A realistic, exciting game. A great sequel

Metal Gear Solid is by far the best PS1 game ever created. Here's the story: You are Solid Snake, a secret agent brought out of retirement by your former boss Roy Campbell, to infiltrate a nuclear weapons disposal facility that has been taken over by a hostile group of terrorists and former members of a secret organization called FOXHOUND. Your primary objective is to resuce the DARPA Chief, Donald Anderson and the Arms-Tech President, Kenneth Baker. Upon learning of the terrorist's plans to use a new nuclear weapon capable of mass destruction, Snake must use his cunning and his stealth manuevering to outsmart his enemy and destroy the ultimate weapon: METAL GEAR. With an awesome array of weapons like the SOCOM pistol, the FA-MAS machine gun, the STINGER missle launcher, and the NIKITA rocket launcher, Snake must single-handedly infiltrate the heavily guarded weapons facility and find out about the criminal mastermind behind this plot. Snake will also learn about his dark history which will prove that the criminal behind this plot is more than a match for snake. Or is he?

Hey, I am 14 yrs old and I purchased this game. I had the demo and the demo was REAL good, so I decided to buy the real game. The money was definetely worth it to buy this great game. The adventure keeps on going and it never stops. I play this game over, and over and I learn new stuff and new strategies on how to beat it. Thank you Konami for making it!

Metel gear solid 1 is thee best game out there. If you like action you have got to get this game. It is based on a man named snake and he is sopposed to try to sneak into a nuclear starage faciluty to destroy a black opp project called metel gear rex. It was designed to be used by the secratary of defence but terrorist got to it and they now are thretening the white house with a nuclear explosion. Thats why snake has to get into there. I have beaten that game and now i want to buy ps2 so i can get msg2..!!

I realy like to play stratigy mission games and I have played allot of those but let me tell you some thing MGS is the best and I realy mean BEST game I have ever playied some times it really drive me crazy some time it give me enjoyment it take me 18hrs to end the game for the first time and those 18 hrs were one month long.. but in the end i just wana say that MGS is simply the best of the best............ ....

THIS WAS OVER ONE YEAR AGO THAT I WAS OVER MY FRIEND'S HOUSE AND I WAS PLAYING METAL GEAR SOLID. I ONLY PLAYED A COUPLE MINUTES OF IT BUT IT WAS THE MOST GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME. I THINK MGS IS BETTER THAN EVERY RESIDENT EVIL ALL TOGETHER! KEEP IT UP KONAMI I CANT WAIT FOR #2 SONS OF LIBERTY. KOOL!

Metal Gear solid is one of the best if not the best game ive ever played for the PSX. You take the role as a milatary hero codename solid snake. You meet many characters along the way and fight about six bosses. there are two endings to it ( tip when Meryl gets shot down by Sniper wolf defeat sniper wolf and save when they torture you submit or dont submit) Overall great

I am going to keep it short

Presentation: Best on the PS2 nice menus great graphics and control to keep you playing.

Graphics: Hello who's there Konami, no one because Graphic Artists for Konami are having a party for making a game with this calibur, good job Konami!

Sound: Can be better but it cant be worse that's for sure.. you really should have surround sound for this game..heh and play this game in the dark :D.

Control: Wish the had the first person shooting like in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. But all in all the controls werent bad at all. Konami just keeps on Impressing me

Replay Value: Excellent because of Multiple endings Get the stealth, the Bandana and the Tux. You can go wrong with a Tux :)

This game is a pretty good game. Now here I screwed up because I played MGS2 first but then I got this game. Now I must say it is a very good game but now a days it would have horrible graphics but I truly don't care about graphics. You really should buy this game before you buy MGS2 or else you won't understand 80% of MGS2. Also this game is really hard if you you play on Extreme mode so it does get frustrating sometimes. Really the only reason I give this game 4 stars is because of the graphics but if I could I would give it 4 and 3/4 stars. If you dont care about the storyline then you should just buy MGS2 because its graphics are like 100 times better.

I have been a gamer since about Pac-Man, and I have seen the genre of entertainment expand. Metal Gear is one of the most interesting and provocative stories there are. It is a little bit of truth with a healthy dose of fiction. The writers for this game were wonderful, and the characters were believable.

Some dialogue was a bit strange, but somehow I think that is due to translation from Japanese into American. The story makes the game. How dull would it be, and useless if you had no plot to these games? In my opinion, the best games out there are a good mix of story, dialogue, and action. Metal Gear serves this up in quantity. Also, their attempts to get the player involved as if he is Solid is wonderful. Things from Psycho Mantis's powers that he displays, to the stimulating nanomachines (aka the vibrating controller) makes the player feel like they are actually apart of the story. Other titles in this series accomplish this very well too, and I do not think enough games incorporate this into their games.

Overall I think that this is a great game. Good action, good story, and good puzzles. One of the best treats the Playstation has to offer.
