Awesome Game

Well this is one of the few games where it's hard to find any problems. I loved Rollercoaster Tycoon and would recommend it to anybody, from a hardcore gamer to someone just starting to play games, this game is that much fun.

The major strong point in this game is the gameplay. It is VERY addictive and VERY fun. The graphics aren't exactly what I'd call industry leading but hey they aren't supposed to be.

People will undoubtably compare Rollercoaster Tycoon to Sim Theme Park. I my opinion there is no comparison RT wins all the way, even though STP has more features (3-D view, first person view, etc.). STP just can't capture the fun the way RT does.

So Rollercoaster Tycoon gets my recomendation for any age or skill level. Have fun!

Oh yeah and for a little twisted fun try removing a piece of rollercoaster track in the middle of the ride! hehe

One of the best games that I've ever played.

Roller Coaster Tycoon is one of those games that provides infinate replayability and has the intangible "fun" factor. You can design your own coasters and water rides, and place many other types of rides in. You can place hundreds of landscaping objects in to make your park pretty, and assign employees to keep your park running. The game has a huge amount of detail(some people prefer intense rides, some are just content sitting on the merry-go-round, for example) but you're never bogged down with micromanagment. Designing your own roller coaster is very hard (expect many flops when you first start out), but there are many pre-built coasters to drop into your park and thousands can be downloading from the internet! The park has a feeling of life that you rarely see in a computer game. Every person in your park is modeled in great detail and acts just like a real person would.

Wow! RollerCoaster Tycoon is definately the most ADDICTIVE game I've encountered in a looong time! RCT has excellent graphics and is very animated. Not only is every single guest (out of hundreds or even thousands!) walking around somewhere in your park for you to find, each individual has their own mood, thoughts, purchases...and entire BRAIN for you to probe. And the state of this brain reflects everything from their choice rides to the way they walk! Speaking of rides, they're totally spiffy! You get to choose where they go, what they do, admission price, design, and even colors! Actual amusement parks have used RCT to design REAL coasters now built around the WORLD! Just remember to test all of your custom-built coasters--the crash explosions may be intense and wild to watch, but they completely ruin that ride's reputation. Once I started playing RCT, I couldn't get off...that was 6 months ago, and I'm still an addict! It really puts your creativity and management skills to the test. This is a great choice for any fans of the SimGames, only TONS better. If you're still not convinced you just HAVE to have RCT, the website also features an online demo to play!

Very Addictive!

What do I have to say. Hmmm...Well first, my sister, who is 22, when she saw this game, she thougt it was pretty stupid. Then I asked her "What should I name the rides?" From that point to about 5 hours later she said that this was one of the most funnest games she has ever played, and she HATES video games! I know that that is her opinion, but I would have to go with it too. Rollar Coaster Tycoon is one of those games where you can get so frustrated over it and 5 minutes later you have forgotten what just happened. Your eyes are so glued to the computer that it would hurt just to pull them out and stop. Sure, the graphcs aren't the coolest in the world, but they are VERY, VERY detailed! This game has got practically anything a real amusement park has. You name it, that game has it!It's strategic placement makes it a very long game! I have had it for over a year and I haven't finished it. It's landscapes range from the biggest size to the smallest, and I do mean smallest, sizes. People have feelings, expressions, actions, comments that you would never expect they would have. I don't even want to get into the rides! But there is such a variety to do that you just have to try it! I am not persuading you or anything, but give it a try and I guarantee you, there will be something in that game that you would have never expected in it.

I was hooked after one game!

I'm not really one who likes to play a lot of computer games, but when my husband brought this one home I had to give it a try. It is a blast! You can start off with ready made rides, and build your own coasters around the park. As you advance, you are given bigger and better rides and options. I was surprised at its ability to make me love it - I was hooked after the first game. I'm going to get the expansion pack soon!

Amazing

All I can say about this game is wow. I've been interested in roller coasters since I was five. Then, I saw this game in a book order at school and knew I had to have it. I got the game and was addicted right away. I couldn't stop playing it. I would get home from school at 2:00 and wouldn't stop playing 'till 10:00. My parents often had to shut the computer off. Other games became boring after one or two weeks. I still can't stop playing this game.

