Fun game, but could have been better

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 14 / 16

I have now played all 3 of the Nancy Drew mystery games (that are available as I type this). This one, "Secrets Can Kill", was my least favorite. In all fairness, this was the first Nancy Drew game they made, and it's understandable that the graphics aren't as good as in the later two. This also may explain why the game is shorter; I'm guessing they realized that the game would be better if it took longer, so the other two games ("Stay Tuned For Danger" and "Message In a Haunted Mansion") have more playing time. On the other hand, because it is shorter, it's also easier, so this might be better for slightly younger girls than the other two. Also, this game requires 2 CDs--you have to switch back and forth. This was annoying at first, but soon became bearable. But really, this game was a lot of fun. Even with the less-than-stellar graphics, there were still a lot of word puzzles and things to explore. This game and "Message" both have slide puzzles, though, which I can't stand. (Okay, I'm just no good at them, I'll admit it!) Anyway, if you're interested in trying a Nancy Drew game, I highly recommend it, but I suggest you try one of the other ones first.

The best Christmas present my daughter received....

After all the presents were unwrapped, this was the one that really interested by 12 year old daughter. We worked on it together, a few hours each day for about a week, until we solved the mystery. I think I enjoyed it as much as she did. It was so much fun to see her so involved, trying to logically figure out this mystery, using all hering reasoning skills. I've already ordered the other Nancy Drew software for her birthday. It's hard to find an item that you and your child both find enjoyable and challenging. It was fun to see her so "into" this game.

Secret's Can Kill--and so can these brain teasers

Well, this game was great at first. I found the clues on the bulletin boards and talked to the suspects. But there were many places that were just too hard. I still haven't reached the end of the mystery. I couldn't figure out how to get into the pharmacy. It took me weeks to figure out how to get into the teachers lounge. I think Hal Tanaka did it, but it's hard to be sure. She accused him, and he denied it. No one else will let me talk to them anymore and I have the tape from Jake's locker, but I'm stuck. So, this may be for kids, but it was a little too hard for someone my age, and even for my dad. I'm not saying that you should make it so easy that it's unbearable, but just try to make it less stressful. Hey, it's a great game! I loved the mystery of everything--great music too! I just think it's too hard to get to the bottom of the mystery.

I really enjoyed this game.It was difficult, but I would not give up.The only thing that I did not enjoy was that the game had two Cd's that you had to keep switching back and forth. The characters in the game are all very mysterious and they all have a secret to hide. All in all this game was very enjoyable except that I think they could have put the game on one CD.I am very glad I bought this game.

It was great!!!

Well,my freind has the 2nd CD-rom and i think it was great but this one is tops all other CDs. This game stimulates the mind while you think you're having fun and not really knowing that you are learning to de-code and problem solve a life skill. Now here's the fun stuff,it has eerie music to keep you on your toes ,suspects ,the innocent ones, the crimes they commited but aren't in your own case. Please i would rate this a ten but there isn't enough stars so boo hoo and I think that someone really likes snooping would get they're joy out of this because there is more than just snooping there is people who try to strangle you and {Game Tip} dont ask one to many questions they could get on to you so keep it not too wordy.....and look for clues in tasks you may be asked and when your magnifying glass lights up you can click on something so just scan over every tid bit of everything ,and this is more than you need to hear!! I loved it ,I recommend it 100%, and that you dont need to play the games in order like 1-4 because they just might only use names from other games not their crimes .I loved it it is the best i am out of words i have said it all. I would encourage you to write a reveiw tell your own feelings about this game.

2 discs that had to be changed eoo often

This was a good game. I am an older gamer. I played at the most novice level and I still found it challenging. It really requires you to think and use your imagination. I did not like having to switch the cds so often. I played other games which had a lot more in them and were longer and only required one cd. And I thought the 2D graphics against the 3D backgroung made it look really cute and light. Some others may not like it but it appealed to me.

Secrets can kill is one of the best games ever. It is so interesting. I kept on finding new things, and it never ever got boring. The makers at her interative did an awesome job. My mom, my friend Tamara, and I got hooked on this wonderful game. I have to admit, It was challenging, but that is why it is so great. It makes you thing really hard unlike those make-over games that rot your brain. It made me feel like Nancy Drew. This is the best game ever, and I encourage, everybody of all ages to play this wonderful game.

Wonderful game, clear and precise. Exciting plot and theme music, but since there are two CD's you have A LOT of switching to do! Library in high school is especially exciting and mysterious, accentuated by the music for that particular area. The cons are that you have have to be able to take plenty of notes, because there are like a dozen hidden messages in the high school on the bulletin boards ( that's right, there are more than one so make sure to look at all of them!), and of course there is a lot of switching Cd's to do. Definetly one of my fave Nancy Drew games....I certainly couldn't have beat this game without SECOND CHANCE, a fab feature of Nancy Drew games that lets you go back to a safe point in the game before you made a fatal mistake, like setting Maxine's Diner on fire by accident because you tampered with the gas pipes, which is what I did at first. I also recommend the other 6 Nancy Drew games. Full of twists, puzzles, message decoding, and detective work, this is the game for those who just can't resist a challenge ( and is a fan of the famous sleuth).Intriguing game, perfect for those with an inquisitive mind, young or old. ....

I just bought this for my daughters age 10 and 13. They are both so excited about playing it. It is a wonderful fun creative game. I can't believe that they are solving some of your clues with such little information. What great software. Fabulous game.

this game was probably the best game i have ever played! i loved how you got to collect clues, solve puzzles, and explore buildings.....that was my favorite part! if you love nancy drew, then you're missing out if you don't have this game. i think it was so cool. here are some hints: first of all, explore every inch of every room you're in. if you miss one small little thing, it could confuse you forever later in the game! and second of all.....well, just have fun! also, there's a site you can go to if you're stuck and you can get some AMAZING hints but not solutions to the game or anything. it was on nancydrew.com, but the site doesn't have that part anymore. but you can still go to the her interactive site and they have a site like that too. i think it's herinteractive.com, but i'm not sure. hope this helps.....enjoy the game! =)
