great for kids - not that different from 7, etc.

Like most nintendo games, mario party 8 doesn't change much from 7, except the wii-i-fying aspect, which was enough to make my kids excited about it. At this point, anything 'for the Wii' is a hit around here, even if it's not that different than other versions.

A Great Game

In my opinion, Mario Party 8 is fun, exciting game that many persons will have hours of enjoyment of playing. I just bought my Nintendo Wii about a week ago and I bought this game along with Zelda Twilight Princess. Honestly in my opinion, this system is the best of the three. It may only allow 480p HD, but if you wanted 1080p get the PS3 or the Xbox 360. I'm currently 18 years of age, and most of my friends don't even have HD televisions. If all people are concerned about is internet play and HD ability, get a life. I remember playing the first Mario Party and it didn't have HD or internet hook up. Honestly how clear does on really need the picture to be? If one loves any of the Mario Party games, one is sure to love this one too.

It is your typical Mario Party, but with a the Wii's motion combined with the mini games. My favortie is the stings where you have to cut a string and hope it dosent send you flying.

The game is fun for all ages and great to play with friends. Its a modified board game brought to life, due enjoy.

We have all the Mario Party games and this is the best. We are working out and having fun play the game also. I just wish it came with an extra controller.

Pretty fun, but pretty shallow

I have to admit that I played this almost exclusively in single-player mode in the Star arena. I was a little surprised to 'solve it' and get the credits in my first sitting. That was a bit disappointing, but it's fun to replay it.

I wish there were more variety in the characters' actions and dialogs. More boards (only 6) would help, too. Game transitions sometimes take too long and are almost always exactly the same animation each time. Often the biggest hurdle with the mini-games is getting the controller to work as expected (the pouring mini-game where you pour sand on a scale is an example of this). I've never lost a board to the computer, maybe I've just been lucky? Oh, and lastly, it's true that most of the game is 4:3 even if you have a 16:9 display, but it honestly hasn't bothered me that much.

On the up-side, it is one of the better Wii games out right now (not many decent ones out right now, though). And, it has some replay value to it, although I'm getting burnt out on the repeating sound effects and dialog. I've had the game for a week (and haven't spent a ton playing it) so I give it 3 stars for being so easily solved and repetitive.

If you're interested mostly in single player action, get Super Paper Mario first.

Just like the 7 before...

I bought this game for my niece and three nephews... it looked very cute, however, it's exactly the SAME game as the 7 Mario Partys before it. I guess it's difficult to come up with new and innovative ideas when you're on your 8th game based on the same theme. Oh well... I'm still a fan of Nintendo games! Besides, it makes the kids happy.

If you want a game thats more than one player...this is your game

This game is so perfect. I play it with my sibilings all the time and it really is just full of surprises. Dont get me wrong, its perfect for a one player as well. I have the gamecube version and this wii game is totally updated. The board games just go so much faster and there are more players to choose from. For smaller games such as tic tac toe (that you play with minigames) you can even use your mii to play them. Overall i love it and its definitely a great game.

Mario Party 8 is a true disappointment. It wasn't any different than the other Mario Party games. I actually like the older ones beter! The single player board game mode is boring. I felt like I was waiting way too long for a minigame, especially a decent one. The game tortures you by making you go through this boring mode to unlock minigames, and I just didn't have the paitence to do that. Most of the minigames are fun, but the ones that aren't are just too plain and original. Some of them can get pretty frusturating though. My favorite is the snowboarding game. There is no story to this game at all. I know the story doesn't matter a whole lot, but come on, a game without a story? Peach doesn't even get captured.
However, there are some positives to this game. The boards were very detailed and creative, which is a big improvement. This game is pretty fun in multiplayer mode.
If you have no one to play this game with, don't even think about buying this. If you invite friends over to play Wii games, you may want to think about getting this, but your friends will get bored of your "party" in about 25 minutes. Overall, this game gets a 2 and 1/2 stars. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this game.

This game is fun for the whole family. Our older kids are aged 4,6,9 and this game is fun for all including mom and dad when we play with them. The multi levels of play and the new games that become available keep it interesting for everyone. This is definitely one of the better games that we have bought!

Me, my seven year old son, my husband and my grandmother all have a blast playing this game together!! This has replaced our weekly game board night. The mini games are great. The controls are awesome. There are games that are simple enough for granny and my son yet challenging to me and my husband. My only small complaint is that there could be more mini games available. However we have only played in the party tent.
Young or old, extreme gamer or casual player, awesome game.
