I have purchased and installed Sims Deluxe, and it does not get rid of old families or data. Everything is still as you left it, but now you have some cool new features to use.

Totally Addictive

I avoided buying this game for a while figuring it might suck me in... I was right. My first recommendation, especially if you have not played the Sim's before is to actually read the manual. Before I knew what I was doing I was playing the families that were already set up and one couple wouldn't sleep together and one was so depressed I couldn't get him to look for a job. Then in the other house one got burnt up in a stove fire and the child got sent off to military school. After reading the manual I realized that you can buy fire alarms which automatically call the fire man, Burglar alarms that call the police, and that your Sim's can take a day off (but not two in a row). If they aren't having enough fun you give them a day off. If they have a baby you have them take turns staying home with the baby. Even so, make sure they are in real good moods before having the baby because it's definitely hard on them. All in all I am really enjoying the game. It is fun choosing carrier tracks and trying to make them succeed. They do not always do what you want them to. I've been trying to get one of the Sim's I created to marry my poor widow but every time she proposes he has some lame excuse why not. Well that's part of the fun... They have free will.

I love the sims. They met my expectations and then some. My only complaitns are that

1) You have to let them go to the bathroom and sleep other wise they wil just crasho on the floor

2) If you have a really unhappy household this clown will show up and won't leave unitl you call the clown catchers (you have to pay them $300.

3)If you don't keep them happy they won't listen to you

This game is very educational and fun. The whole family can enjoy it and the teen rating is only for minor romance. It has many expansions and the company is always producing new ones. The Sims Online is coming out in December. This program does take up a fair amount of memory and I would suggest you have a large hardrive. I really enjoyed it! Big thumbs up.

LOVE IT!!!!

I am new to the Sims Family series. I decided to purchase this game after a friend's favorable reccomendation. I'm pregnant and on bedrest until I reach full term. I was beginning to run out of ways to past time away and so my friend suggested that I look into buying the Sims Game. I did and I'm glad. It's so easy to get into the game and lose track of time and that's wonderful for me. It truly serves its purpose in which I bought it. I'm really having fun with it.

Thoughts from a NON-GAMER

As someone who has had trouble playing video games on the computer mostly because I don't have the patience or the desire to simply blow things up, or go around killing things (as most PC games have you do) this one was a real surprize.
The game is relatively simple in its game play, yet oddly compelling and addictive. You can play the game forever and always find new things to do.
Some advise to non-gamers like me: The most frustrating part of the game is getting started. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how keep my Sim's emotions up. The game became annoying because I spent most of a day in the game keeping my Sim from being hungry or low on energy. The best thing to do (at least for me) was concentrate on the basics first; get your cooking and mechanical skills up quikly and earn money at your job. And most importantly GET A MAID. Once you move up, then the game becomes more fun because you can buy and build things and not worry about keeping you Sim's emotions up so much.
So if your not a real gamer, but want to play a game that is fun, witty and intelligent I recommend THE SIMS!
Now its time for me to buy an expansion pack and get even more suck into the world of the SIMS...

Dont waste your money

First, Let me say, the reason I gave this a 1 star rating isnt the game itself, I havent gotten to play it yet! Not from this disc. I ordered it brand new, it was delivered, I unwrapped it, and tried to install it. The serial # EA GAMES printed on it (which you have to have to install it on your computer), is invalid!!!! And, I cant get an answer from their tech support/customer service on this. I have found others who have bought this version with the exact same problem. If you can get this in a jewel case, good. It seems when they come in the case shown on this page, the serial #'s wont work, and you have to go through a huge hassel to get it fixed. ***This is not an amazon problem, it is an EA GAMES problem

The best sleeing game on the planet, and the best-selling expansion pack!!!

This is probably the most fun i have ever had playing video games. If you like to be in control, this game is for you! and dont worry, there are plenty of expansion packs just waiting for you to buy them. First choose from many hairstyles and clothing options to make your person and their family. Then buy or build a house and furnish it however you like. Then L*I*V*E!!! Find a job for your sim, make friends, and maybe someday become Mayor of SimCity! (Here's a tip: for an extra 1000 simoleons, type ctrl-shift-c and a box comes up in the upper-lefthand corner. Then type rosebud! and you have an extra 1000 simoleons! go to gamewinners.com for more cheats!)

You don't need extra sleep, but it is really addictive!

The Sims is a simulation game where you can run the lives of existing people(they are called Sims) or create your own. They can have children, be abducted by aliens, get jobs, cook, clean, and more. However, your Sims sometimes have minds of their own! They will serve dinner when they can't cook and might set the house on fire if you don't stop them. They autonomously shoo other Sims out of the bathroom and perform other funny and cute actions. I recommend this game.

You need a lot of memory!!!!!!

This game is not good for a laptop or a computer with not a lot of memory. I'm warning you!!! It's such a good game though, a little bit addicting!!
