Too overrated

I bought this game thinking it would be fun, I'm glad I waited for the price to go down before buying this. I didn't know there was time, a 24 hour day, was used in the game. The problem with this, at least for me, is 1) the time passes too quickly and I have to rush all the time to get things done, and 2) no strategy in the game, everything is linear in our goals. One Sim hour equals one minute in real time, and we can't set the speed slower. There's no adventure, no exploration in The Sims. What we do throughout the game is run our Sims around trying to keep our various moods in the up side of the scale. This quickly becomes routine and boring. I'd rather be playing a 3D action game for two hours straight rather then sending Sims to bed and to work and siting at the table eating over and over.

GREAT FOR PEOPLE WITH NEWER COMPUTERS! but...

its great for people with newer computers, i.e ones with windows ABOVE windows 98. but why stop at just livin large? they should have put ALL the EP's into one game. i been talkin to all my sim fan friends, about how they should make something like this, and after only TWO YEARS(?)! they make it. they made too many ep's.. who ever bought ALL of them, they would have probably needed a whole computer just for THE EP'S! its good they made this newer version, but they should have added more than just ONE ep to the game.

whoever's mad about buying all the ep's, they can just sell them.
by the way, dont get SIMS ONLINE, unless you want to pay a MONTHLY FEE, every month just for playing a game...

Kinda Fun, but mostly ANNOYING!

Overall, the concept of this game is fun and the writers had some really good ideas and it's funny in some ways. But what I HATE about this game is that you spend more than 70% of the time making them go to bed, eat, and go take a bath/shower!!! Like, I get it, but enough already... They have so little energy that you never have time to do anything fun. One or two activities, and they're down on the floor. WHAT?! Ha, don't even bother getting them a job b/c you will see them again...Just stick with the cheat codes. If this game did not have this one flaw (ie energy would last longer) then it would be awesome. I'm buying Sims 2 and I really hope that this will not be as big a problem!!!! Grrrr....

It is the BOMB!!!

This game was the bomb, but the best is still the original one. The original sims is the best in my eyes. The sims has great moral values and you can learn alot from the game. The sims has great factual information and lets people know what it is like in the real world. It gives a great sources so as kids grow up they know what it is like to survive in the real world. The sims make people pay bills, go to work and several other things. There is plenty more to say about the game so just buy it and see what it is like. Trust me you won't regret it!!!

Ups!!

Couldn't be installed on my PC. I know the game, and it is a lot of fun, very educational and good for the whole family to play.
It needs a lot of space and your PC might slow down on the memory it occupies.

Boooooooooorrrrrrrrring!!

I've heard so many people rave about the Sims over the past couple of years that I finally decided to break down and buy it. This is one of the few times that I have to say I honestly have no idea what the big deal is all about.

The Sim is a "people simulator". You create little people, plop them down in a house and control thier lives. You buy them clothes, furniture, make them meet people. Just about everything real people do. And that's basically the problem.

The thing I that I found least entertaining about the Sims is that the whole game revolves around what I call "micro-managment". Every last little detail you have to scrutinize. Though some might find this appealing, I found it tedious and boring. It makes me feel less like I'm playing a game and more like an accountant. The game is also quite slow paced. Even if you speed up time, the game can move too fast and then you can really lose control over the game.

The gameplay consists of a "point, click, and watch" formula for gameplay. You click on an object, your Sim person will walk to it, use it, and then go back to being idle. After time if you develop a pattern the Sim person will do things on his own, but that takes a while. After endlessly pointing and clicking and watching, I started to do things like try to set my Sim person on fire, or not have him go to the bathroom for a while. It is rather fun to torture your Sim person but it wears thin after a while.

The graphics are good. The Sims speak in some kind of jibberish. And there's lots of Sim skins available for download on the internet.

All in all I'd have to say that I really don't get this game. Maybe it's because I'm more used to games like Metal Gear Solid and SOCOM that I have trouble playing a game of this type. I tend to like having more direct control over the outcome of a game. The Sims made me feel like I'm a spectator. I'd have to say pick this up only you find a really good deal. Otherwise it's best to take the $20 you were going to spend and pick up something else. Sorry, but this is one I can't recomend.

SIMS are great!

Love the SIMS games. They've become very addictive. I've played all except unleashed and hot date. (But I'm sure they're just as fun as the rest). This Deluxe edition is a nice way to get started. One bit of advise, SIMS online isn't all it's cracked up to be, so I wouldn't waste your money on that one.

Terrific for starters!

I know, I know, I don't have the Sims Double Deluxe. Guess I bought this one too early! But if you don't wanna spend a lot of money, maybe you should get this and House Party separately.

I like this game a lot. I like how the grim reaper comes in when your sim's about to die. Once a burglar came into my house and stole my microwave! You will be remembering a lot of great times after you play this.

I say this game is great, I'm aiming for House Party now. But, if you wanna get them both together, get Double Deluxe. But this is a GGRREEAATT game and you're missing out on a lot if you don't buy any sims games.

simulated people

The Simms stands for simulated people. A simulation is like the real thing but on the computer. You dont move around a maze like Mario. YOu have to take care of you're SIMMS PEOPLE!! You have to feed them and give them windows and jobs and make them go to the bathroom. It's like your a scientist who controls the experiment which is people. And notice didnt say you are GOD Peo-PLE so you cant get made at me.

Now some warnigns about the game. Peoplewho play the Simms like to talk about wht there simms did that day and who they met and how they are doing. YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU'RE SIMM OR THEY WILL DIE PEO-PLE!!!! iF YOU THINK YOU CAN PLAY IT A LITTLE BIT and put it away then it is not for you. Go get Halo Half life or another first person shooter!! Part of the fun of the simms is being with people who now about it and want to talk to other people abbout how there Simms are doing!!!

Also it is very addicting!!!!

ALo you can kill your sim by putting them in the pool and taking the ladder away!!!

virtual crack

This game is so addicting its like virtual crack. You are given a free hand at creating a family, dressing them, naming them, giving them employment and designing and building their houses. This addition gives you more characters, friends, items to buy, and scenarios to create. The Sims are people who need the essentials (food, home, toilet, security) and social needs (friends, loved ones, and entertainment). You create how they live their lives and what perils they may encounter. Sims can marry, die, and have children. If you do not take care of your children they can be taken away, if you dont protect their house you can get robbed, if you dont show up to work you lose your job. I like that not only are you creating these characters lives but you are in charge of organizing them so they can stay out of trouble which would be good lessons for children. I really love the game but on the technical side, I had a lot of problems with my computer freezing and losing saved scenes. The software lasted me about 1 month (perhaps 15 days of play) before it started having some problems, and then about 3 months before it stopped working all together. I had problems with other Sims games, Sim City, and Sim Island. I have repeatedly replaced the software but eventually gave up. Since other people have also placed this concern in their reviews, I know this happens to others.
All in all, I really did enjoy this and it is a wonderful game for adults and kids because its creative, and highly enjoyable. Its also a blast to play on playstation but slightly different.
There are so many computer versions now that you can pick some other great Sim games as well.
