Very Nice Game

First of all, even though I am only ten years old, I still know a lot about computer gaming. This game [Need For Speed: High Stakes] is very nice in 3 major ways. Its graphics are super, though ruined by not enough memory, etc. The game is very realistic, especially with the added damage when you crash. Also, the game includes many cheats, to get new cars and things like that. Overall, this is a very sophisticated racing game. JWS

Amazing PC Game!

My friend and I played this years ago. It is the most fun I have ever had on the PC. The multiplayer rocks, and the graphics were great for back then.

It's funny that I would review this now, because my computer won't even run a game this old. But, if you have an older PC, and it runs games, you need this.

Definitely Not The Best I've Played...

From the beginning, this game starts off difficult. The cars in this game have particularly weird handling, the feeling just isn't right, especially if you play the previous Need For Speed games, on either computer or game consoles. I liked the graphic detail of the game. It was smooth and everything just flowed, no matter the high settings I set game options to have. Another feature about this game that I like was the selection of cars to race. However, I really would have liked to see some commuter cars that we normally see out there, to have cars that games like Grand Turismo has. I believe that would be nice. And also to have the ability to supped up the cars too. Those are what the things that have been missing in the Need For Speed series that I would definitely like to see in the future.

Awesome game

This game is awesome. For those people that think its like a boat racing game, well, I have something to say about that. You say it's a boat racing game because you suck at playing the game, you just don't know how to play it. You can't just play a game once and expect it to be just the way you want it. If you're so picky, then why don't you just make your own game, and if you do make your own game and you try really hard at making it and you think it's the best game ever. I bet people will review it and say it sucks.

Worst graphics I have seen in 5 years... Terrible game.

I don't mind if the graphics aren't completely state of the art, but this was ridiculous. Not only were the graphics terrible, but the rendering engine they used was pathetically slow and the effects were horrible. I ran this game on a P3-733Mhz with a DDR GeFORCE256 video card and could not enjoy the game at any decent resolution because of the huge frame hits you would receive depending upon where in the track you were. Terrible. Even at high resolutions the cars and tracks looked pixellated and cartoonish. I-76, which is many years older than this game has graphics which kill NS4. I am unbelievably dissapointed.

After my friend let me play the game at his house it was very, very fun. It's very cool how your car gets damaged, but you should be able to choose a "no damage" option. The grapics are great, but the Lamborghini Diablo SV looks like a monster truck, cause of the LARGE wheels(that's the weird part). The cars look more realistic in NFS 3. NFS 4 is fun to play because of the:skid marks, dirt smoke, the look of the damaged cars, and the variety of cars. The cop mode is also very enjoyable. For high speed action, this game is for all you car lovers.

As of now, the Best Racing Game Available!

As of now, this game, in my opinion, is the best racing game out.

NFS has had the best racing car simulaters out. The 4th addition to this amazing series is probably the best. It has a wide variety of companies and their vehicles such as, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, and even MacLaren. The tracks are far beyond any other, with great scenery and sound effects. You can race in countries like USA, Canada, Germany, France, and the UK.

The Hot Pursuit option is very good with the lighting effects and the different looking cop cars. Each country has their exact looking kind of police vehicle and the way their sirens sound.

Also the new option in this game is the High Stakes option which allows you to beef up your own cars then play against other people with them. If you win you get to keep your opponent's car. If you lose, well, I'm sure you can guess what happens.

I had the game years ago but the steering was a bit delayed. I just purchased a new system with Windows XP and a high speed graphics card and now the game works GREAT! I admit the engine sound could be a bit better, but hey for the 4 generation game of NFS what's to expect. You can't compare this game to others, just look at it for what it has in it's own options. Hot Pursuit, Career Mode, Knock Out, Single Player. The best one of all: Career Mode. The repair is very cool, it's fun to beat on the cars and trash the motor and hear it backfire, trash the body and suspention, then go back to the repair shop and watch the car reform (at the price of your winnings). Over all for the 4 level of NFS I give the game 2 thumbs up. Great job NFS.
