I was totally amazed with these online reviews with the FAKE propaganda of this being a good(if not best) game, when the truth is that I was sincerely disappointed at it. Its nothing better than WE6, I dont really notice a difference between them, I wanted my money back but they wont accept it, I'll just try to sell it to another person that might like it, cause i'm not playing this, i'm sticking to 989 World Tour Soccer, which in my opinion is the REAL BEST SOCCER game out there.

Are you guys crazy? WE7 doesn't even deserve 3 stars.

Hearing that many people talked excitedly about WE7, I was so eager to get a copy yesterday as soon as it came out. Having never played a single WE game before(including WE6 and earlier verions in the series) I have spent the entire night yesterday playing WE7, however, only after a couple of hours, pretty much I have a conclusion for myself: There are some good features about WE7, but overall it is definitely NOT as good as FIFA 2004 (from my view point).

Here are some of the shortcomings:

1) Lack of famous world-class teams and many crappy unreal "countryside" teams too -- There are only a handful of national teams like Brazil, England and France that have real players with real names, and all other players are unreal with fake names. The club teams are a joke. Besides Juventus and a couple others in Italy, I don't think you can find a real team with real players in it. It doesn't even have Real Madrid! Of course this is to deal with Konami's inability to secure the license, but playing with real players with unique abilities is surely a selling point for any sports game. That definitely makes it less enjoyable for me.

2) No online play -- Easy to explain and easy to understand. I feel bored playing against computers or friends all the time. Full stop.

3) Graphics are NOT better (or NOT MUCH better if better) than FIFA 2004 -- I have compared Owen and Beckham, Figo, etc, I think FIFA 2004 has a more life-like rendition of Owen's and Beckham's faces than WE7.

4) No precision passing and no shot targeting -- There is no precision long pass as in FIFA 2004, and of course there is no precision shot targeting as in FIFA. The passing button config is too complicated and hard to control, like you have to press a specific number of times to decide whether you will center a pass to NEAR post or FAR post.... Are you kidding? What are they thinking?? Number of press strokes is not a logical choice for controlling a pass. Scoring a goal from a direct free kick is almost like a dream -- I think even after you play for months, you will not be able to score one from free kick. If you shoot in WE7 like you do in FIFA 2004, you will definitely shoot high wide and high.....

5) Lousy goal celebration and facial expressions -- After players score a goal in WE7, they are basically just walking slowly around without any excitement or the celebration style unique to each real player or anything that you can see in FIFA 2004. Their facial expressions remain pretty much moody without even a smile. How could you give 5 stars to a game that have claimed to pay attention to these minor details, but have not actually done anything good with it?

Good points for WE7 (That's where the 2 stars I give come from):

However, there is something better in WE7 than in FIFA 2004. I like the movement, motion and skillset of the players on the pitch more than that in FIFA 2004. From running to kicking, faking and controlling the ball, WE7 is very close to real play. It even features some kick styles that you can't find in FIFA, like bicycle kick and over-the-head kick. If FIFA 2004 has some of these too, it would be tremendously awesome.

However, overall, FIFA 2004's good has more than offsets its bad when compared to WE7.I don't understand why people are demeaning the FIFA game relentlessly in its every aspect and upholding the WE7 game so much. Turns out WE7 is a pretty crappy game that I have already regretted buying....

For anybody that hasn't played with WE6 before (like myself), I wouldn't recommend WE7 at all.... I would recommend they buy FIFA 2004 instead. But if you like WE6, then maybe WE7 has something more in it.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!

I thought WE6 was one of the best games ever. This version is not. The players you control re-act much to slow. You must anticipate every move 3 steps in advance. If you loved WE6 be wary of this one. RENT FIRST.

Forget it

The teams are not authentic and the controls are cumbersome. The one good thing I liked, which was not available in FIFA 2004, was the customization options. I liked customizing/creating players and editing teams. I wish EA would pick this up.

Good game

Overall a good game, better than Fifa2004 in some aspects worse in others.
Even though I'm a big soccer fan I do not like Fifa2004 and W11-7. Here are the reasons:

Winning ELeven 7 cons:
- Teams, or the lack of. Its a big issue if you want to play your favorite team. Yes you can edit and add players and teams, but its very difficult and a huge time sink. Besides the result may not be what you expected... :)
- Speed. The game is way too fast. Watch a soccer game on TV and you will see it too.

