At first Amped may seem pretty cool, but the game play [is bad]. You only have a limitted trick use and you only land about half of them. The graphics are good but thats it. Once you get into the game it gets hard and pretty soon your stuck. Don't rely on the codes to get you out of this one.
Don't buy this game!

Don't but this game! It is the worse game I have ever played on a vedio counsoul! Even though i'm not very good at the ski/snowboarding game on any system, I belive this game [stinks]! If your someone who is like me don't get this game, get a soccer or basketball game instead. The day after i bought this i sold it. I couldn't return it so i lost a lot of money. I HATE THIS GAME!

I was very misled from the start of this game. I love the graphics and the slopes. But putting all that aside, I hereby explain why this game is horrible. The game engine is too inconsistent, one minute you'll be riding like a pro, wondering why you pull off a nice pipe grind when you were 5 feet away from the darn thing. The next minute, you're cussing out the television with your family watching in absurdity. The controls would be great if there weren't 15 different ways to do the same trick, and your lucky if you happen to get one right. I read the manual cover to cover, back and forth...and I swear the button combonations for the different tricks are all wrong.
This would have been a great game if Neversoft created, and if it was made for PS2. My opinion is that all the talent in creating this game was wasted on the great graphics and the 1,000 song soundtrack it comes with. You can polish a piece of poo as much as you want...it will always be poo.

if you want tony hawk, get tony hawk. This is a water down tony hawk, with less tricks, same graphics, and slower action, if it can be called this. Despite earlier posts, this game has been bashed by magizines, such as Next-Gen mag, who calls it the worst launch x-box game, keeping in mind that shrek launches with the system too
The most annoying person ever is in this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this game was pretty fun. That is until i got to the third to last level where there's a snowboarder you have to compete with. This person has the most annoying voice and personality ever. Shes so bad she makes me want to stick a pencil in my ear and swirl it around so I won't have to listen to her. Along with her (or his, i can't decide) impossibly annoying voice there's the fact that she keeps saying things like "that was ill!" or "mad-tight" and also "if you broke your arm my brother gets your pass". No joke. Plus the task on that level is imposible. At first i got stuck a lot, but then i remembered i had the magical power to ride straight through stuff (rails, trees, pretty much anything). This level is god-awful, and it ruins the rest of the experiance.
Why the guy on the cover is so happy

Do you see the cover of this game? He is so happy, raising his hands up in the air, because he just finished a run. He is happy that he finished a run because it was sooo awful. While playing this game, first of all, I couldn't complete 50 yards without having to change the song that was playing because every song during the runs are pitiful. The songs are not even a fraction of what makes this game bad. I was hoping that maybe big-foot would come out of the woods and eat me, to save me from having to play this game. The gameplay is difficult, jumps are horrible, in that there are either to many or not enough in a level, landing is too difficult, and you cannot grind a much of the rails they give you. I could do better at snowboarding if I were to lay my kitchen table on the snow and go down a hill. And the media points you get for performing tricks in front of a camera crew to get sponsors. Thank you very much. I would rather receive a pile of rocks for doing tricks and then be able to throw them at the camera crew. Why do I even play? Did you ask? Well, because codes make it easier to jump higher, and get all of the courses, which are pretty much all the same to begin with, but they make it just fun enough that I don't throw the game out my window, but their are so many you have to enter in to make it remotely fun, and it takes so long, and it is so frusterating because it is even difficult to enter in all of your codes. So don't bother with this game. Take your family to a real ski resort, lay your sister down on the ground at the top of a mountain and snowboard using her.
Great Graphics semi-fun game play

I bought this game on a whim. It has great graphics and a large assortment of mp3s. The playability and fun factor for this game are not that great. It's a great game for a bunch of friends to play for no more than 30 minutes. That is the only time I play it. The moves get kinda old and the fact that you can't go just anywhere around the mountain.. yes there are boundaries... The best game out on the XBox at this current time is Halo. If you are looking at this title and do not yet own Halo and are a "mature" gamer I would highly recommend purchasing HALO first and reading more reviews on Amped. It is not that great of a game, I'm waiting for a better snowboarding game. Thx.
When compared to SSX Tricky, Amped shows HUGE flaws

Microsoft's Amped is a mediocre game, with flawed physics and awkward controls. The gameplay is centered around being free to go anywhere you please, but I never truly felt free at all. Though you are able to ride around everywhere, I still felt that I was set on a predetermined path and trying to change course was more difficult than it should have been. The controls for doing grabs are mapped out onto the right thumb-pad, leading to unneeded falls. The trick system is very basic and every character has the exact same grabs and tricks. The trick system feels extremely linear and leaves no room for experimentation. When I first bought Amped, I was expecting a snowboarding game based on realism, but I soon found out that Amped is NOT realistic at all and SSX Tricky, also on X-Box, is easily a much better game. Though not bad, Amped cannot contend with games like SSX Tricky on the market. Amped should be sitting in a bargain bin instead of in a gamer's collection.
