Nancy Drew arrives at Wickford Castle to ski, when a blizzard hits! While you're locked in, you explore the castle and meet some interesting suspects, Dexter, the co-owner, always wants you to run errands for him, and seems sort of grumpy, could he be hiding a secret about the castles history? Lisa, a photo journalist, too friendly? And if she's a photo journalist, where's the camara? Professer Hotchkiss, she never leaves her room, and never seems to want to talk, is she hiding something? Jacues Brunais, ski instructer, only works from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm, where is he the rest of the time? Explore the castle, and find secret passage ways, solve puzzles, and find the Treasure in the Royal Tower!

THE BEST NANCY DREW GAME SO FAR!!

There are about 15 Nancy Drew Mystery Games out right now and this one still remains my favorite! Lots of fun and excitement, great characters, graphics, music, suspense, puzzles, everything! I felt like I was re-living one of the Nancy Drew books I used to read! The endings of these games are what should be the big payoff for players! Some can be a bit dull. But this one had one of the best endings as you use your wits to defeat the culprit plus there was a lot of suspense. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake also had a really fun, exciting ending as did Secret of Shadow Ranch. I hope the Her Interactive Team uses these 3 games as prime examples of how the rest of their future releases should be!

The Nancy Drew games got off to a slow start but eventually picked up steam when the third installment (#3) came out taking us to San Francisco in The Message in the Haunted Mansion. Two more great mysteries followed with a snowy blizzard in Wisconsin #4 - Treasure in the Royal Tower and #5 - The Final Scene where Nancy sleuths around an old charming theatre house. I was not 'thrilled' with #6 - Scarlet Hand, it takes place in a museum and just seemed rather boring overall. #7 - The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake was my second favorite after Deception Island. AWESOME! #8 - The Haunted Carousel takes Nancy to a popular Amusement Park in New Jersey I believe. That one tops my list somewhere as well, there is just a really annoying talking robot throughout the game that will get on your nerves. Otherwise, that one is great fun! #10 - The Secret of Shadow Ranch was my third favorite as Nancy finds herself in the dry desert of Arizona. #11 - The Curse of Blackmoor Manor was an interesting entry in the series taking place in a New England mansion but yet not as exciting. #12 and #13 - The Secret of the Old Clock and The Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon were pretty good as well. Blue Moon Canyon is a bit claustrophobic at time seeing how you are on a narrow train. I have not played #14 and #15 yet which finds Nancy in both Paris and Hawaii.

Here are how I rate the games so far excluding #14 and #15 which I haven't played yet.

1. Danger on Deception Island
2. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
3. Secret of Shadow Ranch
4. The Haunted Carousel
5. Message in the Haunted Mansion
6. Treasure in the Royal Tower
7. The Final Scene
8. The Secret of the Old Clock
9. Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon
10. Curse of Blackmoor Manor
11. Secret of the Scarlet Hand
12. Stay Tuned for Danger
13. Secrets Can Kill

Just finished Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake and this mystery is terrific!!! I really enjoyed the puzzles and the challenge of solving them. Very ingenious using the dogs information to solve some of the puzzles. Can't wait for the next mystery. I have played all the games so far.

A five star museum.

The game Secret of the Scarlet Hand is a fabulous game! The museum setting is amazing. You learn about Myan history and art. It is such a fun setting. The characters are perfect for the game. You feel like you are in the museum. All of the Nancy Drew games are creative, fun and educational games. I can't help but play when my kids aren't watching. The problem is you don't want to stop until the mystery is solved. This is one of the greatest games yet, it even moves ahead of my favorite, Treasure in the Royal Tower. I can't wait to see where you will go in future games.

Entertaining for all!

My 7 year old daughter and I played this together. The graphics are great. The object is to find your kidnapped friend. There are two levels - junior or senior detective. We played as senior detectives. It was challenging at times, there were no clues at what to do next. I found myself searching the internet for clues (the manufacturer actually provides a bulletin board for the game if you get stuck). If you make a mistake, the game ends, but there is s second chance button you can use (more than once) to continue where you left off.
I found it hard to move where I wanted to go at times. The cursor has to be placed just so and it limits your view.
I liked the game, but I liked Message in the Haunted Mansion better. My daughter liked them both. With the internet help, our total play time was about 7-8 hours, and the time we spent was fun and entertaining.

it was great...best one yet!

