I loved this game, and still do. It comes with so many units, and then you can still download more off the net. You can battle over the internet and everything. This came is the best. You HAVE to try it!

Forget StarCraft

I know this game is a little old, but it still is one of the most played games in my collection. With 2 expansion packs, free online gaming and new troops for free it is a hard game to beat. If you're looking for the best RPG go no further.

don't get it if you have windows 98 or 2000

This is an awesome game if you have windows 95. I got the game when it first came out and it was the best in my collection. But after i upgraded to windows 98 it didn't run anymore. :(

5 stars is not enough

This is *easily* my all time favorite multiplayer realtime strategy game; it's much much better than star craft and others like it. When you add the Core Contingency expansion pack, you have tons of units to use and can come up with an unlimited number of interesting stategies. Every time I play other humans on cavedog's Boneyards, I'm suprised by something new. I will never tire of this game.

(Oh yeah, works great on my windows 98 system; nevermind that post below. None of my friends have had trouble either. But you will want more than 32 MB of memory and a processor faster than a Pentium 233 MMX (but it's survivable if that's all you have).)

The coolest game ever

Total Annihilation was a pioneer in stradegy gaming. It was one of the first games to utilize a 3d terrain. I love this game so much. Both The Core Contingency and Battle Tactics are a must have.

Well-written with GREAT replayability

Even though this game is getting old, it still runs perfectlyon my Windows 98SE PC and my Windows 2000 PC. The graphics wereamazing for its day, and are still VERY good. The 3D terrain is VERY well done too. You can play at higher resolutions (I usually use 1280x1024) to see more of the map; I wish more games had this feature! There are TONS of free units and maps available on the web (see http://tauniverse.com/upstartdesigngroup and click on the "TAUIP" button for more units), making this the most replayable game I've ever owned. Even the AI has been extended by gamers! It's amazing how much effort regular gamers are still putting into this game (new maps, new units, new AIs, new utilities, etc.)! It's a MUST-HAVE! END

Blows me anaway, every time I play it!

Although it is obvious that this game was developed to cash in on the Command & Conquer-hype, this is one of the best titels the RTS-genre has ever produced!

The single-player missions are not all to interresting, but multiplayer and skirmisch are even more awesome than on C&C I and Red Alert. With an enorumous arsenal of units and a great selection of multiplayer and skirmisch maps this is one of the most re-playable games in history. And even more units ans maps can be downloaded for free on the Cavedog site.

I only found it a bit of a pity that both sides basically have the same units, only with other names and appearances. The game would have been even better than it already is if it would have had a more subtile balance between the two opposing sides' units.

For the rest: A great game, one of the best RTS games around, it even blows away Starcraft, and manages to give Red alert and Command & Conquer some serious competition.

Command and Conquer it isn't

This game was made in the command and conquer style. Unfortunately it is overly simplistic. All of the maps are the same size so it is quite easy to determine where your enemy base is located(usually exactly opposite you). The graphics are cool and the gameplay is easy but there is no real plot and the map size really bring it down. The gradations on the map are great though.

Be-all, end-all

I adore TA. So I'm going to try to focus on the bad points tobe objective, but I doubt I'll be able to. First, the graphics aredated. The game came out 5 years ago, and so that's to be expected. However, since it's a top-down strat game, it's 2-D anyway, and the visuals, while not crisp per se, are good. Next, some of the maps are a little annoying, or predictable, or redundant. However, since Cavedog released Battle Tactics and Core Contingency, and there are more available on the web, there are certainly enough to make any fan happy. Third, I suppose people would ask why they should buy such an outdated game, especially when I've said you have to buy the add-ons to make the experience complete. The Commander pack(the base game, plus the two add-ons, plus a huge strat guide, for the minimal price and you get literally hours of enjoyment! And all you have to do is find one other TA addict and you've got many times that much fun in multiplayer, since that's where the game really shines. The game is old enough that most any system can handle it with ease, and with Cavedog's addition of extra units and many user-created maps and units available on the web, the game is a no-brainer. Go! Scrape the change out of your couch and snap up the game!

Good Game

Man this game is awesome. I've had it for two years so far. The campaigns are good, but skirmish mode is simply the best. I love blowing everything away with my long range cannons, raising a massive air force, and building huge navies. The commander is ultra cool with his D-Gun, which blows away anything in its path. The only complaint is that the AI is really bad in the naval department. It doesn't build mass hordes of ships like it does land units. Skirmish mode is really one of the best in any RTS though. For the low price you really can't go wrong buying this classic. Oh and the music. The music is the best score I have ever heard from any computer game. And believe me I've played many games. It's a great orchestra set that really draws you in. Man I'd pay just so I could play the music in my CD player.
