I have always been a fan of the Resident Evil Series, but this one never had my heart pounding for a second. Violence and Gore, Yeah right! I believe this game can use some more bloody effects. Of all resident evil games I played, this one gave me the least scare of all, but it does have a good storyline. Not one scene in the entire game frighten me yet. The one other thing that upsets me is the exxagerated damage of the suvival knife. I mean, I survived without a bite from them zombies using only the knife in the first 30 minutes of the game (and I did get far). But it's fun stabbing the zombie dogs continuously until they finally fallen victim to your blade. Like all the common issues, I also had problems getting the controls too, but once use to it, it is no differcult than the other resident evil games.

I truly enjoyed this game. Being a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, I felt it necessary to experience the whole story and background of the Resident Evil world. I even went so far as to purchase a Nintendo GameCube, just so I could play the Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil Zero. Though Resident Evil Code Veronica X is not as keen on graphics as the most recent incarnations, it is still a quality gaming experience. The bottom line, if you are a fan of Resident Evil, then you cannot pass on this game!

I know I'm going to recieve a lot of backlash from this, but I have to say that this game wasn't scary whatsoever. The zombies got old really quick, the cheesy music sucked, the story line was garbage, and it was all just one big lump of futile waste. It had no point whatsoever. Why do you people think this is so scary? IT'S NOT! The zombies off-screen, making their downright obnoxious noises, and slowly shuffling towards you in a dimly lit corridor was creepy at first, but it happened so much that it lost any scare potential it had. And later on, the hunters were even less impressive, just being oversized humanoid lizards with beedy, white glowing eyes. Oooooh, soooo scary. Pathetic is more like it.
I can't believe I wasted all that time on something like this. I haven't played the other RE games, but since they're all the same, I don't want to if I have to go through this hackneyed, overplayed crap again. That is going to be my ultimate question for life: WHY THE HECK WERE YOU PEOPLE SCARED BY THE UNIMPRESSIVE YAK DUNG IN THIS GAME?! After roughly a half an hour, I wasn't scared anymore, I was annoyed at these walking corpses that did nothing more than to bug the hell out of me. I can't tell whether you people just have absolutely no maturity or courage, or if you're just plain retarded, if you buy into the cheap scare attempts in this "videogame". Don't waste your money, and avoid exposing the incompetence within you to the world if you buy this game and are scared by it.
(Note: the only reason I gave this two stars was because it enlightened me as to how bad the Resident Evil series is, and how much I should keep away, to save my money. It's all defecated solid waste to me. Thanks for the heads-up, Code: Veronica! You've saved me!)

I don't have a Dreamcast so I never played the original Code Veronica and this game was considered the best RE from reviewers and I am a rabid RE fan so I had to get this game. Yes this game has amazing graphics with polygonal environments accompanied by a moving camera but most of the times, the camera stays still-giving you the feeling youre still looking at pre-rendered backgrounds and you still have monsters off-screen while the stupid camera doesn't want to move. Also, the graphics are plagued by an abundance of unnecessary fog so you can only see 7 or 8 feet in front of you. This is ridiculous because there's also fog inside buildings and is absolutely not a graphical style. Personally, I think Onimusha looks better. One thing Capcom got right is sound and it is right on and the story is credible with acceptable voice acting-once you get used to Steve and Claire's porno-moan "Oh Steve." I would also like to add about damage done to enemies-zombies aren't breakable as they were in the past REs. For example, when you blow a zombies head off, blow his legs off, his arm is ripped off while you shrug him off youre neck and blowing half his body off so only his upper half comes crawling at you. In this game none of these things happen, RECVX only has a sharper sound effect if you blow his head off - and his head is still intact! Another thing is that the zombie sounds are still the same from the first RE so don't expect anything different. Overall, I would still consider this to be a worthwile RE and probably the best but it would only win by a fingernail against RE3-which was innovative to say the least. Pick this one up if you're a rabid RE fan and for the Devil May Cry(awesome game)demo.

