This is the best RPG I've ever played, period. The story is what makes it so great. It's like to read an AD&D book and be able to interact with the characters.
Excellent game, but......

Although the story is very nicely done and all, the game just gets boring about halfway through. At least for me it did. The quasi realtime battle system isn't that fun. It's basically realtime turn based, so even though you can still move around the enemy and all that, you basically just "tell" your character to "Go kill that", or "Cast this on him" and that's about it.
Good story, bad gameplay.

I got a PS2 the day it came out. There was a lot of games but I had to leave quickly so I just grabbed the most interesting looking box. I found "Summoner" and I thought, woah, this game is gonna be amazing! I popped it in, and let a rip. Before I knew it I was bored out of mind! This game is no way up to the PS2s standards and it gets kind of repetitive. I like the story and the sub-quests, but I just couldn't get into it. Bottom line, I should've got SSX.
This game is da bomb.

I really thiknk this game is good. It has many cool features such as:you can rotate the camera 380*, you have nearly endless gameplay, the fighting scenes are awesome. This is a very cool game and I highly reccomend it.

Well i just go my sony 2, and the summoner is the best and well known rpg so far. So i rented it.It seems to be pretty fun, but has less replay value then others like orphen. Other than that i love the game!(Only played for a few days no memory card also)
An excellent RPG

I love this game. The very beginning was a little slow, and the fighting system takes some getting used to, but the story is absolutely amazing. Just when you think you are going to beat the game, think again. The plot turns keep the game very interesting. I haven't been "addicted" to a game for awhile, but Summoner changed that for me.
If you dont love RPGs, this may not be the game for you, however. But if you love RPGs, pick this game up.
This is definitely worth it

This game was a present, and at first, I let it sit in the closet while I stormed through my old favorite, Gauntlet Dark Legacy (still up there on the favorites list). After a while, my dad told me that after doing some research, I would really like this game. He was very right. At first, I tried and failed. Summoning some patience, I tried again a month later.
The graphics could have been a little smoother (they were still unbelievable), but it is the gameplay that kept me hooked. Right from the start, the style and story got me adicted, and the fighting kept me excited. As soon as you give the game a chance, it is very fun. After beating it, I realized that I had completed very little of the side quests, so I'm now playing it again, trying to complete every part of the game.
The only bad parts about this game (I think) are the random encounters. When travelling on the world map (which I liked the idea of) you are often anxious to get to your destination. When the place is in view, and the screen says suddenly RANDOM ENCOUNTER! You feel like kicking in the screen. Otherwise, it is a must have game for anyone who likes a creative storyline, and great all around play.
an all around good game

The summoner is a good game with horrible graphics and a cool battle system.
Graphics:5/10. The graphics are pretty ... [bad] but people forget that this IS a RPG. The graphics aren't exactly going to be devil may cry.
Sound:5/10. There's extremely little voice acting and everything else is just average.
Control:8/10. Nice, easy controls.
Story:6/10: An average story. Nothing special nothing bad.
Cinames:4/10: Suuuurrrreeeee.....
replay:5/10. I suppose.
Characters:4/10. The main character (joseph) Looks like he just got kicked out of the holocaust
Overall fun:8/10. despite all the horrible things I said about it, the summoner has a new, original battleing system and a simple leveling up system.
Wonderful

I loved Summoner. It has a great plot, and lots of options. There are a few too many side-missions, but I like that. The graphics are a bit blocky, but that makes it look better. Don't know why all the other people are griping, this game is great.
