I played the modification of Half Life, Counterstrike, and was amazed at the realism. I played it at my friends house and only thought of Half Life as a barrier between me and counter-strike, I played counterstrike for a couple nights, and sucked it up because I hadnt even tried Half-Life, so I thought Id just use Half Life as a trainer for Counterstrike, again not expecting much. I was sucked into the story line by the second chapter. My only complaint with the game is that it didnt rely much on me helping out the other scientists in sticky situations, but Half Life 2 is coming out and Im sure that that will make up for the badstuff. The game took me almost 30 hours of game play to beat on normal settings, and except for like 2 parts in it that i got frustrated, they were the most intense 29 hours of my life. (The two parts that werent fun were in the trams, and killing the nihilith or whatever its called. Take my advice and buy this game right now, its only 17 dollars, id gladly pay twice that for just the single player, buy it for both counterstrike and the singleplayer though.

This game is simply stupendous, even with 4+ years on the market, simply because of its online content. The multiplayer modifications available for free download (Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, etc.) are well worth the meager $15 for the actual game. And if you do not want to download such modifications, Team Fortress Classic is great in itself. Graphics vary more widely than any game I've seen, completely based on your system's capabilities (obviously). Sound is very nice as well. And who doesn't love a First Person Shooter? A classic, as many before have stated. If you don't own it, you've been missing out for years.

I own all the half life games and let me tell you they are the best series ever. The graphics are amazing and it is fairly easy. Just but it!!! And, if you have younger children in the house who want to play it. You can turn off the gore.

Mainly, I thought this game rocked. It had supreme graphics, storyline (though the end was kind of wack), the weapons were decent and not to powerful, you had to deal with all kinds of environments, and it had actual difficulties other than fighting! You have to be good at it in order to figure out how to throw the crate just right to be able to jump on top of it and get into the ventilation holes... Of course, if you aren't good at FPSs I don't advise it. ... For it's time, this game rocked and deserved the full five stars. ...
This game may be old, but it's still fun. Be warned that it is outdated, though, so it's not going to be the best of graphics, etc. But it IS very fun

my friend told me that this game is the best game ever, so i bought it. when i played it, the combined force of the enemy ai, grafix, plotline, realistic-ness, and all the other crazy stuff that makes half-life what it is hit me like a steel crowbar upside the head.
plus, you gotta get the expansions. team fortress and counter-strike are more than fun, and opposing force and blue shift tell other sides of the story. GeT ThIs GaMe or you will never know the joy of playing it.

What can I say about this game? It was name PC Gamer's game of the year! The game is simply great! At first glance, it seems like your typical first person shooter, but once you start getting into the game, everything changes. It turns into a complete horror game. It's one of those games that if you play at night, will make you want to turn all the lights in the house on. The game gives you huge suprises, like little alien creatures jumping out at you from no where. Or dark corridors with things waiting to kill you on the other side. This game is great, and is perfect for anyones collection!

This games is the best game I have ever played in my life. it combines a quality first person shooter, with the best story line and cleverness I've ever seen. It has great AI and exelent graphics. Buy it now if you have any sense.

Half-life is a great first person shooter that can be played against other gamers all over the world. The best thing about the game is the modifications and maps that you can download to change the game, you can never get bored of it because there is always a new map to try or a new modification to install and try.

This is the game that revolutionized the FPS genre. Avoiding the old shoot-and-find-key gameplay and sporting new options for creating your own mod, this game gave hungry and tired FPS fans like me a fresh breath on the genre. The only complaint is the original multiplay, but with mods like Team Fortress Classic, Firearms, and Counter-Strike, you have the only all-around outstanding FPS game on the PC market.
