Very disappointing

A dull, tedious, task oriented game. We've played and enjoyed all of the other Nancy Drew games, but I think this was one of the weakest to date. I know I'm echoing some of the other posters, but I think they are worth repeating. (Actung, Herinteractive!) The graphics are very good, but Paris is utterly wasted. The game could just as well have been set in Nebraska. There wasn't much adventure, hardly any suspense, poor character development, and a disjointed story. Many of the puzzles were just re-hashes from other games. Seemed like a real lazy effort all around.

Anyone new to the series would do well to start with some of the earlier games. We especially liked Haunted Mansion, Deception Island, and 11 year old strongly recommends Stay Tuned for Danger. (Bring back the scary games, please!)

As others have said, we also had some problems with the discs. They loaded okay for us, but some sticky material on one of the discs had to be cleaned off first. There were also some strange marks that looked like water stains on one of the discs.

Boooooorrrring!!!!

I love the Nancy Drew games, but Danger by Design stinks! I hope this isn't a sign that the series is going downhill. After finishing Danger by Design (and being thoroughly bored by the tedious, annoying, pointless puzzles that have nothing to do with Paris and little to do with fashion) I replayed Secret of the Old Clock. Even though Clock wasn't my all-time favorite, it was soooooo much better than Danger by Design. Let's hope the next installment gets back on track!

This game is Great!! (Few Problems though)

I received this game about a week ago, I had a few quarks when installing it but finally got it up and running correctly. I did however manage to break Disc 2 when removing it from it's case, I'll admit I was excited and I pulled it out by the edges without pressing the little "Press here" button like they have listed on their website. I called Her Interactive, and spoke to a gentleman in Tech Support who was very nice and helpful - he sent me a new disc free of charge! I wish all companies could be this helpful when it comes to this type of stuff.

Nancy Drew Returns!

I really liked this game, excellent graphics(as in most of the ND games), and sense of adventure! Exploring the catacombs was cool and the new twists to this game. A little different from other ND games, but still good. However, my only complaint was not elaborating about the other characters at the end. Puzzles were challenging, one of the most challenging ND games. It was definately an improvement to the last ND game Last Train to BLue Moon Canyon

Plot is ridiculous, but a good brain workout!

This game had a ridiculous plot, and a lame ending, but it did make me think.

I purchased this game for my daughter and finished it ahead of her so I could help her when she got stuck. For a couple of the puzzles I had to read a walk through (The Metro one I never did understand). The graphics are very good, and some of the characters are funny, but this is definitely NOT my favorite game.

My daughter (11) thinks this game is just OK, she liked Deception Island much better and she got kind of frustrated with a couple of puzzles (the squirrel confused her), but she was glad she got it.

I would recommend this game, but I would also suggest having a cheat-sheet or walk through handy before you tear your hair out!

YAY!

I absolutely loved this game! So much funner than the other one's I've played. Although, I wished we did more sleuthing and less stuff for famous fashion designer Minette. I guess this is because you're UNDER COVER. the ending is a huge surprise! (don't forget to look at EVERYTHING YOU CAN)

OMG I LOVE this game! At first, I couldn't find it ANYWHERE! But then, I found it at Best Buy and bought it immediately. The story line is super good, and the copy I got came with the strategy guide. The ending is kinda creepy at first, because of, well, I shouldn't say, but it's just my feeling. I think you should totally buy this game. It even has a bunch of references from past Nancy Drew Games like Prudance Rutheford from SSH(Secret of the Scarlet Hand)! So awesome!

Danger by Design: Fun but LONG

I am almost 13 years old and i have played some of the ND games. In my opinion, this game was one of the longest I have played. I have only played four of them, Message a Haunted Mansion, this one, Treasure in the Royal Tower, and the Final Scene.

In this mystery, you have to make many trips back and fourth. When you first start, there are many names you need to remember or things become very difficult. Although it was long, I had a lot of fun. There are many puzzles and games. You even get to disarm a bomb.

The end of the mystery has a big twist that shocked me. So if you have the time to play this one, I would recommend it. But if u don't, you will have a difficult time.

One of the worst ND games

I've played every one of these games besides Secrets Can Kill (and I haven't finished Secret of the Scarlet Hand yet, but that one is very boring). Danger by Design is one of the worst ones.

The mystery is very unclear--and I couldn't understand how a "culprit" could be involved, because the "Mystery" was to figure out why Minette was hiding behind a mask. I didn't particularly enjoy the graphics, either--they looked too smooth and light. In my opinion the graphics were at their best in Secret of Shadow Ranch/Curse of Blackmoor Manor. Her Interactive overdid them in this game.

I did enjoy one character, JJ Ling. Too bad we couldn't talk to her much. There is not a lot of character interaction at all, and most of the characters are poorly developed--for example, Dieter von Schwesterkrank and Jean whatever his name is. Minette was simply annoying.

The ending was terrible, by far the worst ending. It was totally unrealistic and stupid. Not to mention slow-paced.

The puzzles were one thing I liked. They were hard to figure out, but not extremely hard. I also enjoyed haggling with the sellers in Pont Neuf. Ordering food at the hotel, and taking the metro was also fun.

All in all, not recommended. If you want a GOOD Nancy Drew game, I'd suggest: Message in a Haunted Mansion, Treasure in a Royal Tower, Danger On Deception Island, and Secret Of Shadow Ranch.
