bad packaging

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 22

I read a review by an amazon customer that was bad because their disks cracked upon removal. Because I read this review, I was very careful to remove the disks, but I can fully understand the girl's concern that described "discs cracked" on her review at Amazon. The packaging is such that unless you push a knifeblade firmly into the center of the package, you will likely crack the disk. Her Interactive should be drawn and quartered for this packaging. I can understand that little girls eager to remove the disk would push down in the center with their fingers and probably crack the disks. A shame for a product that has never had this problem before, and a good product at that!

Love all of these. Totally hooked. Some are kind of scary so maybe 10 and up for kids.

I don't know what it is about this game, but I just love it.
The characters are great, and it is just overall, a fun game. Many unique puzzles, help this game reign supreme!

Good nancy drew game. Had much fun playing it. As usual, have your walkthrough ready. The story was good, just don't be excited for a cool reason Minette wears a mask.

Good and Addicting

JUst wanted to say that I bought this as a gift for my sister. She requested it because she loves these kind of games. It's like being an investigator, trying to figure out every little detail. She is 15 years old and got addicted. I dropped it off with her on a Thursday and by Saturday morning I had a message on my phone from her that said she had beat the game. She spent a lot of time and effort on it but now the fun is over. I say it's probably a great purchase but don't do it all in one sitting. Take your time and enjoy the game. I would also recommend the other games Nancy Drew has to offer. Thanks and happy purchasing!

Not as fun as most of the ND games

My daughter and I love and anticipate all the Nancy Drew games, and this is by far our least favorite. The puzzles are really ridiculous or really easy. Nothing really seems to flow very well, it's all very choppy and separate from one another. We did enjoy the France backdrop though!

Doesn't Stack up to Others

I am a HUGE fan of the Nancy Drew game series and have played about 6 or 7 of them already. Danger by Design was one of my least favorites. Although the scenery is nice and it shows alot of Paris, there is little to do at all of the locations and the tasks seem to get repetitive. After talking to the characters a few times they had little to say and there was not alot of interaction with them. There were much much less puzzles and clues to gather as there are in other ND games. Most of the game time is spent doing silly tasks like baking cookies and fixing a copy machine. And when there was a real puzzle to do it was very difficult to solve and the solutions were not something someone would have logically come up with. The plot was choppy and there were two angles to the story that had absolutely nothing to do with one another. I finished the entire game in one afternoon and the ending was lame, no excitement at all. This might me a better game for a much younger group because the tasks are easy and there are no real scary parts as there are in many of the ND games. Overall I give this game a 3 because it still had some good aspects and I love the ND series. This one goes in with the category of Kapu Cave, not horrible, but not the best.

Nancy Drew CD mystery game

I bought this CD for my two grandchildren for Christmas. They have all the other Nancy Drew CD's that are out and really enjoy playing them. They are a good interactive game to challenge their minds. I am sure this one will too.

The game itself was okay, the ending was HORRIBLE!

This game was a bit disapointing, compared to all the other Nancy Drew games. I know that HerInteractive always likes to include some sort of history in their games, but the way they put history into this game was totally unrelated to the original mystery. Once the prospect of hidden artwork from WW2 came into the picture, the mystery behind Minette was basically forgotten. Just seconds after Nancy solved the 'history-mystery', the REAL mystery came back in full swing, knocking me off my feet, only to disapoint me yet again. The reason behind Minette wearing the mask was so dumb and incredibly lame that sometimes I wonder if I dreamed it all up, and that I never really finished the game. Unlike other ND games, there really was no 'culprit', unless you count Minette, and a person that you only hear from once throughout the entire game. One of my favorite parts in a Nancy Drew game is interacting with suspects, and you could hardly ever do that in this game. You could hardly say anything to anyone.
This was the first game I played where you handled money, and I got terribly bored after a while. There were many, many things you had to buy in this game in order to sucseed, yet only one way to make money. Painting pictures. I felt like I was playing 'Madeline's Thinking Games' all over again.
Don't get me wrong, the puzzles in this game were very good, and so were the graphics, but the ending got me sooo disapointed. It was just one of those games where you think, "How is this going to help me solve the mystery?" before realizing that you left Minette's mystery in the dust long ago, and you're now trying to find hidden artwork.
Overall, I was pretty disapointed with this game. The game setup was good, and I liked how the ending varied on whether you did or did not get this paticular person fired, and the puzzles were spectacular, but other than that? This game totally flopped, especially the ending. There was totally no way you could've predicted what the ending was going to be, unless you have ESP. If you're a person out there looking for QUALITY Nancy Drew games, I don't reccomend this one.

Not the Best, But Fun

As with all the Nancy Drew Games, I really liked this game, but I thought it was not as interesting and original as some of the other ND games. For example, a few times throughout Danger by Design, I thought it was similiar to "Danger on Deception Island". Maybe it was the water, maybe it was the "secret passages", but Danger By Design really reminded me of previous games. (By the way, I LOVED how references were made to "Secret of the Scarlet Hand". I think it's really funny!) Another disappointment was the fashion. Yes, you get to "put together" one outfit, but that's pretty much all the interaction with fashion that you get!(I loved the outfits though. They were SO funny!) As an in tern to a famous fashion designer, you think you would get to do more things to do with fashion! The cover of the CD case says "Go undercover in Paris and unravel a case in style!" This makes it seem like you should actually have something to do with style. Also, the ending was TOTALLY unrelated to anything, but it was actually very funny, so that's OK.

Now onto the good stuff! Contrary to what many people seem to think, I LOVED the ending with the culprit! It is VERY original, and different, and I think that while it seems a little unrealistic, it's fun, so who cares? Also, the reason Minnette wore a mask is funny, and personally I'm glad it wasn't for a gross reason! I was a LITTLE sad by why Minnette was acting so strangely (not because it was a "bad" reason, actually I liked the reason) but because... well... I like her! If I say anything else I'll give the ending away, so that's it! Also, I liked all the characters, and the animation was really good! I wish you could interact a little more with the characters, but there's plenty to do! I like how you bake cookies and make tea, and, as always, Bess and George are very funny. On the bad side, this game is relatively short, but it's not tedious, which is what makes some of the games (like "The Curse of Blackmoor Manor") long. You can tell that the game is about to end soon, it's very obvious, I don't know if that's bad or good, you decide. I also liked how you have money, and a chance to earn money, and how you can buy stuff!!! You can also go swimming, but make sure you come up for air! :) There is a "history mystery" as well, which is actually more of what you try to solve, but it is interesting, so even if you don't like history (I don't especially), you won't be bored. Oh, and if you don't like fashion, don't worry, there's not much in this game! (As I said, I was a little disappointed by this.) One of the other things I liked about this game is that in the beginning, you see Nancy's bedroom (and her teddy bear!) and the game doesn't begin or end with a letter, but the end is kind of like a letter to yourself. I like the letters, but I also like this original way of introducing and ending the game.

Overall, I'd say that this game is pretty easy, but not TOO easy. This game is good for beginners, but no matter what level you are you will probably enjoy "Danger by Design". On a scale of 1-10, I'd say the difficulty level is 4-6, depending on how good you are at Nancy Drew.

One final thing. While this game is not Her Interactive's best, it's still a fun, fast(ish) moving game and worth your money!
