Scarlet Hand wasn't one of my favorite ND games, great graphics but tedious in the gameplay. There are lots of long, boring tasks of organization and retrival that just keep coming. Unless this is what you are looking for, I would suggest a different ND game. On the plus side, it did have a good ending.

One of my favorites! The Haunted Carosel Review

Maybe it's because this was one of my earlier nancy drew games, but i disagree when people say this game is too short. there's a lot of action and everything that you have to do takes a decent amount of time. every thing about this game was fun- except one arcade game. eventually we got it but it was hard! i'm going to rate the features on a scale of 1-10, 1 the worst and 10 the best.

GRAPHICS: 8.99 they're not the BEST but pretty good. actually i'd say they're very good. probably the newest ones have the absolute best graphics, but these are also extremely good.

PLOT/STORYLINE: 8 hmmm. basiclly, the amusmant park nancy is investigating is supposedly "haunted"and the carousel is going around...by itself....in the middle of th night! and the rollercoaster suddenly stops, causing an accidnet! the owner wants nancy to find out why the park is "malfunctioning". also, kind of a "mini-mystery": help one of the employees, joy, to help "get her memories back
' with...................wait for it................miles the magnificant memory machine!he's kind of a robot. machine. type thing. y. all the characters have motives...actually, this was one of th eones where i had no idea who was the bad person.....maybe you wil know????!!!!???!!!

CHARACTERS:10 ooh!!!! i LOVE the characters!!!!!! they are SOOOO COOL!!! here they are!
Ingrid: head engineer. supersticious. also...strange. (you'll see.) and... suspicous. also i love her voice! its hard to describe but its smooth and..see for your self! she recently apparently came into a lot of money. at least, she's buying expensive jewelrey. and looking aat expensive cars. hmm....
Elliot: art person. painter. you get the idea. behind on his work. could he be telling the truth when he says that hes just a procrasinator? or maybe he's just preoccupied....by something sinister????!!!!???
Joy: ah yes.she thinks the owner is cursing the park to attract cutomers. her name is ironic, as harlan describes her as "joy-less". but she really is. maybe because both her parents are dead?her dad was the owners partner. joy doesn't have any memories of her mom. hmm......maybe nancy can help....
Harlan: security guard.suspicous of ingrid. reminds me of a (skinny) teddy bear by his voice. seems nice...but he's...hiding somethinmg. at least, it seems that way. suspicous of ingrid. does he have a shady past?.....

GAMEPLAY: 7.5 took me about about 2 weeks, maybe 3weeks. more experianced palyers can probably solve in a week or less. harder than the secret of the old clock but easier than ghost dogs (to me)

SCARYNESS: 5 not really scary, exept the haunted house is kind of scary but not like goose-bump scary or anything. mostly the suspence is what makes it scary. the end is a teensy bit scary, but not more than most nancy drew games

PHONE: you have a cell phone! you can call bess and george, the owner of the park, a detective, various people who's phone numberse you find, and i think you can call the hardy boys but i'm not sure.

EXTRA: you have your own hotel room! which you can go in. you also have a laptop in your hotel room with various features! you can order food from room service! and...at the park there are games you can play, prizes to win...and you can riede a certain ride! and more!!!!!

OVERALL: not an overly difficult game, i'd say medium easy on a sclae of 1-10 10being the hardest i'd say 5-6 for more experianced players, 7-7.5 for new players

I RECCOMEND THIS GAME TO EVERYONE! EVEN IF YOU THINK IT IS EASY YOU WILL WANT TO PLAY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN! FUN FOR EVERYONE! WORTH YOUR MONEY!
PS i'm sorry this is so long!!! :-)

I thought that this game was totally awesome! I really enjoyed it! I played it in 4 days, and it usually takes me much longer! It wasn't too hard, but hard enough. It's not as scary as some of the Nancy Drew games. There are four charactors: Sally McDonald (the lady who asked you to come there), Red Knott (a birdwatcher), Emily Griffen (a lady who owns a store), and Jeff Akers (the closest thing to a police officer that the town has). You never meet Sally, but you meet the other three. Oh, yes. I forgot you meet the ghost dogs...

The ninth of the Nancy Drew Mystery Series. This is my favorite game, so I'm gonna go nuts here. Things are graded A-F, just like school.

The Crime: A +

Nancy tries to take another vacation, this time by spending some time on Katie Firestone's whale watching boat in Snake Horse Harbor. The minute she arrives, plans change! Katie's boat has been vandalized. An orphan orca has shown up in the bay and there are different opinions as to what to do with it. Did Katie's big mouth get her in trouble?

Suspects include fisherman Holt Scotto, cafe-owner Jenna Devlin, and rival whale watching tourguide Andy Jason.

