Im not sure what to really say about this game. I love the Final Fantasy Games to death. (Final Fantasy IX is my favorite). But in this game i find the battle system and graphics really distracting. I know that in the long run you can really enjoy this game, but if your really into the games ff7-10, this is a big step down.
One of the most unrewarding game in history

After the disappointment of FF XII, was curious what makes that producer so well known and could mess up a frachise like this. So went back to the roots and try Final Fantasy Tactics. I think there are really some people who enjoy frustrations in games and think that this is the only way to consider a game fun. Final Fantasy Tactics is annoying, frustrating and unrewarding. I don't know what's wrong with people who think that this is a great game. You think you can spend time to level up the characters to make the story battles easier? You are completely wrong. I'm stuck in a boss battle that after a 100 hours of level up you thought you have characters 30 levels higher than the enemies, you should be ok? You are wrong. The boss is so strong that despite you are 30 levels higher than them, it can wipe out your whole party in one go - despite all of them are 30 levels higher and have the best equipment on them at that point of the game. What's the point? I think I'll give up the Final Fantasy frachise for good now if the next game is by the same producer. It's not worth it at all. For people who think this kind of game challenging and fun, I think I'd rather not be a gamer anymore. If I can, I want to give -5 stars to this game.

hey remember me!? thats right im the preppy girl that rated final fantasy 8. anyway im rating final fantasy tactics the crappiest game on the face of the earth. like i said im not a pro gamer, but this game was really unfair and stupid. sometimes you have to fight 4 against 7 , and your taem being the small number. i raelly liked this game in the beginning but after a while the style of fighting became long , boring and montonos. i playedd final fantasy 8 first and maybe im used to the fancy stuff , but one thing is for sure this game has a craappy storyline crappy graphics, crappy game play crappy sound and horrible characters , there are so many!! how do you keep track!! this game has no cute guys and really friuty names at first i thought ramza was a freakin' girl, as soon as i read the character bois in the book i saw the word him under his name. of coarse this is my opinion and you dont have to agree but dont spend your dough on this piece of crap.
If you have to try it, then rent it!!

Hello. Don't buy this--ever. Play three hours and you'll see what I mean. The battle system is only good if you like chess. The characters are stupid, stupid stupid (Ramaza, whom I thought was a girl at first, is the [weakest] and most heretic in the series)! The plot is cheesey. Why can only the enemy use the zodiac stones?! Why do you have to go through the job point system? Why can't you use your exerience?! Most of all, why do you have to be a level two squire to be a knight,etc?!!... Oh, remember. Don't buy this!!!!
A Disgrace to the FF Family!

What a letdown this was after FFVII! The graphics looked like they came straight from a Sega Genesis or NES system circa 1993. This bears no relation to the decent FF games and is one of the suckiest games I've ever wasted money on. I tried to give it to the Salvation Army but they didn't want it either.
An all-time favorite

I'm sure this game isn't for everyone, but in my perspective it is the perfect RPG. The job system made you want to play the game over again just so you could try out that class you never ended up using, exciting plot battles and random battles that are always a challenge given that they level up along with your party, and, in my opinion, the most powerful and intense plotline and character developement I have ever seen in a console RPG.
Graphics: True, the graphics aren't cutting-edge, but the use of sprites and camera make it easy to see every detail on the battlefield, and also make the spells seem that much cooler graphically.
Music: The music fits scenes perfectly. If I saw a soundtrack for it, I would probably grab it right away. Random encounters usually feature a random score of music.
Gameplay: Personally, I'm quite happy not to have a little sprite to move around to go to houses and talk to people who say the same things OVER and OVER again. Straightforward main map and shopping. The battle sequences are exciting and often at least slightly difficult no matter where you are in the game.
Storyline: I played FFT two times from beginning to end. The reason? To experience the character developement, rich plot, and overall mood of the game. True, it is slightly difficult to follow. But it's there, and it's flawless (this doesn't include technicalities and translation errors). I personally like games with a large dark side, and this game doesn't have too much of a light side. Whoever thought up all the interlocking conspiracies and corrupt organizations is a creative genious.
Overall: The perfect game. Don't buy if you are just anyone, however. If you like roleplaying for the sake of what roleplaying games stand for, buy this game. It will keep you going to the end.
Brilliant...

...This game is fantastic. The story blends perfectly with the battles, and many times takes place in battles. I most of all really like the level-up system, it's very complex and uses the Job System. This is no doubt a very intellectual game. The job system allows for hours and hours of battling and leveling up until you reach your max statistics, and even then there is still work allowed to be done. The storyline is very, very deep. Another aspect is the Music, which is amazing! it adds to the atmosphericness of the game, and is very well written. I recommend this to anyone with a whole lot of patience...and a brain. If you are restless...this isn't for you. This game would probably appeal to the more mature croud of gamers...hence the long battles and complex/intertwining storyline.
FFT is an awesome game

Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite final fantasy game of all time. it may even be my favorite game of all time. its battle system is comepletely different from all other final fantasy games. the strategic element in the battles makes me continuosly want to play more. some battles last up to an hour long. not only are the battles great but there are loads of possible different jobs to choose from, each with different abilities to use in battle. even though the battles are what most of the game is about the plot line is very very involving and has lots of twists and turns. all-in-all this game is a must buy for all final fantasy lovers. Final Fantasy Tactics ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
The game as it is.

Final fantasy tactics may look like a very pleaseing game at first but the sad fact that the only "FF" charactors in it are Cloud And Aerith. the Cg in this game realy bit the dust having only one in the beginig and one at the end. Graphics were mediocre as well and practilcy all the charactor designs look the same. (i.e Blonde hair , long faces and the same dull expressions) though the gameplay was sure long enough (thus being that the battles were so hard) you move by hoping across squares and attacking the enemy (think Arc The Lad) and then choosing what to do. Your players also get diffrent Jobs such as summoner(the summons were ok) to archer. i found that the most creative part of the game. The people who created this must have been rocket scientists because the story line was so complex i didnt understand it at all to the point were i didnt even read it.. . i know i have ranting this game alot so i will give 1 good thing about it. The way it helped me during my "depression period" id turn it on and start wacking at the cute little Chocobos hehe. (they come in yellow black and red and maby others). All in All i would not recomend this game to someone with low patience or short temper ( i found myself either using the gameshark witch it was still hard or throwing my controller at the T.V.) So this game gets a 2 stars. sorry i didnt like it at all.
