A scary easy puzzle game

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 2 / 2

Amber is another first person puzzle game that is also a bit strange , and for some people scary. The graphics are not bad, even though it is a frame by frame view. The puzzles are not really challenging at all, so if your looking for another Myst type game, this is not the game for you. If your looking for an easy going, non-gory, scare type of game, then you have found the right game for you. Some parts of game play are a little confusing, like trying to move around and that sort, but over time you will get use to it. I also was able to finish the game in two days, so it is a bit short, and the ending is kind of dumm. I would also not recommend this game for younger children, it may frighten them to much.

AMBER- JUST PLAIN FUN

Amber is a CLASSIC computer adventure game, in the style of the original MYST. It is not as long a game, but entirely enjoyable.
The puzzles are not THAT hard (not THAT easy either), and I only needed to look at a walkthrough a couple of times.

An interesting array of different set ups through the game.
Set your computer screen for lower resolution, and the game window gets bigger-- 800X600 will fill up your monitor screen.

THis is my second time playing the game- and it took a lot of investigation to figure out (on the web) that Amber WILL NOT- ABSOLUTELY NOT WORK ON WINDOWS XP. You need an older OS, Win98 is perfect. I bought a computer at the Salvation Army with 98 on it just to play this game-- it was worth it.

A very nostalgic thing about the game, very involving, very atmospheric with beautiful sound effects and story.

Remember, its more rudimentary looking than many games today, but this in no way detracts from the enjoyment.

A very cool game. I'll wait a couple of years and play it again.

As a person interested in some paranormal happenings, I found this game to be right up my alley. The graphics were gorgeous, the sound effects and music spine-tinglingly haunting, and the storyline compelling. Once I started the game, I could not be pried away from my computer!

Fun Game

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Yep, it is a bargain game, but well worth the 10 dollars spent on it.

The puzzles are fairly simple as long as you pay attention to the hints scattered throughout the game. There is no combat, which is a plus to me.

The scenes are well set up and there are some very spooky parts to this game. (All I have to say is clown puppet...shiver!)

Overall good game for those who like to puzzle about within a storyline.

I really enjoyed this game. I was turned on to it by some friends who witnessed my frustration with Myst and Riven. They knew my interest in the paranormal and passed this one along. I've had it for several years now and have solved it umpteen times, it's just fun to revisit it once in awhile. The only problem is that I'm running XP now and I've tried changing the compatibility in the computer, but I can't play it anymore. I suppose that the company is out of business or something because their website is non-existant and there is no contact number. Good luck to those running a newer version of Windows who want to play this- it's a great game though!!

Pleasant rainy weekend diversion

Interesting little game, though it's nothing to write home about. Graphics are passable, acting pretty good, writing fine (better than the execution, unfortunately). Takes a while to get started, but once it really starts it's got some great moments. Not scary, except in a pleasantly spooky slumber-party-ghost-story sort of way.

I rather enjoyed this game

Amber is the first game I ever completely made it through. I bought it and completed it in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I used a walk thru to help or else I wouldve been totally lost. Kudos to Hugh Forest on their choice for the actress who played Roxy (Verrrry nice). Also, I found Brice's world to be the most disturbing of the three stories due to his obviously sad state of mind. The first story was great in that it was very environmental and in made you feel you were back in the 40's, especially with the radio announcer in the background. I recommend this game for everyone. It is creepy but not to the point where your kids cant watch you play. Only a couple of scenes really gave me a cause to pause and feel sad for the victims. Well done on an emotionally charged game. I look forward to another from this company.

Can't play it

I was suprised to read that other people have played this game. I have windows XP and I cannot get it to play. If someone can tell me how you got this to play, I would very much appreciate it.
