Hopefull

Homeworld was "Amazing". Cataclysm was "Good". This trend better not continue or I would have to give Sierra the "Confederacy of Dunces" award. I really loved Homeworld and what was done with that game....

If you dont understand what Im saying here then I hope to God you dont work for Sierras dev. team. Your probably "management".

Homeworld 2 will be an instant classic

If you like sci-fi, strategy games, and great stories, then Homeworld 2 will be your holy grail. No, it is not out at the time of this review, but let me tell you something. You could go back in time to 1999 and erase the original Homeworld's release, and release it now in 2003 instead, and it would still top other new stragegy games and get great reviews. Homeworld 2 is a promise to improve all the things that made Homeworld 1 so great. If you don't like sci-fi, strategy games, or great stories...buy Homeworld 2 anyway. You will be converted. Enough said.

I just tried the Homeworld 2 demo

It looks and plays just like Homeworld only the atmosphere seems to be missing. The music is weak. The new captain is cold and boring. I don't see anything innovative. You can't go inside the ships. It doesn't meet the standards the original Homeworld set. Seems like they could have turned out this installment after a couple of months. What have they been doing the last four years?

Too small, lack of control, and boring

I felt like I'm controlling an ant farm. Very bad perspective. All the ships and everything are really small. Also, if you notice most ships just do their own thing, there is no real feeling of control of the game at all - it's like point ship at other ship, watch battle. Zzz .. boring. If you want a game where you can control your ship and how everything that occurs, I recommend Starscape (do a google search). The space genre just isn't fitting for an RTS - especially with a game like Homeworld 2 where everything looks like the size of an ant and is barely controllable.

This game is awsome. The graphics are amazing, the AI is intelligent. When i first installed homeworld 2, i knew it wasn't going to be a flop, the whole game is truly a worthwhile investment. Sierra has done it again.

If you like a challenge

Alright first off im a big stratagy gamer.
This games graphics and ai are perfect. They create a stunning new look at space. But the big thing with me was the challenge of the game. If you want a big challenge in rts's you need to get this game. I tried the demo before i got it and i was stuck for a couple days figuring out the first levels. Personally if the game isn't a challenge in the single player then it won't be fun at all online. If you need a challenge grab this if you don't then don't grab this ull be crying with frustration.

Nice but not if you have limited time

Nice looking game; feels like an expansion of the first one though - not too much has changed in that respect.
The game is still too hard - if you are looking for a respectable pace of progression and not something that requires 50 attempts to move on, I would skip it.

Excellent game! BUT......

my copy is completely washed in red! The opening logos, the main menu and the gameplay. Everything is washed in a sandy red color and there seems to be no real deviation from that. I did not have this problem with the last Homeworld. Anyone else have a similar problem?

High system requirements recommended! The resolutions is flawless and dialogue is contingent from HW1. Be prepared for combat. The enemies are plenty and the missions various. It's by far the best game I ever played (to include console games). A must buy, but don't get cocky and skip the tutorial. Some controls have obviously changed. The only problem is the ship production is slow and the RU's (resource units) too few in order to build an elite force. Go to IGN.com to accquire RU's codes. Of course, critics will say you're not a real gammer if you have to use cheats. I play for fun, not reality.