I'd never had a chance to learn anything about whales or the ocean and thought this was an endlessly cool premise.

Puzzles: A +

Nancy has to figure out everything from nautical terms to knots to Morse code. People give her tasks and quizzes. It can be as easy as making a sandwich or as hard as traveling underground tunnels and counting rocks.

Gameplay: A +

This game has it all. You can spend time out on the water in a kayak, eat a bowl of hearty chowder (or maybe a blueberry muffin) in the Hot Kettle Cafe, read about the local sea monster, build sand castles on a remote beach and dig for clams in the sand.

The only thing missing is maybe romance. But you get to talk to Frank and Joe Hardy on the phone, so that's close enough. (I love those boys.)

Time Changes: None.

Voice Acting: A +
In a word, perfect.

Favorites -
"Ah. Nuts." Andy Jason
"Next one'll be on the house, too." Jenna Devlin
"Vote for Holt!" Holt Scotto

Music: A +

I loved, loved, loved the music. The travel music was jaunty and perfectly fit the ambiance of the tiny seaside town. Especially cool was the little flute trill that occurred as you finished a puzzle.

Graphics/Video: A +

Getting better and better all the time. Bonus points for the animated sequences such as the whale watching tour.

Technical: B

I'm one of a few people who have had this problem, but no matter what I did, DDI wouldn't fully install on my computer. There was an error copying files and no matter what I did, it wouldn't fix it, even following HI's advice on the technical support board. Running the game from the disc rather than installing to my computer fixed the problem completely though.

Overall, I think this one is the pinnacle of HI's goodness.

If you love Nancy Drew, this one's for you. All-time favorite.

Released too soon?

I was quite disappointed with this new addition to the series. It seems to have so many flaws and inconsistencies. As just one example, there are many places where you can't rotate 360 degrees and navigation becomes quite a problem. I wound up going places I didn't want to go on numerous occasions simply because the program wouldn't let me turn around. Another problem with the game is that it seems very sloppy. If you come at something from one angle, a door is there; if you come at it from another angle, the door has disappeared. It's a cute game, and I don't mean to imply otherwise. However, I think Her Interactive should have delayed the release until the many flaws were worked out. I thought Message in a Haunted Mansion was far superior technically.

Brought back memories of all those Nancy Drew books I read.

As a 28 year old woman, my first concern was whether this game would be too elementary for me. But, I took the gamble and bought it. Not only did it bring back the memories of those wonderful mysteries I read when I was younger, but it also puts you into Nancy's shoes- allowing you to make decisions on what to do and what to say. The graphics are great and you actually have to think- there are several challenges and puzzles you must solve throughout the game to ultimately solve the mystery in the Royal Tower. And when ever you need help, you can call Bess and George, or even good old Ned Nickerson (remember him?).

So many secrets

I think the Nancy Drew computer games are the best computer games I've ever played. One of my favorites is Treasure in a Royal Tower. There are so many secret passageways and hidden messages to find but they are not as challenging to find as you think! An elevator gets stuck here, an alarm goes off there, but they are all hidden clues to help you solve the mystery of the vandalized library and the sealed off tower.

Mystery #5 Times Better Than The First

I've played all the Nancy Drew games, and think this is the best one so far. Like most of the Nancy games you explore a mysterious, often creepy environment, and pickup interesting facts along the way. There are always little surprises, that might make you flinch a little, when they pop up. And don't forget if you're in a pinch to use a lifeline and phone a friend!

The Graphics are very good on the Nancy games, and offer enough challenges to keep older players interested, while not overwhelming younger players at the same time.

I really like the diversity offered in the Nancy Drew games, it's nice to see people of all different backgrounds represented, something usually lacking in most other games.

With the book and necklace this collectors set would make a great gift for any Nancy fan, or is a nice way to introduce new players to the Nancy games.

Can't wait for the next one!

Better & Better!

The Nancy Drew Mystery Games from Her Interactive are superb, and everything, from the graphics to the mystery, just keeps getting better and better.
The graphics in this game are realistic and detailed, from spilled popcorn to projector gears.
The characters are excellent, and Nancy's responses can be humorous.
All together, this mystery weaves a suspenseful tale of excitement, danger, and (of course) mystery.
I highly recommend this game and all other Nancy Drew Mystery Games.

didn't live up to my expectations

After playing mystery in a haunted mansion , i bought this. it was more difficult than i expected , and not as many places to explore as the haunted mansion game. however , it was still very fun . also , i finished it within two nights , which was dissapointing , because i looked forward to playing for a week or two. but the characters were very interesting and misleading... so i didnt know who did it until the very end. overall , it was a good game
