Master Duelist Says:

INCREADABLE! There really isn't anything more to say, I mean the first time I saw this game I was blown away by how detailed and animated it was! The graphic are amazing and the game-play is just as good as Forbidden Memories. After all Duelist of Roses is the sequal to Forbidden Memories. Travel through the entire duel monsters world, while battling opponents and winning cards. You as Yami Yugi are once again called to save your kingdom from the evil mage, Seto. Explore many places and theres even a new feature, if you press buttones in certain places you can find secret cards. This is a exquisite game and it is very well made. It is worth buying and i highly recommend that all Yu-Gi-Oh! lovers should get it!

Wondering what are the three limited edition cards?

The game Yugioh The Duelists of The Roses comes with three Ultra Rare cards which are Alpha,Beta,and Gamma the magnet warrior.All of this cards are goin to be in handi in the future
because you need all of this cards to summon Valkyrion the magnet warrior which you need to offer Alpha,Beta,and Gamma in order to summon it.And yes it is a great game.
Alpha=ATK/1400 DEF/1700 4 stars
Beta=ATK/1700 DEF/1600 4 stars

I find this game addictive. As my son puts it, it's like chess for those times when you don't want your brain to cramp. It is essentially a board game, with features from chess, stratego, and checkers. But, because it is overlaid with a fascinating, if at first arcane, card game--which includes classes of cards with various powers that can be enhanced or fused with other cards--it presents for a wide range of interesting challenges. While it is hard at first, once you get the swing of it, it's ability to keep you entertained is seemingly endless. By keeping your deck value low (each card is assigned a fixed number of points, and for computerized opponents your total deck points cannot exceed theirs), you can create as much of a challenge as you can handle, pitting your ability to creatively position and "summon" game pieces (the cards) to overcome seemingly impossible odds. For that reason alone, the replay value is considerable.

If you like chess, stratego, and other thinking board games, give this a whirl. There is much to learn and much pleasure to be had.

PREVIEWED IT

I have actually played a demo version while at E3 and I enjoyed it thoroughly. They only had enough to play 3 cards in 1 duel but from the response of the game, the graphics and the story I just thought it was amazing.
Its up to you to buy it when it is released but I know I will.
Ive been waiting for them to finish and release it for a nice long while.
Im about 20 and love the whole concept but hey thats just me.
If you like the cartoon and the other games at all then you should get a kick out of it.
:)

this is one of the best Yu-Gi-Oh games yet. I have EDS and DDS, but this game seems a lot better than those games. I've seen what it's like, read other reviews, and cursed the reviewers that don't like it. THIS GAME RULES!! I'm gonna buy it the first day it comes out.

A Big Big letdown!

After such great games as Forbidden Memories and Eternal Duelist Soul, you would think that a Yu-gi-oh game for a next generation sytem would be amazing. Well if you want to judge it by it's graphics, then Ok it is decent, but if you want to judge it on gameplay it might be one of the worst games I have ever played. I am a huge yu-gi-oh fan, I have all the US released games and ove 15 real card decks, and on top of that I am 25, say what you will about my age but I am not ashamed. This game is NOTHING like the real card game, the show, or any of the other games. You have to move your cards around the board like checkers and be right next to your opponents monster to attack it. Another thing is this leader thing, When you start the game you pick a deck, for each deck there is a leader, for example mine is Luminous Soldier. You use him to move around the board and summon you cards, if you opponent attacks your leader, regardless of your leaders attack or defense, it gets deducted directly from your life points. Another downfall is it is hard, I mean really really hard. I am all for a challenge but this goes beyond that, it is difficult to win, even against your 1st opponent, it also pretty hard to grasp how the game plays. It is far to difficult for kids. I would say one of my biggest problems with this game is that the codes on your real cards are 100% useless on this game, they are not compatible, not a single one. So all the hard work of getting a good deck with great cards don't matter on the game. The only really good thing about this game is that you can choose which side you want to play the game as in the beginning. White rose side which is Seto Kaiba or the Red rose side which is Yami Yugi. You play different ememies and you follow different story line depending on who's side you pick.
I had pre-ordered this game a good 2 months before it came out, anxious to play another great yu-gi-oh game instead I got a huge [expensive piece of junk]. Why doesn't Konami make a yu-gi-oh game that follows either the real card game completly or the show completly or at least a mixture of the two, I know the rules aren't consistant on the show and keep changing, but at least try. The other Yugi video games had some big flaws in that they too didn't consistantly follow either the show or the card game but they at least came close enough to make them enjoyable. Why won't they give us what we the true fans want. If you are a true fan of the card game, you probably wont like this game, yes it can be fun to watch your favorite monsters battle it out, but get Forbidden Memories for that.

of course i didnt rent it and i was thinking it would be normal dueling but with my luck it wasnt.So,rent it first and if u like it buy it,its a must have if your a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan.

I don't know much about the world of Yu-gi-oh other than my 7 yr-old collects the cards. So I bought this game for him for his birthday. This game is very hard for a kid. I've never played the card game myself, so I took the in-game tutorials and then started battling. It took me six games to beat the first opponent. Strategy is fun, now that I've learned the interface I will work with my son to help him figure it out. Overall I think it's a very good strategy game and watching all the 750+ monsters in 3d is cool. Anyway, don't buy this for a youngster unless you're willing to help them out a lot with learning the controls and strategy. Mike age 26.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists of the Roses should have been great. The series is amazingly popular and the card game can be quite fun. Somehow, Konami managed to ruin a game despite the odds.

First, this PS2 game takes the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! and transplants it into the middle ages, with the War of the Roses. The houses of Lancaster and York are vying for the throne of England, and only cards can settle it.

OK, I don't mind that. I love English history, and I also enjoy card games. So into the tutorial we head. While they go over every step in the game, it's one gigantically long rush of about 1/2 hour or more. And instead of letting you practice the commands and repeat them, it's a slideshow-like sequence where you just keep hitting X ... X ... X. You really need a walkthrough to print out to have it all available and ignore their slideshow.

Finally you get to the game. You choose a default deck and take it into "battle" as you try to move across England. Problem 1 - there's no practice! You go from that slideshow right into a nasty battle that many find difficult to win. You are often dealt awful cards that even skilled players find it hard to win with. It's hard to learn the game when your monsters are stomped easily left and right.

At least you might have pretty things to look at and listen to while you die, right? Wrong! The graphics for the cards are awful. You can barely tell what element something is or anything else. Even the important numbers are hard to decipher. And for sound, you get the same droning loop of synth music again and again.

Cardplay is new and unusual, with monsters moving across the board and facing each other on different terrain types. It's sort of interesting but can be extremely frustrating, especially for new players. You do get a semi-cool 3d "quick battle" when the cards meet, but even that is on a boring background and lasts maybe 5 seconds.

Perhaps worth it for the incredibly-dedicated Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, but the rest of us should demand something better next time. This game is an embarassment given the quality of PS2 games coming out today.
