This game was boring. It does not even compare to part 2. If I were to compare it to part 3, I might as well compare a Playstation game to a Atari game.

DON'T BUY THIS! APART FROM NEW CAMERA ANGLES AND NEW CLOTHES AND EXTRA BAD GUYS THIS IS UTTERLY POINTLESS. NOT QUITE AS BAD AS GUN SURVIVOR, THOUGH.
the original and gamcube versions are much better!

First off this game takes off some of the best bosses and many of the good areas. The original and gamecube versions are much much better. Get them instead of this one or if your a collecter get this one but dont bother playing it inless you dont like the other longer versions. And that dead guy you find at the biggining wont have that tape you would find on the other games which is a big downfall well not really but still. it can still be quite scary but not as and since its the playstation version the graphics arn't as good as the gamecube(im sad to say this seeing as I prefer the playstation to the gamecube). Irt just stinks
Better to play RE1 before RE2

I bought RE2 before RE1DC, and not suprisingly, RE1 was a bit disappointing. It is a great game and I enjoy playing it, but once one is accustomed to playing RE2, RE1 seems a little "lame". Kind of like driving a Lexus around for a while, then changing to a Corrolla. Still a nice car, but not quite the same.
Don't get me wrong, I HIGHLY recommend the game, but if you're just getting into the RE series, buy and play them in order.
Good game

This was the second RE game that I played, and though good, it did not live up to RE 2...
...In fun factor. But I did enjoy the puzzles and challenge of it.
Here are my opinions of the whole thing:
Graphics:*** (Great for an old game, but they should have made them better for the new version.)
Sound:** (The sound effects are great, but in the dual shock version [the one I have] the music is different and not as good, plus the dialogue [is bad])
Control:**** {Great control, but the walking is kind of hard to get used to)
Fun:***1/2 (Overall a good game, just not great.)
O.K.

The second release of the original horror game, you are put back in control of Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, which are stuck in a mansion full of man eating monsters. Is this really supposed to be a directors cut? Well it ain't, the extra blood and gore is nowhere to be found. Not much has changed, except the music. What was once a spine tiggling beats are now things that make the game less scarier. Dual Shock? Not really a big deal. Sure there are tremors, but it doesn't really spice up the game. Directors Cut is still good, but only worth getting if you don't already own the original. R.E. veterans, stick to a rental.
A Great Game With More Flaws Than Any Other Out There

I have played this through several times because the puzzles are excellent and you kill zombies. There are many puzzles I still haven't solved and I may end up playing though again just to see whats there. Also, some of the graphics were nice and I love the fear, even though I played RE's 2&3 first, this one scared me the most (but being the first I played, only RE2 gave me nightmares for months). I will agree, this game is hard core, and there is plenty to like about it. I love interactive movie feeling like Final Fantasy VII and Wing Commander: Prophecy.
However, now I will list what I didn't like. Why I only gave it three stars. Well, to start off, the cinematics are not only outdated, but horribly done to begin with. If I made the game, I would have just said: "Y'know, that was really bad, let's just not have a cinematic." Also, the movement is quite shabby and fake looking, and while a zombie hovers into a standing position, you can't shoot him until he is standing up and walking toward you.
If you think that such a picky thing about positioning, picking up items is worse. You can commonly at a position in which you appear to be facing an item perfectly, but you can't pick it up, because it's really 30 degrees to your left or something like that. With these positions, you are forced to listen to mind-numbing music. I thought the sound effects were bad and the voice acting made the sound bad enough, but they had to go and give us the abolute worst soundtrack you will ever find, for any game or B-Movie. The only trouble with the music is that you require listening to the sound effects to survive, and so you must endure the music as well!
However, the music is beaten in abysmal-ness by its dialogue. The script is terrible, and to say the voice acting is laughably bad would be a huge understatement. It doesn't end there. The pitiful dialogue scenes do nothing but tell one of the most cliche-ridden plots ever devised. You have police traitors, huge creatures that come out of rooms that you just came out of to kill you, and worst of all, you have about three dozen times through the two stories (which are almost identical) where people walk in just in the nick of time to save the other. That type of stuff makes me sick. You are alone for about two hours, when suddenly a trap goes off, right as your partner happens to be right outside.
Lets rate everything: Images: 8, Movement: 5, Script: 1.5, Sound Effects: 6, Background Story: 5, Music: 0.5, Voice Acting: 0, Puzzles: 10+, Mosters: 5/6, Weapons: 8, Fear: 9.5, Plot/Sequence of Events: -2.

THIS GAME IS FRIGGIN' FRUSTATING BUT FUN MOST OF THE TIME. IT'S
PUZZLES ARE VERY CLEVER WHICH OFFERS CHALLENGE.THE THINGS I HATE
ARE:
1.U CANT SKIP THE CUT-SCENES
2.INSANLEY FRUSTRATING
3.NOT ALL OF THE GRAPHICS ARE GOOD.(EXCEPT 4 THE BACKROUNDS)
4.CRAPPY CAMERA ANGLES
5.NOT AS GOOD AS RE4 OR RE2
6.DIFFICULT CONTROLS
7.CLUNKY COMBAT
SO PEOPLE, THIS MIGHT BE WORTH A RENTAL. ITS SCARY BUT ITS NOT AS GOOD AS SILENT HILL,RESIDENT EVIL 2OR4.
IF YOU HAVE A GCUBE,GET RESIDENT EVIL 4 OR THE NEW ORIGINAL
RESIDENT EVIL EVEN RESIDENT EVIL 2 IF YOU HAVE A PSX.
OR JUST GET THE PLAIN ORIGINAL RESIDENT EVIL ON YOUR PSX.
THIS GAME IS A LITTLE BELOW AVERAGE.AND IF YOU'RE LOOKING 4 A
GAME THAT WILL MAKE U CRAP YOUR PANTS JUST GET RE4.WAY MORE WORTH YOUR TIME.

I have all the Resident Evil games. The best is 2 and 3. If you like the Resident Evil Saga and you want them all then get this game. Its nothing like the newer games out there, but its ok. In this game "Cut Scenes" are acted, so they ..., and the voices are different from the 3rd game so they sort of ..., but the Game play is almost identical to the other 2. I only recamend this game to people who like the Resident Evil Saga and want the whole thing, or are interested in getting the whole story of the games.
Cool but not the "Cut"

It was very fun to play the game with the new camera angles but its not the true Directer's Cut it was meant to be (thus the low score). If you can get your hands on the Japanese game, do so.
