Warning -- some spoilers at the bottom:
We have and have played all of the Nancy Drew games. This one seemed unfinished somehow. There were several clues that were never explained -- the phone number in the locker, for one. The educational aspect of this game was practically nill -- Thy have a game where you have to pay to learn about Hawaii, but only one section is necessary to play the game -- in fact, other than that one section, none of the extra games you play at Big Mikes were required to win the game. I also do not appreciate games where you are very likely to die several times and have to use second chance to win the game. I also really do not like the scuba diving (requiring holding breath) scenarios that they've added lately. I don't mind time limits, but the breath meter can be used up faster than it should if your computer is running slow or you have another program running in the background.
Spoilers:
In summation, they don't even mention if Joe recovered from being clobbered over the head or not!!
And what was Pua doing, directing us to, and giving the map for the secret cave if she was the one causing the problems in the first place??
Not Great

Okay, to put it kindly, this game did not live up to my expectations. I love the Nancy Drew games, but this one was a disapointment.
The game opens in Nancy's room, where Nancy gives you a quick overview of detective work. Then it's off to Hawaii. Nancy is there to work for eccentric bug doctor Dr. Quigley Kim, but before she can go to Quigley's camp, she needs to stop buy Big Island mike's Emmersion Excursions Center. And while she's there, she just happens to run into--guess who--the Hardy boys!
Okay, my first point of disgust--the Hardy Brothers. Since the annimation company changed Frank and Joe's appearences have changed in a rather unflattering way. Frank's head is huge, and Joe looks like he's wearing about a pound of makeup. It turns out that Frank and Joe are staying at the Emmersion Excursion Center to do some exploration of Big Island Mike's past. After talking to the Hardy Boys, Nancy drives to Quigley's camp and--just our luck--gets stranded there.
You can play as the Hardy boys by calling their cell phone, but there really isn't a point. All Frank and Joe can do is walking around the center, talk to Pua and Mike, and collect shells.
So anyway, Nancy is the main mastermind. She does some poking around, solves some annoying and very boring puzzles that seemingly have nothing to do with the mystery, and then catches the culprit--but not in the usual race-the-clock method that she usually uses. Oh no--that would be too interesting for this game.
Anyway, this game wasn't horrible, but it could have been much better. If you're looking for a Nancy Drew game, I'd reccomend Danger on Deception Island.
Flashy graphics but over in a flash

I've played every Nancy Drew game and I was so excited to get this one for Christmas! Too bad I was done by the end of the day. The game was so easy to complete if you are familiar with Nancy Drew games. I was shocked when it ended. Seems like HerInteractive wanted the game out for the Christmas season and ran out of time to develop a good quality game with complex puzzles and a good story-line. If the game was truly developed, Nancy wouldn't have to talk for three minutes at the end to explain to us users what really happened. We would have figured most of it out in our detective work in the game!! Cool new features: GPS and Hardy Boy Switch. I hope this doesn't mean the end of a winning streak for the Nancy Drew series.
Disappointed!

I am a huge fan as many others have noted. I agree with other reviewers that this game fell way short of expectations. I think the only reason the game took any time at all was because I kept making necklaces to buy so many snowcones! Very annoying! The puzzles (what puzzles there were) were extremely easy and the ending came way too early. The ending was very anticlimatic and confusing as well. I too miss the good old days of Nancy Drew where there wasn't so much busy work and actual sleuthing skills were needed. I hope the next game will be of a higher caliber or I will probably give up on the series.
NOT AS GOOD AS THE OTHER N DREW GAMES

This game is a lot of fun but, at least with me and my grandkids, more geared towards girls than boys. This is fine with us since so many other games are typically made with males in mind and we girls love computer games as well.
Too short

The game was fun but really short. Compared to some of the previous games this was too easy. Liked the switching between Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.
Great game!

Nancy Drew and the Creature of Kapu Cave is a great game! You get to step into Nancy Drew's shoes and solve an ancient mystery on the beautiful island of hawaii! Kids of all ages will love this game, you can also learn many things about hawaii. I got this game two days ago, and just finished it. The game is exciting and has many twists and turns, you can even change into the hardy boys when you call them on your cell phone! It is hard to guess who did the crime at the end. Could it be the bad-tempered, mad scientist? Or Quiggly Kim? IT MIGHT EVEN BE THE CREATURE FROM HAWAII'S PAST. There are many other characters in the game.

I own and have played all of the Nancy Drew games prior to this one and loved them all! NOT THIS GAME! What did happen? This game not very good! It lacks puzzles, story, and fun. I was really excited by the interesting storyline presented on the box, but it certainly wasn't a very big part of the game! Enough ranting, here is my review.
Plot- D+ What plot? I never really figured out the plot. There is no creature, so don't get your hopes up there!
Graphics- A++ The fact that the graphics were beautiful was the only reason I gave this game 3 stars. From the waves lapping the beach, to the lush forests, the graphics were incredible! A++++++++++ (This is practically the only good thing I have to say about the game, but it was great!)
Puzzles- C+ There were very few puzzles to actually solve, and you spent most of your time sorting... frass. Frass, in case you don't know, is a fancy way to say insect poop. Lovely. My dream way to spend a few hours! Oh, and you get to study it under a microscope! Aren't you excited already!
Ending- B This game took me about six hours to solve total. Then it ended very abruptly. It was a very, very, very, very short game. There were only four characters in the game, and two of them were involved in the crime. How can you be surprised when they reveal the culprit!
Content A++++ The only other good thing about the game besides the graphics is that (unless sorting frass for hours would somehow be against your principles) it is clean for everyone. No language, no violence.
Overall- C Don't waste your money on this game unless you are a die hard fan of the Nancy Drew games like myself. At least then you can tell yourself that you are being loyal to the games that you used to love. I do still love the old games!

I liked this game a lot. It was neat because I'm from Hawaii so it was kinda cool. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because the game isn't completely clear on what you need to do at times. There were times that I found it more interesting to play Joe Hardy on the beach rather than not know what to do with Nancy. The tasks that Quigly gives Nancy aren't very clear. She doesn't give her very good directions, so you might need to find a walkthrough for those parts.
I liked the new graphics and the new features. Having Frank and Joe Hardy was a good addition. The graphics were wonderful. It was also an interesting plot. Overall this is a good game, my only complaint is that it's not very clear at times of what you're supposed to do.
