Fun only if you have 4 people playing this at all times

Wii is all about party games. Was so excited to get this game, bought 2 extra remotes & numchuks just for this. I invited some friends over for a get together the day this game arrived. We had a blast that day. Thought the mini games are mostly a bit too short / too easy, the unique boards made up for it. (I'm in the 30's and been a gamer since 20 yrs ago, that's why these minigames are a bit too simple IMHO)

The next day after friends left, me & my wife wanted to play some more. That's when we realized the game is really kinda boring and slow if only the 2 of us are playing. Also, don't think any of the mini-games uses the numchuks, so basically wasted the $40. So unless you constantly have 4 people playing this, I can't recommend it. For 2 player or single player, Rayman Rabbits has far better Mini-Games.

Excellent game

The only reason why it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that you have to repeatedly press 'A' over and over again to get past multiple redundant menus and prompts. Otherwise the games are excellent and fun throughout. The new boards have a range from kiddie to challenging which I think is great.

Not a brilliant game, but worth the money

I got Mario Party 8 because the previous installments in the series have been fairly good, and because my kid sister loves them. Nintendo did a good job of adapting Mario Party for the Wii, making it as much fun as its predecessors and at the same time making the controls simple enough for anybody. Even my mother enjoys this game, which is a big deal because her previous attempts at playing video games have all ended rather badly.
Pros:
-Accessible to most people, whether they are video game adepts or not
-The team names the game assigns to different pairs of players are amusing
-The graphics are decent enough to not detract from the game
-Unlockable characters give you a reason (sort of) to play single player
-The minigames have enough variety that they don't get lame really fast
-Some minigames are skill-based and some are dumb luck, so anybody can win
Cons:
-More game maps would have been nice
-Battle minigames only seem to be worth 5 coins a player
-Like in all Mario Party games, the computer players seem to be able to get amazing dice rolls when they get in a tight spot
All in all, this game was definitely worth the money. It's simple fun, and a great thing to play when I need to take a break from Resident Evil 4.

Surprisingly fun...

As annoying as this game is, it's really a lot of fun! I played it with a few people at first and thought it was pretty entertaining, but after playing Mario Party by myself and enjoying it I knew it was a good game. I would recommend this game to everyone that enjoys fun.

Great party game.

It's obvious that this is a game geared towards gamers under 15. (Hey, it's Mario and is a little cheesy...) However, there are 75 plus mini games, lots of variability on what context to play them, and can be a lot of fun with 3 or more of your friends. The puzzle boards are inventive and fun to interact with. You can also simply pick and choose what mini-games to play and keep on playing until you get tired of them without the assistance of the puzzle boards. There are also other variations such as mini-games using tic-tac-toe, first to 7, free play, or blocks. One player star battles can be fun also, but time consuming.

If only I could be as cool as this plumber

First I want the record to show that I've never played any of the other Mario Party games. I had heard about the others and from what I heard they were great fun and I was looking forward to this one as it was on the Wii.

This game is fun but it grows old way to fast. The thing that has caused me to get sick of the game is all of the cut scenes you have to sit through while playing the game. As much fun as it might be to play every time you take your turn you have to watch the little cut scenes as your character takes all the actions and then (if your playing the computer) you have to watch all of the computers scenes. This is definitely entertaining the first few times but then it just bores you and holds up the game.

Another thing I was saddened by was the fact that there is so little to actually do in the games. I thought there would be a ton of different games on here but it was just a variation of the same thing and you can only play the same exact game so many times before you've managed to experience every different variation.

All in all this game is really fun in a group setting and ok for limited single player gaming.

One of the Best for Kids

If you have kids, this game is great. I have kids 8, 5, and 3. All of them are able to participate. Not all of the games are easy for the kids, but we as a family help them out. I am really impressed with the large number of mini-games. I don't think that we have played them all yet. As parents we also play it together after the kids go to sleep. Thumbs up all around.

Having way too much fun for an adult.....

This game is hands-down the funnest game (is funnest a word?) I have played on the wii to date. I had some friends and THEIR KIDS over, and we all played. We spanned an age range of 8 or 9 years old to 45+... and we all loved this game. There are some REALLY well done mini games that take great advantage of the wiimote. For instance, you should have seen all 4 of us using the wiimote to balance our characters as they raced across a tight rope traversing a ravine... then when I literally pushed one of my friends and saw his character fall... I cant put my glee into words! Do yourself a favor and buy this game. Great party game. Also, playing by yourself is worth the effort as you can unlock additional party games!

Excellent game for a group.

First I have to say that I am a big fan of this game. I really think that the mini-games work well with the Wiimote. With that said I have to state that I find when playing just against the machine it can almost feel like it is cheating sometimes. I know that when a player gets to a certain point where it is close to winning they have the feature that helps the other player out but when it is a duel it can feel very unfair. When you are playing with 3-4 people it is not as bad since there is some balance. Overall I think that the game is a blast and even though some of the levels seem more like luck at times then others it is worth the buy. Especially if you have younger kids since a group can play together.

I do have to say that the bowling mini-game I wish was more like the Wii Sports version when it comes to controls.