The game features 14 different types of roller coasters including wooden, steel, steel mini, suspended, and stand-up. It features lots of stands including ice cream, balloons, and drinks. There's also thrill rides, gentle rides, mild rides, transport rides, and water rides. Just designing roller coasters is just half the fun. You also get to design the park almost any way you want.

The point of the game is to get a certain amount of people in your park in a certain amount of time.

I have nothing bad to say about this game except there's no place to experiment building roller coasters outside the parks with an unlimited amout of money. But, if you wanted to buy a game, this would be it.

I Cant stop playing this game

This game is unbelievable. How much more realistic can you get? Especially with the add-on pack of Corkscrew Follies! Its just like being in a real amusement park. From building rides, working with finance, marketing, advertising, hiring, firing, entertainment, park maintenance to even rides crashing and people dying if you arent real careful! This game is downright addictive! Highly recommended!

One Word: Addicting!

This great game from Hasbro Interactive can be summed up in one word: addictive. Build you own theme parks. Build roller coasters, gentler rides, scenery, paths, and make money from your guests. Hear the people scream and laugh on the roller coasters. Uh...see the vomit on the ground after the ride.... Watch people eat and drink everything from popcorn to cotton candy to fries to drinks. Watch people pull out umbrellas when it rains or look at a map when they are lost. This game pays attention to many of people's needs and feelings. Each guest in your park has their own easy to use interface. They "tired" bar may slowly go down as they walk around the park, or the "bathroom" bar may quickly go down after a trip to the toilets. This game offers many gentle rides such as Go Karts, Bumper Cars, Boat Rides, Observation Towers, Swinging Ships, and more. The roller coasters also have a simple interface. It is very easy to build your own roller coasters. But will people like it? Is it too intense? Not exciting? Too high or a nausea rating? This is an extremely addictive game with the excitement of building a park to the small details. Yet, I do not feel this game deserves the 5 stars I gave it. It deserves a higher rating.

AWESOME - for both kids and adults!

When I first saw this game, I was looking for something for my 8-year-old daughter. However, my love of amusement parks really drew me (age 43) to purchase this game. Whereas my daughter really enjoys playing, make no mistake - this is a well thought out game and appeals to the brightest minds.

The name RollerCoaster is deceiving because you are building an entire amusement park with all sorts of rides (many styles of coasters; wood, steel, mixed; ferris wheels, egg scrambler, lots of different style log flumes) and attractions. In addition, it is up to the designer to make sure people are fed, the facilities are clean, regulating the ticket prices, not to mention providing park benches and bathrooms. It's also your job to make sure there are maintenance men, mechanics for the rides, security guards and strolling entertainers.

You can start out with a simple park and as you build skills, create a sprawling park that would take weeks to cover in the real world. In addition to using the pre-made rides, you can custom build coasters, log flumes, rails, monorails, etc. Using the tutorial game when you first start using the software will really spark your desire to get started; but I urge you to just sit back and watch the tutorial - it is self-animated and is really beneficial-particularly for kids.

This is a great game and well worth the price for kids to grown adults who just love amusement parks!

A Computer Game with Old-Fashioned Fun

This is a fun game that lets you play your own amusement park, within settings ranging from easy to difficult. Most of the attractions are ready made (e.g., water rides, thrill, rides, slow rides, roller coasters, food and drink stands, etc.), but you can also build your own roller coaster-one track at a time.

The game encourages creativity and (especially) planning, a la "Sim City." Each scenario has its own challenges, such as uneven terrain, building from scratch or redesigning an old behemoth; and achieving goals in number of customers, satisfaction, and/or profit within a given time period. Hint: It pays to advertise.

It takes a while (maybe a month or more, except for experienced simulation gamers) to learn the construction and feedback icons, but these are helpful and fairly complete. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to build your own roller coaster; youngsters will probably need help. In fact, grownups will need patience as well: I once built a track that worked and where the tracks made a circuit (no mean feat in itself), but customers wouldn't try it because the nausea rating was too high. However, this challenge also increases the appropriate age range of those who will enjoy the game. Good documentation, but be patient-after repeated playing you'll play better, use more of the tools, and probably enjoy it more.
