actually worked

This game actually worked on my computer when i tried it i have to say, and ive been saying for many a year (dont i sound old!) that someone should make a school tycoon game. This one however - whilst it may be the first one at least i know of to do it is - as you can see - riddled with bugs, for me it was mostly whenever a building began to smoke from not being fixed it would crahs the game. Apart from this the gameplay was farely average, but didnt ever really get past the simple 'build this, then build this and you can build this'. So it got boring really quickly. Overall only 2 start, and i wouldnt recomend it - although at least i can actually say it worked which seems to be more than the others here!

what a great game

Good concept, boring game play. Perhaps this game would be fun for a younger/less experienced Tycoon/Sim player, but if have played better games (The Sims, Zoo Tycoon, even Tropico), then you will be thoroughly disappointed. You cannot interact with the students and/or faculty. You basically place the buildings, spend money, and that's it. Definitely not too interesting and limited game options.

Worth the money

School tycoon is fun. I've been playing it for 2 months and I am not bored of it yet. School Tycoon has it's ups and downs.

The ups:

-Make landscapes!

-Choose classrooms like english, math, social studies, library, etc.

-Pick teachers and other staff wisely, making sure they are fun and have high ability and they can't be too strict.

-Create students and decide their personalities.

-While you wait for a game to load, you get hints and tips on how to play.

The downs:

-Every 10-20 minutes your school faces natural disasters like "fires" and "hurricanes".

-The tutorial helps only slightly.

-School pathways get dirty so quickly, you need lots of janiters.

School Tycoon Computer Game is Fun and Teaches

I bought this Tycoon game for my 9-year-old granddaughter for those times when she comes to visit us. She is a very intelligent young lady and learns quickly. Her older sister has the Mall Tycoon game, and she loves it as well as the 9-year-old. However, the younger one doesn't get to play it very much, so I downloaded the product, and I sat her down at the computer with the instruction book and told her I would like her to try it by herself, but I would be nearby if she needed help.

She ran with it, and she was so excited about selling toilets in the building to make money. She was so smart, she even managed to sell a burning building. She was given a budget to build the school, equip the classrooms, hire teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers, etc., and the goal is to stay within the budget. She made out very well each time she played it, and I found out how educational it was. It teaches math, communication skills, creative skills, scheduling of meals, hiring and firing employees, buying books, appeasing students, etc. The whole time she played it, not only was she learning, but she was having fun.

I highly recommend this game to anyone. I even had fun playing it after she went home, but I don't think I did as well as she did.

Not the best Tycoon game.

Its fun making the school and making people like you want but they have attitude problems. They look boppy and act boppy. Their always jumping on tables, blowing bubbles, and picking on other kids. It was a great idea, but the game wasn`t so great. I recommend Zoo Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon.

One of the worst games of all time

School Tycoon is possibly the worst game ever made and certainly the worst Tycoon game ever made. I have been an avid gamer all my life and am working on a "100 Worst Games" list so I can mail it to Entertainment Weekly, who can publish it for their next issue. Currently, School Tycoon ranks #35.

Alot of people say Tabloid Tycoon is the worst of the Tycoon games. Well that's bullshizzle, because while the graphics on that game were unbelievably bad, you could only edit nouns in other peoples' stories for your newspaper, and all you really do is hire staff, write stories, assign people to them, and publish your newspaper, there was one good thing about TT that earned it a free pass off of my list--the catchy music. It's actually relatively good news compared to School Tycoon.

This time, there is a purpose for running a school that is explained in a poorly animated opening video. When you start a new game, which takes about 5 minutes to load, the school is already built for you. It is already named, already determined what kind of school it will be, and is actually an outdoor school, which means that it will ALWAYS be difficult for junior high students, causing them to leave. Your school is already open, and people are itching to get in even when you haven't built anything. You can build things, but it is absolutely impossible to get funding for them; whenever you peep into classrooms, the teacher has written a message on the blackboard saying that there are none of the necessary things that would be available by having funding. Nor can you even determine what they are supposed to be learning.

My general procedure for my Bottom 100 list is: the game can either be awful big-time--without a woodshaving of redeeming value--or find itself a review at Something's Awful (somethingsawful.com). School Tycoon is such a game. Do I recommend it? Not only you enjoy playing "Elf Bowling 1 & 2."

A totally waste of time and not in a fun way

I bought this game and got it to work pretty bug free on my computer. For the few of you who can't get yours to work, don't bother because it was by far the simplest childish tycoon game I have ever played. This game isn't meant for anyone over the age of 10 so if your looking for a challange then just skip it. The most you can do with the game is build buildings and arrange them and that gets old after about 20mins. Don't buy this game its a waste and if I could get my money back I would.

On the flip side, if you're buying this for a child then go for it. If you have a semi-new computer then you should have any problems running it. I would, however, recommend something more educational for a child. This is good family fun but you don't learn much.

Lots of Fun!

This game is a lot of fun. It's especially fun for kids who complain about school. You do the basics like hiring teachers and staff and decorate your campus. The school isn't like many would think it would be; it's an outdoor school, hence 'campus'. However, you barely spare it a thought once you get into it.

One thing that isn't so great is the simplicity of the scenarios. The first time I played, the first scenario only took me 1.5 minutes. There is a freeform game option, though. Also, it can get rather slow and loading times are a little on the long side. Decorating and deleting items can be VERY tedious.

Overall, School Tycoon does have its issues. But you get over them once you start playing. It's a great game for young and old alike. I reccomend it, especially to younger kids. :)

Great, Fun Game!

I got this game with some of my Christmas money ($10). I loved the game. I was scared at first because I thought it would not work on my computer. It works fine. The game is kind of slow and it freezes once in a while. That may be from my computer. I don't have the best computer for this game.

You make your school and that is really fun. I played this for 2 hours the first day I got it. I would have played longer if mom haven't made lucnh. Well, at first you have all little classrooms and that does not teach very many kids. I think it holds 10 kids at once. Well, after you get so many classrooms you then unlock bigger claasrooms. When, you attract so many students the sidwalks get very messy. The kids intrest in the school start going down. In each kids profile thingy it says there comments. They start saying: Gross... the sidewalks are filthy and Gross! That means you have to hire cleaning people. You have to buy them a place where they can keep there stuff. That cost more also. I am going to stop blabbing now and going to go watch the ball drop on the TV. Happy New Year! I hope you enjoy this game!
