MUNCH'S ODDYSEE is the first game in the Oddysee franchise that I have played. The first two games in the series were released on Playstation formats, but MUNCH'S ODDYSEE came out on X-Box and was one of the launch games of that system. I first played this game at a friend's house not long after it came out. I was fascinated by the amazing graphics and having different characters in the world literally follow the main characters around. It wasn't until recently, however, that I was able to get the game myself and play it all the way through.
MUNCH'S ODDYSEE is the third game in the Oddworld series. If you're like me and have never played any of the other games in the series, that's okay because there's a movie at the beginning of the game that explains Abe's adventures in the first two games and the connection between Abe's race, the Mudokon's, and Gabe's race, the Gabbits. Munch is the last living Gabbit, but is captured by the evil Vykkers, a race of creatures bent on domination, consumerism, industrialism, and environmental destruction. Munch is taken captive and one of the early levels of MUNCH'S ODDYSEE involves helping Munch escape from the Vykker's labs' ship. Once Abe and Munch meet up, the general storyline of the game involves getting back to the Vykker's Labs ship to rescue the egg crates full of Mudokon young and save the last can of Gabbit eggs in existence.
The graphics in the game are amazing. It feels and looks like you are playing a movie. This shouldn't come as a surprise because the Oddworld series was originally conceived as a set of films. However, the company, Oddworld Inhabitants, started making video games instead. Oddworld Inhabitants has gone back to their original plans and the first Oddworld movie is apparently in production.
As for game play, MUNCH'S ODDYSEE is simple enough that even most beginning gamers can play along fairly easily, yet the game has enough challenges to make it interesting enough for life-long gamers. The game is fun to play and appeals to children and young adults, but has enough humor and oddity to appeal that it appeals to older gamers, too. Now that I've experienced Oddworld, I'm looking forward to the cinematic tales Oddworld Inhabitants will bring.

This is the best game on the XBox. It's easy to control and move around the charactors. It has just enough fighting and well done puzzles and the game looks so beyond good! You would have fun just looking at the senery. The best part of the game is it will keep you laughing. The creatures are so cute and the things they say and do and their reactions to things are so funny. I thought I wouldn't like this game because the different creatures looked way too weird, but they actually grow on you and you can see a certain cutness about them. My favorite creatures are the fuzzy ones (You'll see why). So if you want an adventure game with action, puzzles, comedy, magic and simply stunning graphics... look no further!

I was skeptical when I first got Oddworld. The first game in the series wasn't that fun and this game looked kind of boring. I was wrong! This game is great. The only bad thing about it is that you'll play it so much that the game will be over too soon.
Great Graphics and good story line, but a little goofy

The first thing you notice about the game is the incredible graphics and world that you are now in. It's truly amazing what they have done. I was not completly impressed with the actual game play, probably because I'm not much for these types of games. All in all it was a fun game to play for a few days, but I wouldn't buy this game.

I bought both Oddworlds on the PSX and was addicted and couldn't put them down until I beat them. This game is probably one of the most original series out there for home video game consoles. When the XBox was coming out last year and I saw that Oddworld was going to be on it I had to purchase it. This game is probably as addicting as crack without the part where you sell all of your possessions for a hit. You might skip a shower and sleep though, while using it. lol If you like strategy, puzzles, and innovation then this one is for you. This has got to be the most universal game as well for any age. I saw it brand new at Wal-Mart for 29.95 go buy it. There are no excuses not to. Are you still reading this? Get in the car and go get it... NOW!!!!
Good game...

This is an entertaining game. The only launch game I still own and pop in from time to time. More than I can say for the extremely overrated Halo.

Oddworld...Oddworld...where to begin? I recently purchased the two prequels (Abe's Exodus and Abe's oddysee) and Munch's Oddysee is much different. Anyway, you find out that Munch, the last Gabbit (fishlike creature) is wanted for the lungs of the Glukkon Queen. He runs into Abe, a Mudokon, and together, they go on the ultimate quest for the last can of Gabbiar (a pun for caviar), Gabbit eggs. The game used to be based on GameSpeak, a function of Abe to talk to his buds and have them do stuff like pull levers and such, but it is more puzzley than before. Abe can jump well over land but cannot swim. Munch is a good swimmer, but cannot talk to Abe's pals. See what I mean about the puzzles? Overall, the Newspaper clippings you get are HILARIOUS so buy this game if you can find a reasonable price and if your not the kind of puzzle-kind of guy, buy Halo.
I loved this game

Munche's Odyssey is one of the best games I have ever played. I would advise anyone who likes adventure games to check it out. It didn't last to long because I passed the game in a week and since there is no multi-player I don't play it anymore. The game is very cheep and it's worth it.
Great, but a little too easy and a little too short

(...) Munches Oddysee is a great continuation of the series. The 3D is nice, the 2 character interaction is nice, the graphics are excellent. The flaw in this game is that it is in no way the challange that "Abe's Exodus" was. All of the situations you're placed in have pretty easy obvious solutions, and there aren't the same number of levels of play. I'm already done with it and my only complaints are "more levels", "more difficult", and "more gamespeak". If Xbox games can support more than one disk, then the effort should go in that direction.
Oh, and yes. It's a puzzle game, not an FPS. If you're looking for another 'Halo', this isn't it, too bad.
