Unfortunately, I do not have fellow gamers to play against so I am forced to play the computer as an opponent. One would think that with all of the realistic game-play and other options that this would be a sweet deal, well it isn't. The CPU is very unrealistic in its ability to play, it is easily mastered and becomes very unchallenging long before the All-Star break. This happens no matter what level of play you select or what kind of strategy you unleash. I played 40 or so games into the season and now my game just sits, collecting dust. I have bought my last EA Sports game no matter how enticing the synopsis or the graphic's snapshots on the back of the package may be.

I ordered Triple Play 2001, eve though it is on pre-order and I anticipate it to be the best MLB game for the Playstation ever created. EA Sports has always done extremely well with their baseball games and I think that this game will add more competition for games like MLB 2001 and High Heat Baseball 2001. I'm a Braves fan, and even though MLB 2001 has Chipper on the cover and Triple Play 2001 has Mike Piazza, I still chose Triple Play because as long as I have played Triple Play has offered so much more tha MLB. ( not intended to offend 989Sports )

the guy who said that this game had no pitch control, no way to tell how tired your pitcher is and that fielding is impossible doesnt know what he is talking about. as for the first two, he is plain wrong, and as for fielding, it can get a little tricky on allstar level, but once you get used to it, it's not bad; even diving isnt that hard. the game is a lot of fun, but it doesnt have the greatest replay value, unless you play it againt another person. the historic players are fun, but they are so good that they kind of make the game too easy. anyways, as far as baseball games go, this is one of the best ive ever played. my only real complaint is that i find baserunning to be a pain in the ass, and ive been tagged out many times because i couldnt run the bases like i wanted to.

I would like to say first off "Super Stars of Baseball is the finest baseball game ever produced"(nec) Followed closely by World Series Baseball(genesis). Triple Play 2001 is hardly what you would expect from a company who created and set the standard for all Football games as we know them today. TP2K1 Has a terrible pitching interface. No pitch location. No way to tell if your pitcher is starting to wear down. Well that is until the ball leaves the park. Baseball is and always will be a game of total balance. TP2K1 lacks this element. Fielding is a mess. Just shagging a simple grounder is impossible. And forget about diving. The best part of this game is the legends. They are a wonderful addition. As long as you spend the time to unlock them otherwise the home run contest is your only way of using them. And lets talk about homerun contests. DO you think a homerun contest should go 180 or more ? No man. Nobody can sit and do that mindless activity forever. Batting during the game has been narrowed for us by those master minds at EA. Basically timing is your only hope. You can't even foul of a bad pitch. Nothing but timing. This needs to be reworked. Take my advise and wait for World Series on the Dream Cast.

EA Sports makes the best baseball game in the business. However, the game still suffers from some fundamental problems. The designers seem too concerned with graphics and "rewards" and lose sight of what should be the prime focus of the game: baseball. Still no past balls and no injuries. Instead, you can earn the ability to play with mini-teams or watch players argue with umpires (which seems totally unnecessary).
Still, it is the best baseball game I've seen and control over pitching/batting is great. I recommend the game.
Pretty good...but not the best

Don't get me wrong - this is a great game but it's missing alot of things that I expected. Also having to save the game before you start and after you finish is a pain! Great graphics though. For a cd-rom game I would expect the announccers to be able to say more things instead of "he's madder than a nest of hornets" every time a batter strikes out.

Triple Play 2001 is alot better than the previous games. I enjoy the legends of the game and the Home Run Challenge. I wish that they would have the dynasty part on this game like they do in the football games that EA Sports puts out. I also don't like the fact of having to wait until the end of the game to be able to collect the rewards. Keep up the good work EA.

1) No injury. 2) All points are earned to the pitcher. 3) Too many errors. 4) Unrealistic rosters (ex: 15 pitchers with the Expos). 5) Stupid play-by-play. 6) Too many foul balls.
Not a big improvment from 2000

Overall this game was ok, but i would like to see a few things change. I won 14-0 on Pro mode. Like last year this game is not challenging. MLB 2001 i have heard is very challenging; i will check that title out. I like the Extreme HomeRun challenge only setback is it takes a while and is hard to win. I also think the announcing is terrible. Same as last year you hear the same catch phrases as last year. The game is fun with fair graphics and a few new fun modes. Otehrwise its nothihng to get excited about.
