Bonjour, Paris

It took so long for this to come out...I hated the little hints they gave us hardcore NDers on the Dare to Play message board. I had extremely high hopes for this game--I adored Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon and waited AGES for this game.

Now, besides the absurd level of difficulty in this game [it was seemingly VERY hard in my eyes--I could not make it the first time through without the assistance of a walkthrough], I LOVED it. The flight to Paris and the travel about the city--it was also a LOT easier to make money in this game than in Secret of the Old Clock.

I did not like how hard the puzzles were, but all in all it was an amazing game. There was a lot of talking, and that can really slow down gameplay and frustrate a gamer. And puzzles like the darkroom, the paintbomb and the cookies were absurdly difficult. But otherwise it was worth it.

Good but not as good as older games

My 14 yr old daughter was able to finish the game rather quickly. It didn't have as many twists as some of the older Nancy Drew games. She didn't find it quite as exciting as some of them but she liked it much better than "The Creature of Kapu Cave".

It's not THAT bad...

Everyone doesn't like this game for some reason(someone even called it "a lame French game"), but I disagree. The graphics are spectacular, the music is fitting, and it the plot is suspenseful. I suggest that you buy it, because it's worth the money!Plus, the ending is kinda funny. This game is not that bad,so buy it and see for yourself!

Superb, just like the rest!

As with all Nancy Drew games, this one is refreshing, fun and all-around wholesome entertainment. Each Nancy Drew game offers up something different; it'd be super boring and SO predictable if each one was exactly alike. Great graphics, humorous scenes and stuff to make your brain actually THINK instead of go numb are included in every game. So, DEFinitely go out and buy this game--all the other ones, too!! You'll be so glad you did!

this was by far the worst nancy drew game yet. story does not flow and at times makes no sense at all. her interactive used items that were used in other games which was weird. not a great game. graphics great but that is all. very disappointing considering how long we all had to wait for this game.

Mystery: Why is Minnette acting so strangely? Why is she having temper tantrums and so far behind on her work? Also- a "history mystery" about a French resistence fighter.

Pros:
*Great graphic quality
*You use the Metro to get around and are not limited to one place
*Original and unique ending
*Not to hard, but not extremley easy
*User-friendly
*Helpful Hints and Tips
*Different personalities
*The game changes slightly depending on what you do or say
*Many things to do
*You earn and spend money
*You get a peek at Nancy's bedroom, the game doesn't end or begin with a letter

Cons:
*Early on in the game, you get diverted from the original mystery and don't work on it much except for the end
*You have to run a lot of errands
*Some points of the mystery are not cleared up
*Only one character is actually French, and you're in France!
*Not much fashion, you would never know you're working for a fashion designer
*Pretty short time to solve the mystery
*Unclear mystery

Game is fun and challenging

Nancy Drew Games are Fun

I enjoy adventure games, but I enjoy Nancy Drew and Harry Potter adventure games the most and I can enjoy them with my kids, too. I have played ALL of the ND games and this is not one of my favorite ones, but enjoyed it very much still. My favorites include Danger on Deception Island and The Scarlet Hand because I like the museum learning aspects. Danger by Design could have had some great museums, but too bad it doesn't.

PROS:
- Takes place in Paris
- Paris Metro map (as I recall) is fairly accurate
- Puzzles were fun and not too tedious or difficult
- A little french language included
- The history is interesting
- Earning money and shopping
- Minnette's workshop is interesting - windmill
- Not having to set an alarm clock to do particular activities
- Interface and graphics in general are good

CONS:
- Would have enjoyed a few more puzzles - make game last longer
- Would have enjoyed more french themed puzzles / interaction
- Would have enjoyed more fashion
- Would have enjoyed more Paris scenes
- Not enough interaction with other characters
- Needed more options for earning money (same 2 got boring)

Looking forward to the next installment in October!

We enjoyed this game, but it did have a few places that were very challenging, and we had to go to the message board and the internet for hints on how to solve them. It was as good or better than any of the other games, and we have played them all. The graphics just get better and better with each game. We are diehard Nancy Drew fans...my daughter is eighteen, and I am 43, and we still look forward to every new game.

Not the best of Nancy Drew, but still a winner!

I agree with other reviewers that the new packaging is flawed. I broke the disc to Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, so we are very careful with Danger by Design. I think this game would have been improved by sharing a little more Paris scenery. However, three of my grandchildren (ages 9 - 12) have played it and loved it. I have all 14 of the Nancy Drew adventures and we have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The graphics are good, the puzzles are just difficult enough without being totally frustrating, and the ease of use is perfect. I especially appreciate that the game is easy to save at every point of play, making it easy for the kids to sign off the computer when their time is up. Some Nancy Drew adventures are better than others, but you can't go wrong with any of them.