Ghost dogs of moon lake was awesome. The setting of a spooky lake was a great idea, because there has never been a nancy drew game like that before. The game starts out with you in your friend's cabin trying to figyre out the mystery of why and how ghost dogs attack your friend's house at night. You experience this attack the first night you are there. In the game, you must do many tasks for people. Sometimes, you are doing 3 at once, and that can be overwhelming and frustrating. There is also a forest with a trail behind your house. Theres is a semetery way back at the end of it. Finding the semetery is very hard the first couple of times, and don't try to find it at night your first try. Walk the trail first in the day, because there are so many ways you can get lost, and you will slowly memorize the more times you walk it. Some things that are challenging in the game are: putting out a fire, getting to the keep easy, and more.Thegameis very challenging, so I recommend it for ages 11-16. IN THIS GAME YOU HAVE A PDA. LOOK AT IT VERY VERY OFTEN!!!!! Without your PDA, there is no way you could win the game. This game is very exciting, and i don't think i can think of any cons in it!Truly, this game is a pleasurable edition to the nancy drew computer game series. Keep making more!!

I worked this by myself, but ended up needing the help of my daughters (12, 10), and we had a GREAT time working on the mystery together ... with a cold winter, nothing like some shivers up your spine with a little mystery solving! It's one of those things, once you start, you can't put it down until you've solved the mystery. Excellent for puzzle-solving and a few shivers as well. Love it!

We love the Nancy Drew series and look forward to each new installment. We thoroughly enjoyed the Haunted Carousel but were very disappointed when we finished it in under four hours. It didn't seem to have nearly the depth of the others in the series.

Ok, Ok.... I am 50+ years old and I bought this game because I like to watch old Nancy Drew movies on TV. This is the first one of these games I have played.

The rules are very easy to understand so the game starts very quickly and moves along at a good pace. I am very poor at spatial relations so putting the books back into the drawer and assembling the broken pipes was just plain hard. I still don't have the books in. So there are spots that are just a pain and end up causing a lot of frustration. Why should I be stopped because I am bad at something such as putting books into the drawer?

But that doesn't matter at the moment. I have played the game off and on for several days and it is fun. The atmosphere is spooky, the noises are pretty good and the mystery is deep enough to hold your interest. I keep making dumb mistakes and getting killed off, but the game is kind enough to let you keep going with the second chance button. So you don't have to start over time after time.

I am certain true hard core game players will think the game is beneath them, but I just want to relax a bit and have some fun thinking about something other than work or responsibilities. This game fills the bill. Interesting and a challenge for me but not something I get all worked up over if I get stuck.

The game is filled with what I will call educational material. Whales, nautical terms, et al are built into the game in such a way that reading the information is interesting and part of the game play. A person can get a lot of just fun information about all kinds of subjects playing the game. I don't like to say it is an educational game because that doesn't seem to be the point. You learn this stuff to help you solve the mystery. I think the term educational turns people off. That shouldn't be the case here because the game play and the information are seamlessly tied together.

As I stumble along in the game, solving nothing really, I am having fun and as long as I can keep going and gathering clues I am a happy camper. I have ordered the $10.00 guide which should help me extend the game play. The on line help would be a lot better if I was as far along as those players. I get stuck so far down the line that no one even talks about the problems I am having. So I hope the game guide will help. As you can tell, I am generally bad at solving puzzles.

I would hope the game writers would put more help into the games themselves but I think they make a lot of money selling the game guides (no mystery there) so they just go ahead and stump people and then the game guide is a sure sell. I think it is a rip off but I guess that is life in the gaming world.

I noticed there are a LOT of these games. The series is actually very long. Thus, the games are selling and people like them. They are seldom reviewed on the PC gaming sites, so a person just has to take a chance and buy one to see if they like it. I think you will. Lots of fun.

One of the best in the series

Nancy Drew: Danger on Deception Island is a great game that provides a delightful experience for all ages.
Nancy is on vacation (isn't she always) on the San Juan Islands off Washington. There is an orphaned orca in the waters and some people appear to have been feeding it. There have been robberies at some stores in Snake Horse Harbor, the city you are staying in. You also soon find out that a so-called nutcase named Hilda Swenson might just not be a wacko after all.
During this game you will meet four characters: Katie Firestone, the person you are staying with, Jenna Deblin, the owner of the Hot Kettle Cafe, Holt Scotto, who is running for harbormaster, and Andy Jason, who owns Whale World and may have another secret. The plot is very intricate in this game and I love the whole Hilda subplot. Plus, this game also has a more outdoorsy feeling than the others because you can go kyaking, use your bike, go walking underground...oops.
Danger on Deception Island is a terrific game and you should buy it NOW NOW NOW!
