Well it does have good graphics and is fun, but story mode gets pretty easy if you have beaten it once or twice. It still is a good game if you like fighting games.

The Bouncer was one of the first games I bought for the Playstation 2, and looking back to it after several years, that fact sums up the game in several ways. Many things about this game now seem anachronistic, but there are pluses and minuses for gamers even as we approach the release of the PSX 3.
Squaresoft produced this, so naturally you have several beautifully-rendered cut scenes. The movies here are better than what you see on Final Fantasy VII, but not quite up to Final Fantasy X. The story itself is somewhat intriguing, but in my opinion could use some polishing. You never really learn about these characters except through vague implication or hinting at past events that are never really developed. Therefore it's hard to care about these people. Sometimes the storyline grows a little choppy - your characters will be suddenly plunked down in a spaceship with little forewarning. I liked the three-eyed view of the storyline filtered through Sion, Volt and Kou however. Creative.
The engine that controls the POV during the gameplay can get a little disorienting when moving through winding corridors, and I could not figure out how to access special fighting moves. What is the 'ES' button? The manual never told me. All in all, this game is an earlier game for the PS2, and as a result there are kinks and oddities that later games improved on. It is an interesting thing to play for awhile, but not something that keeps you coming back for more. The Bouncer is alright, but only alright.
Good graphics, but that's it

This is one of the shortest games I have ever played in my life, and believe me, I've played a lot of games. This game is even shorter than Metal Gear Solid 1, and that game is beyond short. I'm too lazy to write a long review, so I'm just going to make this short (like the game). The graphics are nice, the gamplay is slow and boring, the music is okay, and the story makes little sense. How can a 19 and 15 year old work at a bar? It's stuff like this that I just do not understand.

Who cares if this game is too short. As long as the game has decent graphics, gameplay, and sound. And I really enjoy playing survival mode which is fun and enjoyable.

The Bouncer is an auesome game where Sion Barzahd(not Hazard like that other dome review says!!)and his buddys Volt Krueger and Kou Leifou(Hurst)go on a rescue mission to get Dominique Crossfrom the evil clutches of the Mikado Group. This game is extremely good except for 2 things:1.too short 2.once you get to the garden or on the galeos, its really hard too see.otherwise though, this game rocks!!!!i thought this game was about bouncing up and down at first(i was only 8!)until next time, kenny >_<

Okay, so the game is only a little longer than one hour. That i have to put it down for but only because its really fun! Ofcourse you can always play it again and again until you've completely leveled everyone up to their full potential and seen every different storlyline possible... which is what i did. The graphics are awsome, as expected from squaresoft. The character designs are also very nice to look at. The storyline itself is about Sion saving his love who is actually a robot from the enemy, Duragon C. Mikado. (i might have spelled that wrong) The control system is simple and easy. Ofcourse its always fun to be sion and use your punch move multiple times giving the effect that your juggling the person in the air. But thats not all.. you can also combine everyone and do one move, some of them.... well you wouldn't want to be the enemy ^_^ The best part is that when you've defeated a set of enemies...usually security, robots, and the other ppl..who are evil, you earn points that you can use to learn a new move, or strength, or defense. You want to even it out but its really fun and easy. I'd reccomend this game to someone who just wants an easy time, its not at all challenging which is probably why many people didn't give it all its stars but i think its just a good time...
Shows Off the PS2's Graphics, but There's No Game Here

Boot-up of SquareSoft's The Bouncer shows that even a few short months after the Playstation 2 has become available, developers are making games that look great, meaning that even more great looking games are yet to come. Unfortunately, The Bouncer looks amazing, but that's mainly what you do in this "game" - look.
The graphics, both foreground and background are completely amazing. The character designs are first-rate, with details adding to the realism, like the wisps of hair that bounce around on Sion's head, to the spiked horns sprouting from Volt's head. The emotions revealed through facial expression are great, but I really felt that I was watching a movie, rather than a PS2 game.
Intros ranged from a few seconds to several minutes. They were great to watch, but as the game progressed, they became longer while the parts where having a controller in-hand became shorter.
When the controller was in-hand, fighting enemies, the fighting isn't much ahead of Final Fight, or even as far back as the Double Dragon series. While you did have the incentive of beating them to see some more breath-taking scenes, the more you play, the less you want to watch, or even play.
Additionally, the camera angles often were pretty bad, with you running toward the camera, making it impossible to see where the enemies were up ahead. There were also times in the subway scene, where you're running aimlessly to keep ahead of the closing doors and out of the times I did, it never got caught once. There was little challenge here. I think they were included so they could add more time to what was actually interactive on this title.
Had I bought this one, I'd be sorely disappointed, because a DVD action movie has a cheaper price tag. SquareSoft incorporated Dolby Digital 5.1 sound during the cinematic scenes and it sounds wonderful, but again, the Matrix is cheaper and more entertaining.
The game isn't even that challenging. I've beat the game with one character within a couple hours of booting it up and am working through with another, but the storyline really doesn't change enough (there are parts, but it's just not enough) for this one to be worth much more than a couple hours of play. The local used game store had several copies of it, and now I see why. There's little replay value in this one.
The Bouncer really makes a good showoff piece for the PS2, but SquareSoft forgot about putting some game in there. If the cut scenes had ended up having more actual game play in between, it'd be a must-have for the PS2 collection, but as it is, it's a maybe-rent.
Fun, but short

It's fun beating people and robots up, but there are only about ten different enemies total. Some of the bosses seemed hard to me, but I'm not used to this kind of game. Even though I was slow, it only took me a couple hours to beat this. I was surprised when it ended, because it was so short. Not much of a world to explore, either. Nice scenes and there are cool moves, but I don't know if you have time to learn them all. Read the manual, too. It gives no explanations in the game, although you'll still figure it out. This is definitely a game to rent and not buy, unless you can buy it for very cheap.