Ok, I'm not much for survival horror games, as I'm a wussie and I tend to freak out if I'm alone playing them, but this is probably that one, next to Silent Hill, that gave me the most chills.
Claire Redfield, after escaping the infection of Raccoon City, continues to look for her lost brother Chris (from the first one). Two months after getting out of R.C., she stumbles apon a lead that says he could be in Umbrella's Paris Lab. She goes to investigate and gets caught. After being knocked out, she wakes up in a dirty jail cell in an unfamiliar area, just to hear a huge explosion and the lights flutter and shut off. Eventually, after someone works her out of the cell, she runs into a certain familiar creature that we all know and love, but I won't go further than that.
This game has a near perfect storyline, and although the first half of the game you constantly struggle to find herbs and handgun bullets, you'll find yourself using the Combat knive more than you'd like. If you missed the Bowgun like I did, you won't have a chance to get it, so I'm warning you ahead of time. The character's in this game are great, although the voice acting is very tedious (especially Alfred...his laugh scares me more than the zombies).
This game is pretty graphic, and at sometimes, shocks you, so this, as you probably know, wasn't recommended for younger kids. This game comes with the demo to Devil May Cry, which looks like a pretty good game. This is definately worth the buy if you like horror survival games.

If not for the original Resident Evil game, I probably would never have become involved with videogames.
And this new game is what finally got me to buy a PS2.
Believe me, this is a great game. The play time is easily double what we've seen with earlier games. And, there is never a dull moment.
It seems like an impossible thing to do, but the Capcom team keeps making the games in this series better and better. I am especially happy to see that the continuing story is handled so well.
The new villains were probably not even thought about when the original game was made. But, they are terrific. And what is really amazing about them is this -- we never feel like the explanation for their existence or involvement in the story this far on in the series is implausible. It works beautifully. And their role in the action here is very exciting.
I am so glad that the Resident Evil series has this wonderful new installment.
Even though it has been around awhile on non-PS2 platform(s), I am intensely pleased to see it here.
And playing it was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.
An oldie but goodie

Back in the day of PS1 and the N64 the Dreamcast and PS2 were just barely starting to show off some of thier stuff. PS2 was demonstarting FMV demos, while Dreamcast was demonstrating real time in game material. The game that made me decide that I would forgive Sega for the CD, 32 X and Saturn was the original Code Veronica. I bought a Dreamcast and never regretted it (PS2 on the other hand is still a major regret.) Code Veronica was an amazing display of the Dreamcast's power, but that was then....
In October of 2000 I was amoung the many unfortionate imbiciles who didn't reserve a PS2 and then spent the next several weeks hunting one down. I ended up paying through the nose for the "must have" system, and it was until Onimusha Warlords came out that I laid in wait for a worth while game... Sadly that game was short. I traded the dreamcast version of Code Veronica for Phantasy Star Online, and so when Code Veronica X came out this summer I had an excuse to buy the inevitable Resident Evil Director's cut version of this Dreamcast classic. The game features an additional 10 minutes that really flesh out the story, but the graphic are no longer impressive, and now the archaic control style has gotten very iritating. Although I do love the game over all, this game is a "only if you don't already have the Dreamcast version" title. It's not worth buying if you already have the Dreamcast version, and frankly Capcom needs to knock it off with these director's cut RE games. Just do the game right the first time around! Thankfully all future installments of Resident Evil will be exclusive to GameCube, a complete remake of the original is under way and is simply breathtaking. Hopefully they'll address all the problems plaging this aging series and revitalize it. And hopefully Mikami will rule these the "definitive" versions of the game and opt not to do any more "director's cut" type games. I'll buy the first remake, but if there's a Resident Evil 'Cube Director's cut I'll give capcom the proverbial finger. I'm getting tired of the director's cut garbage.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica is probably my favourite game of all-time. Or at least, it was, until the updated Resident Evil Code: Veronica X rolled around. The games are almost identical, except for a few changes. While the graphics in the Dreamcast version are sharper, the graphics in the Playstation 2 version are better coloured and more attractive. The storyline remains virtually the same. Beautiful heroine Claire Redfield gets into trouble searching for her brother, shipped off to prison. What got her into trouble is the subject of the intro, which is done in full CG Graphics, and is one of the most detailed CG movies in any game, beating out the Resident Evil Remake's "CG intro".
Voice acting is what is to be expected of a Resident Evil game. Not great, not too terrible. The controls are kind of blocky, but not as terrible as everyone tends to make out. The story, while simplistic at first, is quite compelling, and the characters are actually quite likable, most notably the game's beautiful heroine Claire. Gameplay is also standard issue Resident Evil, but the setting makes it feel quite different somehow. If you are a Code: Veronica veteran, you might just want to rent this. If you are a Code: Veronica freak, you WILL want to buy this. If you are a fan of the series in general, buy this.