Fifa 2004 cons:
- Since fifa 1943 :) they have this bug when the game goes in slow motion. It has improved (less often) but its still there. Every version of fifa has it, even PC version.
- Default camera position and zoom makes everything too small, heck its even hard to see the ball if you far away from TV. (zoom cam be used though)
- Some player moves are akward and the AI is really bad concerning teams and different skill levels. (ex a horrible team can beat a good team anytime - try CPU vs CPU))

Both games have pros also.
Winning Eleven 7 Pros:
- Graphics, excellent player models, stadiums...
- Editor mode, teams, players.
- Swap mode
- You can be in control of the tactics while not actually controlling the team, coach mode.

Fifa 2004 pros:
- Teams uniforms and flags are perfect.
- Squads are about right for last year
- Game speed is RIGHT

Think the games are about the same, Fifa2004 has more cons but W11 has bigger cons. Comon, the game speed is way off. And the lack of real teams is really a problem for me.

Overall though I think Winning Eleven 7's got more potential than Fifa2004. EA is using the same "boring" engine for years while W11 seems to have a better one at least ATM.

I just play both games (sometimes) and wanted to share my experience.

Not so good

This game has a lot of useless features like strategy, formation etc. etc. i've tried tons of different formation, defence, attacking and nothing make any diference.I think the gameplay need to be faster, the players fall for nothing they are too WEAK and take then 3 seconds to get up, or if you lose the ball the player just stand there and don't get back faster. For me the cpu controls 70 % of the game sometimes even if you press a button he does other thing you don't wanna, like clear the ball, graphics are good , players and teams good. is just the gameplay. they should've put an option where you can put off the reffere.DEFENCE:Don't think in pressing "O" = automatic red card. You should have completly control of your forward when the keeper take the ball of your feet, that way i would kick the f*** out of him! that way i would really deserve a red card, not the bulls*** fouls the ref calls..I play in level 5 and win by 6 goals, i play in level 3 and hardly win by 1 or lose;3,4,5 stars is all the same.I Hope this guys make the improvements in WE8.For the rest is and OK game.but not perfect...yet.

Hi, we just bought the game (Winning Eleven 7 for PC) and my husband and I have a lot of concerns. Several players of Manchester United has their names wrong written. The Stadium appears as "BRATCRICK STADIUM" or something like that, not like OLD TRAFFORD as it should be. There are clubs with strange unone names. ¿Are all these things normal?. Please help us on this. haradi15@yahoo.com. Chia & Hector

Now I can see why Japan shuts down every time "Winning Eleven" is released! I couldn't care less about soccer and I love it! I've never played "FIFA", but at this point, I don't want to. EA has gotten a one-two punch from Sega's "ESPN NFL 2K5" and this. The gameplay is absolutely phenomenal: simple but challenging and most importantly, F-U-N! This is Japan's "Madden" and one of the best sports games on the market! EA, it's a good thing you've stopped trash-talking your competition because they've blown you away this season. Olay!

FINAL SCORE- 9.5/10

the best soccer game ever made

i can hardly believe how there can be any soccer game as real as this.we7 has everything.the players act so real and palyer movement is just outstanding.sometimes i just go like, wow, did u see what he did.unlike fifa 2004 where players are mostly spinning around with the ball which they call dribbling,we7 has real player movements on the ball.one other unique aspect of this real soccer game is how individual players act just as the real players on the pitch.u can easily make them out without their names or faces.ronaldo, mboma, etoo, beckham, owen, zidane, all these players and more play just as they play on the pitch.the graphics isn't bad compared to the fifa 2004 players who can't play real soccer.i just wish the graphics were a bit shaper like the fifa 2004,then i think all the fifa fans would have just been shut.all fifa 2004 can boast of is the detailed graphics but because we7 has a touch less graphics and better realism of the gameplay,it just knocks off the fifa 2004,way off.we7 is such fun that i can hardly pay attention to player details and even commentary.there is something different happening all the time.and i think this is as close as any football game can get.fifa paid too much attention in graphics.i think people pay money to watch players play real soccer on the pitch and not to just see them.we7 makes u see the players as well as how well they can perform on the pitch and i think thats what makes it more fun.we7 stands tall.

Just Awesome!

I've had Fifa, This is Football 2003, etc etc BUT this game just smokes them all. It's WAY better. Playability makes this
game worth the $bucks paid, can't say the same for the others.

As an ex-soccer player I'm very impressed with the game physics. Passing, tackling, shots, headers, corners it's all excellent but don't forget your skill factor ... it matters too.

Some hints.
You'll have more fun if you go into training and practice some scoring techniques. Just like in real soccer not everyone can score at will. But after practice I went from lame 0:0 or 1:0 scores to 7:0 (my playing partner is now gone into training too :-)

If you only buy one soccer game buy Winning Eleven 7 (or its European/Australiasian equivalent Pro Evolution 3).

Cheers ;-)
