This game is everything you need perfect for anyone at any age. It has very nice graphics, sound, details, speed... lets just say it has everything. I can understand why they call this the game of the year cause WOW! it is nice. The levels are very fun to play, it has a good story to it I would advice you to buy this game if you have the money trust me its worth it! (action game)

That's the only word I can come up with Half-Life, that's why I prefer playing this over Duke, Quake and many others. Saving planet Earth is not really your main priority, instead saving your own skin from the aliens, the Marines and the Assasins. Sometimes you have to deal with those scared scientists and trigger happy Barney to get your tasks fulfilled. Gordon Freeman is a mild mannered research scientist transformed into a cold killing machine because of being in a wrong place at a wrong time.

Half-Life will not disappoint fans of first person shooters

Half-Life is a first person shooter in the same vein as Doom and Quake. What sets Half-Life apart though, is the more detailed backrounds and more realistic gameplay. In Quake, you blast everything to pieces and plow your way through the levels. In Half-Life, you pretty much do the same thing except the backrounds and characters are more interactive...it almost seems like it's part role playing game. The graphics rival those seen on Quake and Unreal, and the story has more back-bone also. Overall, Half-Life provides more of a realistic environment to explore (and destroy) than most other games of it's kind. If you can't get enough of first person shooters, Half-Life is a great choice for some more action.

Using previous generation Quake engine, this game actually surpasses all other 3D action game in online poularity, and with good reasons. The weapons, sounds, tactics all feel much mre real than other games. And this game requires skills and tactics. Many many people got hooked on this game and cut classes, stay up all night etc. Game centers are PACKED with people paying $2-4/hour to play this game. So AVOID this game at all cost if you dont want your life ruined.

The best first-person shooter ever. 'Nuff said

I won't spend a great deal of time telling you why you should play this game, since you probably already have.

Basically single player play is immersive and suspenseful. The story unfolds before you, and you learn more at every turn. Survival is your top priority, so the entire game is like a giant thrill ride. The AI in this game is incredible. The very idea that you could use security guards and scientists in this game to help you was amazing at the time, and still is.

The baddies in this game are literally scary at times, especially the annoying headcrabs. The missions require a great degree of thought, and more often rely on puzzles than numerous aliens and army guys (which have been dispatched to kill you).

The multiplayer experience is another thing. Fun as hell, and perhaps the greatest deathmatching available. The violence should be enough to satisfy the most insane gamer, as gibe fly everywhere with a direct rocket hit.

Although the graphics are a bit dated, the sheer fun overwhelms everything else.

I have been playing Half-Life ever since it came out and truely i can say that it is the best game i have ever played. No one has even come close to making a game as good as Half-Life. It is forever expanding with its gameplay always being updated online, as well as the massive amounts of mods that are availible for this game. I give it the highest rating because it is truely the greatest game ever made.

best shooter of all time

Your, Gordon Freeman, a scietist at the Black Measa compound. During an experiment with an alien compound things go out of controle. After an explosion you find the secret base devastated and infested with aliens. You soon find that not only the aliens are after you but the army and other secret government agents are trying to eleminate you. Your job is to escape this hellish place and find out what has happened. This game is one of the best shooters I have ever seen on the computer. The one thing I really like about this game is that most of the game you really don't know what to do next even though events seem to just flowe naturaly. Eventhough most of the time I didn't know what was going to happen next, I never once got stuck and ask my self,"what the heck am I supposed to do" things just seemed flowed. The other thing is that there aren't any levels in the game; the game is a long flowing story line. Although the graphics and AI are a little dated the game play is still very imprestive. The only other gripe I have about this game is that there isn't a very large amount of enemies in the game. In spite of these small problems I still think the game is awsome and is a must have.

Half-Life is not the best just in it's kind. Half-Life is not the best game to come out just in this year. Half-Life is not the best game just to play in. It's simply THE BEST in EVERYTHING!!!

It's an ACTION with some STRATEGY, a little SCIENTIFIC FICTION, a lot of THRILLS, many AWESOME WEAPONS, many smart and strong ENEMIES, BEST GRAPHICS, HUGE Black Mesa Research Facility with as many rooms, tunnals and stractures as you can think, unbeleavably REALISTIC world, and of course TERRIFIYING INTENSITY that make up Half-Life:Game of the Year!!!

Better play good, proffesionaly and smart; otherwise monsters and soldiers will reap your heart out and shove it down you throat!
