Great game!

I too am sick of all the crybabies complaing about the game! If you have Star wars already, all this is, is a repackaging of the game along with all the digital downloads!(Only buy if you want to get the special vehicle the AT-RT!(noobs beware peeps will try to buy these off you cheap, only take a min of 50mil.Yes there is nothing new to the game with this release, like another planet or area to explore,so only pick up for the special or just to have the whole thing on one disc! the game is great and yes they change it to try and make it more player friendly, this can be frustrating but people gotta learn to adapt and deal with it,stop whining! It has a ground play element, space play, you can own property, you can play player vs. player or player vs. environment(NPC) . the choice is yours! If your a new player the cost is worth it for 1 month comes with the price! Good luck and have fun! And May the force be with you!!!

Amazing Game

Ok first off I am sick and tired of people writting bad reviews of this game. The people that give it 1 star are people from the old game, "HEY Pre-NGE Gamers, GET A LIFE! Quit trashing a great game." I played the old version and this version even after NGE it was still a great MMORPG. SWG is an amazing game and SOE is doing great work to make it better. And in the coming months more advancements will be made and more ep's will start appearing, this game is not dead, there are thousands of people I run into on the game. People say that when NGE hit only around 15-20 people were on, BS! I see hundreds if not thousands daily. Sure maybe days after NGE it was empty but now its packed and most servers are full with many interesting players.

So to all that are thinking about buying this game, BUY IT! You wont regret it. Leveling can be a pain but what MMORPG dosn't have tedious leveling up. I can tell you once you get into the high levels the game gets even better. Take from me, a vetern gamer who has played both sides.

Chapter 7: Collections

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I play Star Wars: Galaxies in its current state and love it. Collections is just plain awesome. They actually made a quest system that causes you to kill all kinds of high level creatures for a loot item that you can collect. If you get them all, then you get a prize. Also, three high level group quests have been added to the game. They brought back the village Aurillia on Dathomir, and they really paid attention to giving us high levels something to do other than pvp all the time. Imperials are grouping with Rebels amazing. I play on a server called Kauri, and you know what that server is dying. So, if you make a new character, look at starting he/ she on Kauri. If you want, I will help you get situated. If you are starting a new character, don't forget to go through the tutorial. You can level up to 10, and get enough starship experience to advance to the next level in pilot training once your in the actual game itself. Also, I am a member of the guild Knights of Kauri, so if you become a Rebel look me up under Tohee. I will help you get into the guild. Thank you, Steven

SWG - Paradise in Limbo

I bought this game when it originally came out. I played off and on for the better part of 2 months before the real world took my attention. I missed the whole CU thing.

When I came back was shortly after the NGE upgrade. I have been playing ever since. SWG was my first MMO. I loved it and still do. I have many, many friends on the server I play on (Valcyn).

Unfortunately, SWG has lost it's way. As desperate as the Developers and LucasArts are to see it be succesful, many more MMO's have arrived since and people have moved on. I myself now split time between SWG and LOTRO. If I didn't have so many friends on my SWG server, I'd probably have left my now.

I hope, that SWG finds new ways to return to it's former glory, but I fear that soon the lights will go off and we'll all be in the dark.

Very Fun...Inspite of it All

First off, this is a very fun game and I would recommend it to any Star Wars Fan. However, the game is buggy and has a very incomplete feel to it(even for an mmorpg). The Game has one especially big weakness in that there is little in the game for mid level players, therefore you will find your game experience get very boring about lvl 50 or so(At least for combat players). However, I think this will eventually ease as more quests are added to the Legacy Quest Arc(Starter Quests), right now these quests only take you to ~lvl 45, it is *speculated* by many that these quests will eventually take your character from lvl 1 to 90 in a huge quest arc...but, I guess we will see...
So, Although the game is lacking in many areas it is still quite fun, and since the Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Online Adventures comes with a free 30 day trial I'd encourage you to at least try it, or if you don't want to front $29, buy the Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit for $14 (also comes with 30 day trial) or the *Free* 10 day trial on Star Wars Galaxies Web Site (This will take an extremely large amount of time and I would recomend this for broadband users *only*).

SWG is still a great game!

I have been playing SWG since beta and though there have been a lot of changes, it is still a great game to play. I surf the forums alot. I can tell you that most the people who have left the game are the power players who had their power taken from them and they couldn't handle it. Also the crafters that dominated the market.
Now not all the changes were good. If you played from launch, you miss the complexity the game had. And there were a few let downs like spending 6 months to a year developing your Jedi, only to have them change it so anyone can start as a Jedi, instead of earning it. There are bugs, but then look at how massive this game is. You are going to have some problems.
But let me tell you I have played this game since beta and will play until they shut the game down.

