same

The extreme big league challenge is a lot of fun but the stadiums haven't changed. The fielding is easier and more realistic. The pitching meter is a good improvement. I agree with another reviewer that the arguing with the umpires is useless. Too bad they could not use that idea for rain or a realistic looking crowd. If Madden 2000 could have weather why not Triple Play 2001.

EA's Triple Play No. 1 Once Again

I was unsure weather to by this game or wait until every thing else came out but I'm glad I bought this game play is good players are more realistic especially in clutch situations. Let's say Top 8th 2 Out Runners at second and thrid Derek Jeter at the Plate against some Jabroni pitcher,BOOM two run double. I think you'll love this game. Play-by-Play Still the best Jim Hughson & Buck Martinez do a Great Job. Quick Tip: Don't Just Skip To All-Star Mode you'll get tagged

Addictive, fun, full of variety, great gameplay, awesome!

For those of you expecting more out of Triple Play from last year then be relieved. The framerate is pretty fast, the stadiums are very awesome, it has more variety than ever before and is the extreme challenge is unique and addictive. What's different from TP 2000? Well, for starters you have 4-5 unique stadiums to chose from in extreme challenge. Have you ever wanted to play in someone's living room. Well you can in one of the extreme stadiums. In each stadium you get points for hitting various objects and targets outside the fences in the outfield. Now, you can choose the all-time legends like Babe Ruth, and Ted Williams. In the Season mode you have all-star voting which is done after each game. A vote tally is given for each League and position. Also, in the season mode as you are playing a season throughout a game you can unlock codes which can give you rewards like Increased defensive power, etc. The list goes on and on.

Overrall, this year's TP 2001 will not be matched. Perhaps Dreamcast will have a game with better graphics but the gameplay is what always count. TP 2001, in my opinion, is the best there has ever been and can only be beat by TP 2002 or when PS2 comes out with a better baseball game. EA SPORTS HITS ANOTHER HOMERUN!

Buy it now before supplies run out.

This game is much better than last years.I feel that last year's game sucked and was cheaply done. One of the few things I hate about this year's game is you must have a memory card to play a game in season play which sucks if you do not have one.I also do not like the way this game portrays the throws of the players.I do like the Major League Baseball Challenge because it adds something to the game. However I feel that it lacks the realism of games like All-Star Baseball.
