FUN AND SCARY...

This game is a very fun game. I love to play it when friends come over and at night, by myself, with the lights off. The game can get very scary. The graphics are very good, some of the best on ps2 and the sound is amazing. I recommend trying this game out.

This is the best game I've ever played. I love the ambient soud and the dark moody atmosphere. I think The characters were the most complex of any game I've ever seen. This game goes far deeper then most people think. But don't buy it if you are not capable of very complex thought. It does give you the whole answers of all the questions it puts up. But you have to look hard for them and play it over and over to really get it.

But the plot isn't the only reason to play it. It is scary as ... But this isn't the pop out and say "boo!" type scary ...This is the scary you find in a movie like The Excorsist. Its the kind of scary that makes you go insane.

... But if you want a thought provoking and intellegent game get Silent Hill 2.

but, this game is dripping with atmosphere. I like all kinds of games, but lately I've been more drawn to eploration types of games. Both Silent Hill games deliver on on exploration, puzzles, and best of all, they create a mood matched by very few games. The look of Silent Hill 2's graphics is stunning. At first I didn't like the grainy texture of the game, but the more I got into the game, I was able to appreciate that look, as it added to the realism of the gritty feel of the game. There are quite a few good games out there that do a good job of creating a mood, but the graphics, sound effects, and story of Silent Hill 2 go to another level. When a game can take a player to different emotional states, it has accomplished something, and Silent Hill 2 does this excellently.

If you like a game that has great atmosphere, and just plain feels creepy, and you like exploration and problem solving, don't miss Silent Hill 2. It's a great experience.

when i heard About silent hill, i had just bought my ps2 and couldnt wait for it to come out as it was dubbed the scariest game ever and i had no knowlege about the privious game.. anyway thought yeah right scary, sure it is. so i beeged and i got it for christmas and i put it in the tray and started it up.. the graphics blew me away i swear my jaw hit the ground and then it starts the story, and the fog at first i was ok, nothing scary yet till noises made me jump, and that was only fine mintues into the game and now my nerves are completly gone thank you Konami! *laughs* i've seen ppl complain about the fog and the controlls and the voise acting..the fog is there to keep you from seeing more then two feet ahead of you thus making it scarier.the contols werent that bad just need some getting used to and the they say the mouth doesnt math the words when ppl talk, rember the game was orginaly japanese that does have a affect on it..other then that that game is perfect, i do have to agree with the M rating this gae itsnt really suitable for anyone under seventeen, but the older fans im sure will love it a gripping story that makes you pay attention to ever lil detain ,a setting like creepy Hospitals and old Prisons that will scare you till you hide under your blankets and graphics that will blow you away so hats off to you konami! for making yet another wonderfully entertaining game and i await Silent Hill 3

I bought this game by accident (don't ask), but I meant to buy a different game but ended up with this one. I was kind of skeptical that I may of have wasted my money, because of my experiences with the resident evil series, boy was I wrong. This game is the same type of game that Resident Evil was, but the storyline and atmosphere are second to none in Silent Hill. The graphics are what got me going in this game, and slowly I couldn't stop playing. This game is absolutely captivating, I currently play it more than any of my other 25 games. I give this excellent game my highest reccomendation and kudos to Konami for creating it.

Like watching a movie...

I am not a huge video game fan, but being a movie fan I love playing this game. You can have a room full of people watching one person play, shouting out instructions where to go, what weapon to use, etc. It's creepy, you don't always know what's around the corner. However, I agree with the "eptiger" review about the acting parts. The acting/scripted portion of the game is badly written and "acted". Not a big deal though. Visual and audio effects are incredible!
I bought the help guide to get me through the game. My husband would read it as I played, and he'd only give me hints when I needed help. RPG fans will enjoy this game!

I'll keep it short , since everybody told enough about the graphics and sound. I want to make clear that this is the scariest and most disturbing game on the market right now. resident evil doesnt even get close to this game. I was reading bad reviews about the story of the game , but so far it rocks. It leaves you wanting for more. If you really want to get involved in a game buy this one. i got my playstation with this game and metal gear solid 2. this game gets %80 percent of the gameplay time.

This game is AWSOME. Far scarier than ANY of the RE series and any other survival/horror games. The best part of the game is the suttleness of it all. For instance, at the start of the game while running to town you will occasionaly hear what sounds like a another person walking behind you, but when you stop, the noise stop as well. the Main charater is also great. Instead of your all-American bad***, you've got a regular guy who gets understandably freaked out and always reaches for the door whenever trouble arises, rather than pulling out the largest gun ever made out of his back pocket and saying something like 'lets get busy'. The game, as far as creepyness peaks at the pyramid head double suicide scene, and the part at the end where the entrance to the 2nd floor of the hotel is cemented over and your stuck on the 3rd floor going into one door on the left wing and exiting another door on the right wing (very cool).
On a side note, don't be fooled by the XboX's version, it's horrible. It claims to have enhanced graphics when all they did was put on a grain filter (to sharpen the picture) and lighten the colors of the original. Thats the point though, that's why its so creepy is because you've got this old, dark, shadowy, grainy picture that will constantly freak you out.

I've been playing games since the eighties and they just keep getting better and better. The survival horror genre started out as pretty much a joke as slow systems and poor graphics (albiet cutting edge at the time) left too much to the imagination to be scary.

This game though was a different story all together. I had five or six friends just come in my room and watch as I played it and they were as swept away by the plot and puzzles as I was. And I think we all jumped when I was in the womens room of the prison (or hospital). Play the game you'll fine out what I ean. Great game! Good use of music and lack of music to cause tension. And on surround sound, the things running around you in the dark are really creepy.

Great Job Konami!

This game is a must play for those of us who prefer brains to brawn as a player. Look, if you can figure it out, then you DESERVE to advance, right? It is the puzzle and riddle solving that get you to the next level, not how well you battle or how many monsters you can kill. The graphics are true to life and the weather effects are an added plus. If you enjoy exercising your brain to outwit monsters and psychotics, you'll love this one.