AWSOME!!

First off im not a kid...Second, dont listen to anyone that says this game is crap cuz its THE BEST MMO out there. I tell you I never get bored. EVER. games like guild wars are fun and all but it only has a max lvl of 20 and the campaignes are short. Once you get everything you want theres no more point but to start all over with another character and do it all over again. Now i wasnt around before NGE of this game but Galaxies...its just great. I was on before the Expertise system came out though. and i gotta tell you even then it was fun. there is ALWAYS something to do. theres so many repeatable missions that are great fun. for example, fighting the droid army, killing HK (from KOTOR), fighting the mighty Sher Kar (giant scorpian boss that is absolutely HUGE and sometimes he drops an Old Republic Lightsaber hilt that is great). Theres lvl 500! Dark Jedi Sentinals on Yavin that you can fight how cool is that. The max lvl on here is 90 btw. There player events are great like the Battle of Restuss. Come on when that started I think I played that entire day, it started last year and I think its still going on. It was a large scale PvP event in a city and they blew it up while we were fighting. You can also get bounties on your head from killing other players. And dont tell me Jedi are weak, with the right expertise build you can kill almost anyone. Example I had a 2mil bounty on my Jedi and I had 2 lvl 90 Bounty Hunters attack me and i killed them both. Also killed a Commando, and 2 Bounty Hunters all lvl 90 at the Theed spaceport. was killed when 5 more came in though(cant kill em all after all). You can own your own homes, Your inventories are gigantic. you can fight in space. The things to do on this game are almost endless. It's just the funnest game out there. Dont let people tell you it stinks. at least try the 10 day trial. They made it to where you can do anything on the trial that you can with a real account whereas before you could only stay at the tutorial. Trust me, this game is worth every penny. WoW, Matrix, CoH and CoV and Guild Wars combined dont equal this game.

Star Wars Galaxies the WoW killer

I have both Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft, and despite what detractors that started with the weird "role playing" version of the game, Star Wars Galaxies delivers a rich and varied game world. I love the part that allows me to just hop in a Tie Fighter and do space combat missions. All that ground grinding for my dark Jedi can sometimes get boring! So it's like you get two games for one price, can alternate between them, and very rarely get bored with it all. WoW on the other hand, it's just a very simplistic kill stuff game where you struggle through predefined Zones trying to find quests. SWG makes it easy with waypoints and guiding arrows to get you to your destinations. GPS for a gameworld if you will and I love it since I'm always getting lost in a game world. The developers are also going to be introducing some exciting new expansions soon. A new space combat expansion that allows capital ship combat, and even allows guilds (or very in-game rich individuals) to have their very own capital ship, board-able space stations, capital ship combat, and possibly the ability to command an entire capital ship armada! Guild combat just got a whole lot more interesting :D Another expansion introduces better droids, both combat and utility droids. If they give the ability for players to manufacture or buy HK-47 series assassin droids, that you could have wise-cracking conversations with, I'd love this game forever. As it is I'm already hopelessly addicted.

I thought this needed to be posted: (credit goes to Cody Dean)
"While it is true that SOE, beholden to intense scrutiny and interference from LucasArts, has made several mistakes in managing the changes to the game, Star Wars Galaxies is getting better with each new Chapter and update added to the game. As a 23-year veteran of software development -- and 20 years of playing computer games of every stripe -- I marvel at the complexity of massively-multiplayer online games, especially a game with as much internal flexibility and player-control of the environment. It is true, SWG isn't perfect, no software is. But is is a game that can be enjoyed.

SWG is NOT horrible, and Mr Cooper's comments are laced with a level of bitterness that detracts from the value of his review. His views do not reflect those of the players still playing the game after more than three years, myself included.

If you've not played SWG before, there is no reason why, if you enjoy Star Wars and MMOGs, that you shouldn't at least give it a try. With purchase of the game comes 30 days of paid subscription, and that can be enough time for many people to decide whether to continue. How many games have you bought, tried, and stopped playing? How many more have you heard "horrible" things about, tried it yourself, and then realized the reviewer was mistaken?"

Great for a newbie, not much to offer a veteran.

This is a great game if you are interested in wasting some time in an MMO and like star wars. It's not that great for a veteran of the game who wants new content all the time. This particular version is a great buy because you get all 3 expansions at once.
