legends of wrestling

Acclaim makes descent wrestling games, but that was ps1. I've seen screenshots of Jimmy Snuka useing his famous Splash & Jerry Lawler using a Piledriver. The graphics look like screenshots of Smackdown 3, so this looks interesting. I would recommened this game to any fan of wrestling from the 80s to the 90's.

Acclaim has made wrestling games in the past. They are the only ones besides THQ that is competing in this genre. When I first saw the title, I was interested, but when I found out that acclaim would be making it, I was suspicious. Anyone familiar with Acclaim's past track record, knows that the wrestling games they make always require impossible controller combinations to pull off the moves. The graphics are good but always choppy when it comes to moving your players around...players, I might add, that bounce and zip across the ring at speeds faster than sound. I sincerely hope that Acclaim has recognized this problem and cleans up their "Act." Otherwise, I fear that a perfectly good concept will be ruined by a not-so-perfect company. I'll give it 5 stars, just because it isn't fair to hit it with 1 star, when the game could be successful and thus ruin the rating system.

Okay, I'm going to hold my breath for this one...

...but I swear to the wrestling gods, if they haven't outright ripped off No Mercy's engine, or at the very least quit using that lame-o War Zone/Attitude/Just About Every Other Wrestling Game They've Produced engine, I will never, Eh-Eh-Eh-EEEh-ver, buy another Acclaim game of any sort, A-GAIN!

Now, I've seen Smackdown 3 for the PS2, and if it's anything like THAT graphically, then I'm down for it.

A question that I do have, since Shawn Michaels has been retired for the last three-and-a-half years, do we get to re-enact the Michaels-Bret Hart feud? If so, I would love to see the game have a Montreal screwjob feature, a la the special guest referee, except this time you're merely the promoter sitting at ringside and you get to tell the timekeeper to ring the bell whenever a wrestler you don't like is in the ring.

Anyway, seriously, I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath for this one...

Very slow and very boring

Legends of Wrestling is not worth it at all. The game is very slow, the graphics are sub par but considering that this game is on the PS2 and XBOX, the graphics are mediocre at best. Also the gaemplay and control is awful.

With fighting games like Tekken 4, MK Deadly Alliance and wrestling games like Smackdown SYM, this series really doesn't stand a chance because these games are faster, have better controls and the gameplay and replay value is great. I won't deny L of W has a lot of great names in it like George "The Animal" Steele, Hulk Hogan, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka and more but still, the names in this game can't hold the game up.

If there was any indication that this was going to be a bad wrest;ong game, the fact that it's released by Akklaim and as most of you remember that Akklain also had the unfortunate mishaps of having their name attached to their last wrestling games WWF Attitude and ECW Hardcore Revolution. Honestly, Akklain lost the license to release games for a reason and there are 2 right there. Skip this one and if you're looking for a good wrestling game, check out the Smackdown series because you'll enjoy that much more.

I would only get this game if you have alot of patients. the game loads slowly and sometimes not at all. The wrestlers are cool the best one is RVD. He can beat anyone and has lots of moves. the worst wrastler is one with a mullet (huh wait about 90% of them have on)

Mediocre wrestling title

What's done right in LOW ? Well it has a roster of 42 old-school wrestlers with standouts such as Koko B.Ware, George "The Animal"
Steele, and the Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal. It also features an innovative combo system that makes playing the game one part WZ(warzone) and one part PaRappa the rapper as you try to hit the right button in time to reverse grapples or counter attack.
What's done wrong? Everyting else!!!! The slow, unintuative controls underlie awful slapped-together graphics anda bargin bin soundtrack that features MIDI rock-type sound-alikes of the real wrestler's theme. Classic superstars like Rowdy Roddy Piper and Andre the Giant are conspicuously missing, while (now say it while pointing your thumbs at your shoulders and looking like an idiot)"RVD" and Sabu made it on the list. If you love classic wrestling, do yourself a favor and pass this up, you'll be glad you did.

When I saw the LOW promo on tv making fun of certain wwf champions, I had to pick it up. Blood is a plus, season mode is a plus, but this game should of been strictly for gameboy or something. A combination of all the smackdown games with this would of been pretty good. I think THQ made their season mode so short for jbi just to be smartasses. We did complain about sd2 season mode enough. But this game is in no way better than any smackdown. Sabu and RVD our badasses but when did they become legends?

Great Roster...but lousy game

I think I must be in the minority on this one, but I did not like this game. The legends you can use are great choices, but some of them make you raise an eyebrow. Mike Von Erich, a legend? Okay, then...where is Chris Von Erich? Also, how about a Chris Adams for the next game? Fabulous Freebirds?

As for the graphics, I am most disappointed with them. They look like they could have been on a Super Nintendo game. The shots after the matches, showing the winner grinning and the losers all bandaged up looks like it was lifted straight from Capcom's Street Fighter II. I like blood in wrestling games as much as anyone, but the large drops dripping from somewhere near the hairline, and a jagged red line across the wrestler's face makes me wish they could have created a "crimson mask". The blood from the Acclaim WWF and ECW PlayStation (One) titles was more realistic. And those ring entrances... in the age of "SmackDown: Just Bring It" giving all the wrestlers their own entrances that are Exactly the way they enter the ring...LOW gives us people shrugging their shoulders alot.

The acronym is fitting, because this game has a very impressive roster, but otherwise graphics and gameplay are at an all time LOW.
