Excite Truck is a fast paced racing game that is fun for even those who are NOT hardcore racing game fans. I don't enjoy racing much but find myself addicted to this title. The many things you're able to do to influence your final score -- jump, runs through the trees, smashing into other trucks -- make this game very worthwhile and an awful lot of fun.
Audience: Again, this may not be for hardcore racing fans. For nearly everyone else, though, the action is great. The gamers and non-gamers alike in my family have enjoyed the versus mode racing.
Graphics: Great for the Wii. No complaints here--the scenery is great and even looks pretty good when you're flying by at a zillion MPH.
Gameplay: You win or lose a race based on the number of stars you collect in the course. You get stars for winning, of course, but also for other things like running through trees and catching a lot of air on jumps. The single player mode is a lot of fun, though I wish there was more to it than just "get X amount of stars on every race." That's not exactly something that will get me drawn into a single player mode. Multiplayer is 2 players only but is quite a bit of fun, though the fact that there are no NPC racers is a drawback.
Control: Control is pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but tilting the Wiimote to steer is not something that comes intuitively for most people used to other consoles. Still, the control is great and a racing wheel makes it even more fun.
Challenge: The challenge is there, but I'm not sure it's what I would like to see. Instead of new objectives to complete you just do the same objectives you've already done and try to get a higher star count.
Concerns: A couple of things I think could be better on this game. First would be a season or career type mode--anything to liven up the single player racing aside from just unlocking new trucks. I also can't fathom why this isn't a 4 player game--that would have been a great feature rather than just leaving it a 2 person vs game.
Overall this is a great game. The courses are fun, the racing is a blast, and the multiplayer action, while not perfect, is enjoyable. The single player mode may not have a lot of staying power but the multiplayer should.

Excite Truck, an overlooked launch title, is sliding through your living room! This game is bucket and buckets of fun to play with your friends and neighbors, as well as it is CRAZY fun steering the truck with the new controls. My Dad swore off of video-games until he played this with me and had a blast! The single player is fun, trying to collect the appropreaite amount of stars my pulling off made stunts while racing. Yet the most fun is had in crashing into your firends in multiplayer! Although it is only a two-player game, its fun to explore short-cuts and try to make the sickest crashes! Another cool feature is loading your sd card with music, and make them play during the race instead of the extreme guitar riffs!

This game has been severly overshadowed by nintendo's OTHER launch title. It is a sad thing but, if your reading this, please listen: this game is OODLES of fun. OODLES. I don't think I've used the word oodles for years but oodles seems to get the point across. Right off the bat, I'll tell you that the game is pretty bare bones, offering only a few different game modes and slowed down two player mode. But even with such slim pickings, the game delivers quite a fun experience, mostly found in the sense of speed the game provides. At first, the game comes off as pretty shallow, as getting into it is fairly easy, despite getting used to ACTUALLY tilting the controller to move. But the more you play, the more you'll find depth. You'll unlock TONS of cars, all of which handle differently, allowing you to find the right fit. Getting that all important speed boost not only improves your time, but also give you more style points, which allow you to achive the best rankings. The games pushes you to get the best time AND get loads of styles point, giving you quite a chalange. The only thing missing from the game is a true multiplayer expirience. Usually, this is not a big factor for me, but Excite truck is so much fun with others, it's a shame Nintendo didn't push an online feature for this title. If Excite Truck 2 ever comes, you'll see why I'm pining for the online mode after you try this game. Highly Reccomended.
Fun for a while, but definitely not deep

This game plays well for the first few hours, but after a while, you may get bored simply because the only incentive for you to keep playing is to unlock new trucks and courses. There is no story or career mode, although it keeps a small number of stats for you. The long-term appeal of this game does not exist since there is no online play. Two-player mode gets boring as well since there are only two cars and no CPU bots. I recommend as a rental first.

There is nothing in the world like putting a game into your system and forgetting about everything else. Excite Truck is one such game. You don't have time to do anything except for react.
I have gotten bored with racing games as of late and wanted to try something different. This was just the thing. You can choose from an assortment of tracks, trucks, and tricks. When you lose a race instead of getting frustrated, you are rewarded with all of the things that you did right, i.e. smashing other trucks, hang time, etc. So playing the same track over numerous times is rewarding.
The gameplay is fantastic. It seems very natural in design, because all that you do is tilt your controller one way or another, which in most cases when playing racing games you're doing anyways. The control scheme is easily accessible and rewarding.
The game itself is divided into tracks which cover all sorts of terrain and weather conditions which add to the appeal with some diversity. It's nice because even if you crash (which you will numerous times), you're not out of the race, because there are numerous opportunities to make up ground.
This game is highly satisfying from a purely unadultered wannahavefun standpoint. It's easy to pick up and hard to put down, and that's saying a lot.

I also own an XBox and the Burnout series are the only racing games I've wanted to play repeatedly. Midnight and Midtown were OK, hated Project Gotham, Colin McRae, and Rallisport. I am a pedal-2-the-metal kind of driver and perfecting that perfect S turn just isn't my bag.
Then came along Wii and Excite Truck. It offers some very fun and unique playing features that I love. No need to practice hours on end to place high at the finish line or to unlock things. Some of the maneuvers do take a little practice but even if you don't, there's other ways to score. The biggest problem I had to overcome was oversteering. The Wii remote is sensitive where a scratch of the nose could put you in a tailspin and crash into the tree, in a fun kind of way.
I enjoy the pace of the races and the different obstacles/terrains. If you chuckle, giggle, or harumph soda out of your nose when your truck goes flying off the cliff, then this game is for you.

Exite Truck is a typical arcade style racer with tons of unlockables, awesome trucks, and great tracks. The graphics are also one of the best for the Wii. If you ever feel like having some good fun, play this for a while and you'll be satisfied. So basically what im saying is... GIVE US A SEQUAL NINTENDO!!!

The game is mildy amusing in single player mode but the novelty really wears off after a few hours. The gameplay is just not engaging enough to keep you coming back for more. Where this game horribly falls down is in mutiplayer or "versus" mode. First, you are locked in side by side mode and the view feels very cramped from right to left. There should have been an option to change to a stacked view. It's like trying to drive without peripheral vision. It wasn't like I was trying this on a TV that was too small either (61 inches). Second, there are no other cars out there competing except for you and the person you are racing against. With the huge jumps and turboing off into the woods, that pretty much means you'll see your opponent about 2 or 3 times a race. It feels like a time trial on a screen that's cut in half. To sum it up, the game is fun for a day and multiplayer is worthless. Without replay value and the ability to enjoy the game with friends, I feel my money certainly could have been invested better. Caveat emptor.

For parents looking for games for their kids, this one is better to rent before purchasing. I noticed others have posted good ratings for this game. My teenagers and all their friends did not like this game and they do not play it.

Playstation graphics are better. You turn the Wii side to side for steering. I personally found the turning too sensitive and the turbo boost confusing. The turbo boost work against the steering.
The game is fun to play against another friend. The courses are challenging and the competitiveness inherit in the game makes it fun. The game is emercive and the background archade like. Crashes don't consume unreasonable amounts of time. The Wii has no tactile feedback which would be a nice future feature. Single person view would be cool, but is not available in the game. The turbo boost will explode the engine if the usage hits red line. The game is good for numerous hours of play and competition.
A futuristic possible could be remote RC toys using wifi video, real world navigation using wii devices, and RC toys traversing a real world terrain. A perfect combination of virtual interfacing with real world devices in a gamelike environment. Excite has a 1990s arcade feel, instead of a real world situational experience.
