OK gameplay... terribly easy competition

I would like to start out that even though I gave ASB 2001 only 2 stars, it is a decent game. It's the kind of game that you sit down and belt out a few hard earned homers and then quit. I didn't like how hard home runs are to hit in the home run derby. You hit the ball and it just goes.... no sounds, no commentary, only the repitiveness of the dull crowd. In Triple Play, you hit a home run and you know it. The crowd knows it also and you get the warm fuzzies all over. As for the competition, it was incredibly easy. I think i lost one time when i was the minnesota twins playing against the cooperstown legends. Nolan ryan smoked my batters, but they only won by a 7th inning Mr. October homer that barely cleared the left field fence. Besides that, it's an OK game to play against your friends for a bit. Right before a game of Perfect Dark!!!

Its A Grandslam

ASB 2001 Is definitly the best baseball game I have ever played. The grafics are great the players terrific and all three new stadiums are on the game.

Can someone PLEASE explain this to me?

All-Star '99 is the best sports game ever, bar none. So imagine my surprise and horror when I first played this...this...WHAT IS THIS?? How can this be an All-Star Baseball game? The animation and control are right out of Carmageddon 64. Close your eyes and listen to the announcers and you'll be magically transported back to the days of the Intellivision Intellivoice. What happpened? I feel my grip on sanity slipping as people call this "the best baseball game ever" and claim the only flaw is an easy A.I. All I can say is, disregard the advice of every single freakin' person on this planet and buy the transcendent, euphoric, orgasmic, life-consuming masterpiece All-Star Baseball '99. Sure, you have older rosters, nonexistent ballparks, and no batting practice mode, but it's *lightyears* ahead of swill like this in playability.

Great game if you dont have 2000

well, i bought this game cuz i was bored with mo other ones, my friend had 2000 so i said what the heck why not. but when i got it i was amazed, the graphics are somewhat improved and it has all the most recent rosters, the only problem i have is when u throw the ball to a base and the runner isnt there he slides and youre played doesnt bother to bend down and tag him and one other flaw is the ball is over the infielder or outfielders head and the ball magically goes into the players glove, hehe. i love the box that tells u where his hot spot is, it is kinda easy to win, but who cares, i have a 41 game winning streak.

so have fun with this game everyone

Great Game but has room for improvement

I've bought this game every year so I obviously believe it is the best baseball game out there. However, baseball purists like myself would still like to see some more realistic improvements. We all know that players do not jump up and down and pump their fists after hitting a home run. If they do this in real life they may get a fastball in their ear in the next inning. Also, I would like to see a centerfield camera view if I so choose. Finally, it is almost impossible to turn a double play because the infielders stop after catching the ball. When you are batting, the computer will turn a double on you so quick it will make your head spin. Also, it is almost impossible to steal a base straight up against the computer unless it makes a throwing error.

All-in-all however, this is still the best and most enjoyable baseball game out there, including PC and console games.

Great graphics OK game.

Before I had an N64, I was not able to play All-Star Baseball. Instead, I played the MLB series for PSX. The MLB series were an excepational set of games (even today, I still play MLB 98!). When I did get an N64, I finally got to play the ASB series and heres what I thought: Good no Great graphics. Uuuuummmmmmmm... hmmm what else? Bad play control, mediocore sound... thats about it. Overall it evens out to an about (maybe just a bit less) average baseball title. Being the only one for N64 this season though you may want to get it, but if you have a psx, skip this and get MLB 2001.

Cool game.

I don't buy many games so it has to be good fo me to get it. Something I can play for hours. This game is. It has all needed features. It's easy to creat players, trade, and all that stuff. After playing the game about three times, you'll know the controls by heart(at least I did). Good game. Good graphics. Good programmers. Good company. If you like baseball and want a game, get this. It even has homerun durby and an all-star game, and you can creat your own.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Don't be fooled, this is All Star Baseball 2000 with an Legends team, a couple of new ballparks, and a "field of dreams" stadium. If you bought ASB 2000, just play that. The commentary is exactly the same as is the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, this game is fun, but I expected acclaim to give me a little more bang for my buck.

Great Fun with My Kids!

This baseball game is life-like and truly entertaining. I play this game with my children-ages 7 to 21. I like the new sliding feature where you can control the direction and type of dlide. Also, the new batting practice feature is helpful. This game has provided many hours of laughter for my family. I may not be able to run as fast as my boys, but Dad can surely beat them in All-Star Baseball 2001.

cool
