The worst game ever!

All Star baseball 2001 is terrible. The game is incredibly easy. You can beat teams 30-0. There are no ground balls. Yor opponent can only score by hitting a homerun. Every other batter can hit one out if you use your power button. The game is bad old baseball games were simple but smart this game has no good features the players move goofy and the gameplay is awful i would never put any money into this and if u like this game u dont like baseball

When I first bought this game I was realy excited. I already own ASB 2000 and think it is a good game. But when I opened this one-terrible! The announcers get boring by 2 outs in the top of the first! The only thing I like about this piece of junk is that the game play is good, but not fantastic. In short, this game could not be worse if Acclaim even tried. ....

this game looks like all star baseball 1923

All-Star '99 is the best sports game ever, bar none. So imagine my surprise and horror when I first played this...this...WHAT IS THIS?? How can this be an All-Star Baseball game? The animation and control are right out of Carmageddon 64. Close your eyes and listen to the announcers and you'll be magically transported back to the days of the Intellivision Intellivoice. What happpened? I feel my grip on sanity slipping as people call this "the best baseball game ever" and claim the only flaw is an easy A.I. All I can say is, disregard the advice of every single freakin' person on this planet and buy the transcendent, euphoric, orgasmic, life-consuming masterpiece All-Star Baseball '99. Sure, you have older rosters, nonexistent ballparks, and no batting practice mode, but it's *lightyears* ahead of swill like this in playability.

OK gameplay... terribly easy competition

I would like to start out that even though I gave ASB 2001 only 2 stars, it is a decent game. It's the kind of game that you sit down and belt out a few hard earned homers and then quit. I didn't like how hard home runs are to hit in the home run derby. You hit the ball and it just goes.... no sounds, no commentary, only the repitiveness of the dull crowd. In Triple Play, you hit a home run and you know it. The crowd knows it also and you get the warm fuzzies all over. As for the competition, it was incredibly easy. I think i lost one time when i was the minnesota twins playing against the cooperstown legends. Nolan ryan smoked my batters, but they only won by a 7th inning Mr. October homer that barely cleared the left field fence. Besides that, it's an OK game to play against your friends for a bit. Right before a game of Perfect Dark!!!

Decent game

ASB2001 is probably the best baseball game for the N64, sad but true. This game is very easy to win (I had a record of 20-1 when I decided to stop playing the computer), I even won when I tried to lose. There are several glitches which ruin the game even further, including horrible AI. These glitches include not being able to tag out a runner when the ball clearly beats him, the inability to play the infield in and not being allowed to keep a PH for the pitcher in the game. The AI takes starters out in the 1st for giving up a run and doesn't pinch hit for the pitcher with the tying run on third. The batting practice feature is useless, especially since it's so easy to hit here. The new ballparks are also done poorly, as anything that's hit up against the wall in right at Pacific Bell Park is a considered a homerun. Several noticeable features, such as the glove and coke bottle are missing in SF, so is the train and the pole in Houston. The alltime team doesn't include Babe Ruth. If you're dying for a baseball game, get this one, but my suggestion is save your money.

Repackaged All Star Baseball 2000

First of all, I have to admit it is a great game if you have never owned a previous version of the game. I totally recommend it.

But now for you all that own the 2000 version: This version is almost a completely repackaged version of All Star Baseball 2000. Yes there are new graphics, yes there are 4 new stadiums (if you count a cornfield), yes there are new stats and rosters, yes there is batting practice and yes there are a few minor new features thrown in, but overall it is the SAME game.

The playing engine is identical to the previous version with no noticeable fixes to those many minor glitches like guys being able to run through players, players getting called out when they are obviously safe or players mindlessly holding the ball for a few seconds before trying to tag a sliding runner who makes it safely to base. I assumed that they would at least try to fix these issues before releasing a new game.

Also, being from Houston, I was real bummed that Enron field had two major omissions that make the park so unique: the flag pole in fair territory in center field and the 20 degree rising slope/hill behind the warning track deep in center field. It makes me wonder about the accuracy of all of the other parks that I have never been to.

If you own the previous version of the game, rent this one before you buy it to make sure you know what you are getting.

If you don't own the previous version, you'll love this game.

Ok game, terrible computer

When I popped this game in, i was prompted to choose between rookie, veteran, and all star. Cause I never played before and have experienced the powerful computer in its previous forms, I took Rookie. After 1 inning, I was up 5-0. At the end of the game it was 22-1. Jeez! Now I only play on All Star and i still shut the computer out on occasions. The graphics are great, and its fun on 2-player, but if you play solo, take all star or at least veteran!

Easiest game ever

This game is so easy i played as the detriot tigers and in the first inning i hit 19 home runs and i got 27 runs and i played the new york yankees. this game is so easy to hit home runs all you have to do it put power swing on and hit the ball on the top of the square.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Don't be fooled, this is All Star Baseball 2000 with an Legends team, a couple of new ballparks, and a "field of dreams" stadium. If you bought ASB 2000, just play that. The commentary is exactly the same as is the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, this game is fun, but I expected acclaim to give me a little more bang for my buck.
