I fell in love with Animal Crossing on the Gamecube, so this was a natural buy for me when I had heard it was released. Honestly....It's one of the most faithful sequels that I've experienced in quite a while; all the gameplay made it over to the DS without much of a loss in graphic quality, and all the chores and tasks are still fun.
One of the things I liked most about the first game was going around and talking to all of my villages' friends. They're so cute, and the noises they make when speaking are adorable. Also, writing letters is fun, and I've written myself several "future" letters to myself, which I later opened and had a good chuckle over.
The only "bad" thing about this game might be that when I first got it, I played the heck out of it, and kind of got burned out, put it down, and didnt pick it up again for several months. But when I did, alot of my townsfolk had up and moved away, and the ones that had stayed were really upset that i hadn't visited in a while. Also, weeds had overun my town, and it took me forever to pull them all out.
The game runs in real time, which means that even when you arent playing, time passes in the game. Kind of a neat concept.
If you want a relaxing game of writing letters to people, talking to villagers, running errands, and building up and paying off your house, this is something you might enjoy.

Personally I cannot stand this game but it was not for me. I got it for my girlfriend and she played it every day for several hours a day. I have never seen her use anything as much as she plays this game. If you or someone you know is into cute games full of hugs and friendship then this game is for you. No one dies, only fireworks explode, and there are tons of 10 year old level jokes.

If I could define this game in one word it would be "Charming." It's one of those games that keeps surprising you everyday, and you are compelled to check it out every day even a year after you bought it. The content is safe for children help encourage them to be civil and polite. But there's enough there that will entertain adults especially since there are a lot of issues in there about growing up that anyone can relate with.
I highly recommend to play it with a friend, you'll be surprised with how different the experience is when you have someone to share it with.

I bought this product for my 9 year old daughter. This is a very well made video game. So filled with great activites and adventures. The graphics are very good and you can create many personages, give them their particular looks and name them!
My daughter plays this game almost everyday and she enjoys it very very much. This is a video game very suitable for the kids who like animals a lot, like my daughter. To be in a town full of animals and interact with them in a very joyful story filled with fun games and adventures is a thrill for any kid.
I haven't seen this video game at any store...so if you are looking for a great one for your kid..this is it!
I'd recommend this game for kids 5 and older.
Simple to play - highly addictive

Based on many of the other reviews here, I bought 2 copies of this game - one for me and one for my 21-year-old daughter. I wasn't sure she'd like it, and she would never have bought it for herself, but both of us love it. She plays it nearly every day. I try, but with my current schedule, I only get to play a couple times a week. I thought we might get bored with just walking around and collecting things, but every time I play, I just want to see if I can find one more thing for the museum or the catalog before I quit. I haven't managed to catch any bugs or avoid the bees or shoot down a balloon, but I've caught a few fish and dug up some fossils. I was frustrated in the beginning, since it took almost 2 weeks for a shovel to become available in the store, but now I can dig to my heart's content. Who knew you could have so much fun digging, picking up shells, shaking trees, and catching fish?!?!

I have three children who own this game for Nintendo DS. They play it CONSTANTLY! They can name their characters, create their clothes, visit friends, buy a house. My kids play together. Since they each own the game, they can link up and interact in each other's towns. They have so much fun playing this game. I would recommend it highly. (B.T.W. ages are 7,8 & 9).

If you are not good at action games then you will love this game! Even if you are good at action games you might like it. I have never done well at any type of action games and so when something like this comes out I am all over it, and it is so much FUN! It is something that I can actually play! I don't have to worry about getting stuck in a level or trying to kill things.
Some of the good things about this game:
You can have more than one profile. So if there is more than 1 of you that want to have your own game you can!
You can pick up items off the ground that you find and sell them. Then you are able to buy stuff from the store.
Also if you have money you can make your own clothes which is really fun. So you can always decide what you want to wear.
It is pretty easy to get money!
You can use a shovel and try to dig up fossils for money. You can also use a net and catch bugs for money, a sling to shoot stuff out of the sky, fishing rod to catch fish. Everything you get you can sell in the store.
If you catch and find things you want to keep then you can donate it to the museum and it will be on display. You do not get money for this but you at least have a good collection of bugs/fossils and everything else you find.
You also get to talk to all the town animals. You can send them mail at the post office and they will send you a letter back. You can also get gifts in your mailbox with letters. It is SO COOL to wake up in the morning and see you have mail in your game.
THE BEST THING EVER ABOUT THIS GAME: I have never experienced something like this, but the game is set in real time. If it is daylight where you are at then it is daylight there. If it is night, then it is night there. The seasons and everything changes with it. They have their own holidays on certain days, and every single day they have something new to share with you. Some of the people even have something new to say to you. It is really cool!
I would recommend this game to anyone. I do agree though that it is probably more for teens/adults. The animals can be rude and say some rude things. So it isn't really E for Everyone.
