I have been an avid user of the SIMS ever since I got it. But, when we upgraded our computer to XP, I had to say goodbye to my friends the Sims. Until recently, Maxis came out with The SIMS Deluxe Edition. It's great for me because this version of the Sims is now compatable with Windows XP. It's also great because now you don't have to go out and re-buy the original game and the Livin' Large expansion pack all over again. They both come in one package, and not to mention it is a lot cheaper than buying seperately. This version also comes with some new skins, objects, and so much more! A must buy for Sims fans!! I hope this review helps ;)

HUGE fan of The Sims

If you are considering purchasing this game, well you are on the right track! The Sims and all of its expansion packs are amazing. I guess it does depend on the type of person you are, a handful of people find The Sims boring. But the Deluxe Edition is double the package than the original, and that is why the price is a bit higher than everything else. (Well it's different now, with Double Deluxe out the regular deluxe edition is WELL worth the price!!)

So what do you do when playing the sims? Basically you control the lives of these little 3D people (either adult or children). You get to dress them up, find a job, make friends to satisfy the social motive and get promotions with certain skills. You can burn, drown, or starve them (as torturous as this might sound, its actually kind of fun...). Also with the Deluxe Edition comes a bunch of new goodies that weren't in the original like Servo, the nifty $15,000 robot who serves your every need. He'll cook and clean while you make your sims couch potatoes. One thing I love is the Gnome maker. Your sims work on their mechanical skills while making these little gnomes (that can help you out with all of your gardening needs in Makin` Magic). There's also tons of different career tracks. You can be a chef or a musician or tons of other things, although you as the player do not get to follow the Sims to work, its still interesting to see.

The Sims, as other people say can get boring once in awhile, but thats why there are so many expansion packs, allowing one to visit other areas of the game. (Hot Date allows your Sim to go on dates, House Party lets you throw parties... and so on)You can now decorate with a lot more (i.e. rugs) and you get tons of new building tools (windows, doors, wallpaper, and floors). It's a lot more interesting with the other expansion packs, so if you purchase this one and get bored, buy some of the other ones. Unleashed is my favorite. It's fun to start off small, with the small, uncomfortable couches, loveseats, dining chairs/tables, beds, ... basically the cheapest of everything. And as your Sims rise to the top of their careers, so does your bank account, and voila! You have the big screen TV, giant windows, expensive flooring and etc.

Sometimes the Sims will irritate you because they're kinda dumb and get stuck sometimes. And of course once in awhile they'll just shrug their shoulders and forget everything you've qued up for them.

I give this game 5 stars because it runs smoothly on my system, and the installation time isn't all that bad, I can wait for the loading screen, and the game is just really entertaining and not to mention addicting. I adore all the little interactions and things to do with this game, and its pratically all I talk about =p

New to the Sims

I have wanted the Sims for a long time, it just looked fun. But no computer, no Sims. Finally, got a computer, and was gung-ho on buying the Sims. But wait, what's this, a deluxe version was coming out. I waited, and price compared, and Amazon had a better deal than I could get locally, and when that package came in the mail, I tore it open and got right down to playing. I have not played with the Sims Creator part of it much yet, but in due time! The game is great fun, my husband an I compete nonstop on building and decorating our houses. (His looks better!) The "Live" mode is great. It's best not to empathize with your Sims too much, or you can't pull yourself away until long past your bedtime! Much fun, I'm gonna have to buy expansioni packs, now!

It's great

This is an awsome game. It is the first version of the sims including the first epansion pack, livin large, and some new items. It also includes a program that lets you make your own skins easily. It is one of the best things maxis has ever come up with.

Excellent!

Okay then, my little kitties. Turn to me and watch the overly-mature 12 year old girl speak. This game is most definately not for anyone under the sixth grade, I warn you. Young ones, turn away. The Sims Deluxe needs it's precious space.

Okay. You know what? Every good game gets those one-star twerps who say it's horrible just to get everyone else ticked off. Unless they're serious, in which case they need serious therapy. I think the only downside is the demanding amount of memory your computer you need to have. That's the only downside. Because of this, I turned off Live PIP. Simple. Quickens things.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Sims can lead everyday lives or really exciting, spicy lives. Big house, little house, no house.. Hobo! You choose. It's so realistic.. Your sims can get married, have kids, have the babies grow to kids, Have the kids grow to adults, and have everyone die due to a huge fire caused by the genie in the corner. You can start a literal cemetary, have friends, and have enemies. It's hilarious when two sims get in a fight. I tell you, you need to see it.

And then, you have jobs. Now, as easy as it seems-It's not. It presents an awesome challenge for those who want to be at the top of the food chain in jobs. Or you can lead a bum's life and go bankrupt. And yes, you can go into debt. And you can get stuff taken away from not paying bills or kids taken away from not caring for them. I do tell you, good game. Buy it.

Awesome Computer Game

Two words: totally COOL!! This game is so fun, it's like real life! It becomes even funner when you get the expansion packs. You get to choose what your person looks like, design their house, buy them food and control them everywhere. If you get expansion packs, you can go on vacation, go into town, or get a pet!! It might be hard to earn money at first, so here's how you enter the cheat code:
1.Press Ctrl+Alt+C, a box will appear in the upper right-hand corner
2. Type the cheat code ROSEBUD in the box and you'll autimatically recieve $1000!
Buy this now!!

Forget tycoon! go for sims!

Wow. after tycoon games like zoo and roller caoster beating out every Sim game, im glad this one came in the picture to show Tycoon up. Ive never been a big fan of Sim games like Simcity anyway, mainly because i never really got interested...or unserstood them. However, I recently got hooked on the Sims at a friends house, and now i am addicted! This is the only game you will ever need! well, that and the expansion sets, of course :)

However, if you are considering buying the Sims, make is the Deluxe edition. It is worth it to upgrade from the original Sims, because youre going to want to add on soon after opening and playing it anyway, so you'll save some time.

I'll buy it!

Yes, it is a bit sad for some people that this newer version has come out when they've already purchased the original Sims. However, it will have some cool new stuff on it that well worth it to me to purchase. I can't wait to get it!
And Maxis is offering a 10.00 rebate to those who've purchased the original game, which I think is pretty cool.

Totally Awesome!

This is for-real, an awesome game! You can make your own sims and run or ruin their lives! This is definitely worth your money!!! Beware though, it's very addicting. I got addicted to it real fast. Oh, and I have a cheat code for you to make more money. Do this, rosebuds;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!:! Don't FORGET THE END SYMBOLS!!! Whenever it says code doesn't exist, or something like that, click ok as much as you want and you'll make more money for a house and stuff. Hope this review is helpful unlike This is Very Funn... review. I know that one stunk!

This game is fun and exicting. I like the new sims creator it is awesome you can make a sim that looks just like you all the way down to the facial hair. The combination of THE SIMS and THE LIVIN LARGE expanision make a great combo. You will love the new $15,000 maid and once you bye him he does everthing for free. Oh and here is a secret to unlock the cheat menu press [Ctrl] [shift] and then [c] then type in rosebud; as many times as you want to get tons of simoleons or money. oh just make sure that you type the (;) semicolon after each rosebud and no spaces
